@@drakuza9088 I have hyperthyroidism which causes me to lose weight fast. I miss how my old body was and wish I appreciated it much more. I need help, what are your natural herbs?
It's like you read my mind, was literally thinking about this today. It's so hard to find tip videos on gaining weight. There are a few here and there but not a lot. Happy it's vegan too!
Finally someone is talking about that, I have similar figure like you and I want to be more toned... it’s crazy when you talk about this topic, people will tell you; oh you have just to eat !!!! It’s the same thing when you tell to someone overweight: you have just to stop eating !!! We all know that it’s not that easy wether gaining weight or losing weight.
I don’t feel alone anymore. I didn’t know weight loss was as common as weight gain. Thanks so much. So many videos out there on how to lose but not gain weight ❤️
Glad to hear this report. I lost 20 lbs since I went vegan & gluten free 7 months ago. I'm so glad for this video and the comments, knowing now I am not alone. Now looking forward to gaining back what I lost.
Thank you for this video. It's helpful to see the actual products. I think it's important to share that there is an eating disorder called Orthorexia Nervosa which happens when a person is fixated on eating healthy and clean foods. It's okay to want to eat healthy and mindfully, but if it becomes an obsession, compulsion or all- consuming fixation, then it is no longer a healthy habit/lifestyle. To anyone out there who might be struggling, there is help. Dont be ashamed to seek help.
girl honestly. if i find any other healthy things to gain weight ill let you know. i did try apetamin about a year ago and it increased my appetite and i did eat a lot more, i didn't look into it that much so im not trying to recommend anything that is bad for you so prolly dont do that. best way is to count your calories try and get 1,500-2,000 a day but if you have a low appetite like me, drinks that have high calories are almond chocolate milk is 100 cal per cup and naked smoothies are around 150 per cup. also plantain chips and like she said seeds are also good.
Apply what’s in this video and try maca root powder and tone up to build muscle. This video is very informative. Or if you don’t have the time look up a vegan mass gainer.
Greetings! I started the Candida diet and lost so much weight. I am down to 94 from 110. Depression is gone, my skin is like a baby’s butt, no cravings whatsoever and I am feeling great. Now I have to gain weight. I will be incorporating these items into my lifestyle. Thank you for the helpful tips.
This is so useful, and I really love this. I always felt disgusted whenever I see the entire internet covered in how to lose weight and I'm seriously stressed because I hate my SUPER skinny body. I would have liked to gain weight, and I found this really helpful. Please recommend it to anybody who wants to gain weight you know.
Thank you for this, I have just been ill and I was already thin now I'm looking skinny. As a vegan it is hard and no one talks about this as people think you are mad for wanting to gain weight but I don't want to be weak and skinny but thin and solid.
I just came back to say this coconut oil in coffee is the most genuis idea I've heard! Haha I love it. Really moisturizes the lips and it adds a nice taste to my coffee. This video was beyond helpful and I'm confident for the first time to be able to gain weight.

Thank you very much! Im totally aware of these foods, but I became sick over a month ago and lost about 6 pounds. I just want to gain back what I lost because I’m already very thin and preferred my weight before. I feel like I’ve been stuffing myself with more veggies and rice and protein shakes, but not enough fats and calorie dense foods. So thank you!!! ❤🙏
I’m going to try all of these thank you! I got a blood test with high cholesterol so I cut out everything, full fat yogurt yes I wasn’t vegan but now I’ve cut out all animal fats and I’ve lost 7 pounds that I didn’t need to lose. Now I’ll try these nutrient dense suggestions from you. Thanks very much!
So happy I found this Video! Been underweight all my lift, just like my parents and my brother. Especially now that I’m trying to get pregnant I want to be as healthy as I can be
Mona, thank you for this video. I need this. I started going vegan 7 months ago, and unintentially lost 20 pounds since then. Though I feel great, I don't like the way I look because I was never a big person to begin with. I desperately want to gain back at least the weight I lost. So will immediately be trying your suggestions. It's sooo hard finding helpful videos on "healthy" weight gain. So thanks again.
Thank you for this video. I realized that I am considered "skinny soft" as well. I really want to gain weight as a vegan, just so I feel better when I eat (ethically). My goal is to gain 20 lbs. If possible, can you please elaborate on sample meals that can help with weight gain?
I love that you made this video. Im struggling with being underweight as a vegan and its something ive felt really isolated about. Its made me feel like everyone who says being vegan makes you malnourished is right. It feels good to hear that there is a way ❤️
Hi Dr. Mona, thank you so much for all the tips. I've always had a fast metabolism, when I was a kid I used to be very skinny even though I used to eat HUGE amounts of bread and pasta on a daily basis. Nowadays I'm still in a good shape (I'm actually a runner) the problem is my belly fat...I wish I could shift it to my arms/legs instead!! I'll definitely try to combine your suggestions with specific exercises
When anorexics are in recovery they gain weight on their stomach first to protect their internal organs. Once their body consistently (say for 6 months) gets the right nutrients the body distributes the weight more evenly.
Thank you for the great tips! It's so hard to talk about weight gain without judgemental, dismissive comments. My biggest support is my husband, who loves me as I am, but I am passionate about gaining weight for my overall health.
I would love to see an edition of this topic that appeals to vegan on a budget! I know a lot of people who want to be vegan but are worried about getting enough calories because vegan foods are seen as too pricey.
Thanks. I've recently being suffering from gastritis and have lost a lot of weight. I want to gain it back in a healthy way, I'm definitely going to try these
thank you! ever since i got my new job, which is serving food/drinks in a arena, i've been losing so much weight, noticeably in my butt which makes me sad. each shift i fast walk about 6-10 miles and walk up stairs a lottt. my problem is that i usually only eat really good when i eat out. and when i'm not eating out, my meals are usually small or not balanced. so this video was super helpful!!!
Thank you so very much for this video! I'm always trying to gain weight because I have a stupidly fast metabolism and I hate eating junk food and meat to try and gain weight because I just feel like shit and I end up fasting it out of my body anyways which leads to the weight loss and my cycle starts over. This was so helpful and I hope more people see this! ♡♡
Thank you so much I turned vegan ate nuts seeds tahini and sadly did my yearly blood works and my cholesterol was high though I have lost weight exercise no processed food So I’m perplexed please can you help me
SO glad I found this video! I recently lost quite a bit of weight and nearly all my muscle mass after having covid and I've been searching for ways to gain it back, healthily. I've been working out and gaining my muscle back, but haven't been able to put on weight. This is super helpful and I can't wait to implement these foods into my diet, because going the burger route is not at all for me!
Finally! I’ve been searching for a video just like this one as I am trying to gain more weight on the healthy side and vegan is a plus for me! 👍🏼👌🏽 Thank you so much 😊🙏🏽
Thank you! Just started eating Vegan (I don't like how meat tastes) but I need to gain some extra weight. I have a high metabolism and my job requires me to walk 5-8 miles a day. If anyone has anymore tips on maintaining weight I'm here to listen!
So I discovered I was eating small quantities. I genuinely didn’t know that because I get satisfied with little food, I went to a nutritionist and the first two days I was struggling but now I think I can eat as much as my menu says. If anybody wants to see the menu DM at ig (@medianocheg) but keep in mind I’m a 19 year old Mexican female. My height is 1.67 and well I’m REALLY underweight at the moment, I’m at 47.7 kg and we’ll see in a week if I’ve made any improvements. Regarding the video, they’re great points but if you want an example, i have to drink this every morning: 1 cup of fatty milk (coconut, almond, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, just not oats or rice and those kinds of milks) + one banana + a slice of papaya + one tablespoon of chia seeds + one tablespoon of sugar free peanut butter + half a teaspoon of curcuma + a pinch of black pepper + cinammon Last thing: DO EXERCISE, but don’t do even a bit of cardio, just work your muscles
Sometimes i search thing like this and all i get is how to lose weight we all need help and i feel like people should pay attention to both subjects and help them equally
Thank you so much for making this video! I was 135 pounds before I went vegan and now I am 110. My doctor says that I am fine but my friends say I look skinny. And I don’t have any reserve energy. I will try your suggestions. I want to put on some muscle mass.
Thank you! There isn't much content out there for people who lose weight easily but struggle to maintain/ gain, especially when you want to be healthy.
healthy eating is essential. you also need to make sure you are slowly adding calories to your already regimented eating habits in order to see weight gain. you can't just eat a lot of calories because if you do that you will just become fat and could possibly become sick. you need to exercise and lift the weight while doing just moderate cardio. eat in a slight excess of calories, in a small surplus of your total calories. the longer you weightlift and move your muscles the more you will build muscle, provided you are doing it correctly, and when this happens you supplement your muscle with calories, mainly protein and you will gain weight. it has to be done slowly.
Thank you so much for posting! This topic helped address the thing I most worry about when I think about moving more towards a vegan diet. I average 98lbs but drop weight fast due to my high metabolism if I'm not consciously eating regularly every 2 hours. I worry I'll wither away if I only eat vegan or even vegetarian! I am so grateful you took the time to talk about what foods to eat to help keep the weight on. My daughter has a tree nut allergy so that still makes some things difficult but your other suggestions were great. Much appreciated!
Wish I understood the weight loss potential and ihow to get around it before I went vegan. That could have saved me time & pounds. Anyway, thankful I now have the info to get back on track.
My issues is pretty much my very very small appetite. Been like this all my life. If I ate according to my appetite I would probably eat 1-2 small meals a day. Since I most often don't even want to eat, cooking is a chore I do just because I know I have to, and it costs money and time and yeah. I should probably drink more calories. I think that is the only way
Arent saturated fats not healthy for humans and raise the potential for heart disease? Why would you add coconut oil which is almost pure saturated fats?
Dr. Mona, this is a subject I have searching for. I guess there is no money weight gain diets. We have been PBWF for 2 years. I am a good weight, and it's turned my life around. But my wife who has a very fast metabolism, is 95 lbs and 5' 4" and has always complained about being bony. Both sides of our family are light framed. When I see you went from 115 to 128, the task of getting my wife to a healthy weight seems enormous. Our GP says nothing is wrong when she gets weighed. What do you suggest? She is losing hope in the vegan lifestyle because she has lost weight when she could never really afford to.
Love this because it's really hardly ever spoken on which is shocking to me tbh but I really want to gain some due to loosing weight via autoimmune disease and long story but being petite and loosing weight I'm pretty small and just need to find that balance again while on this healing journey. 🙏🏽
I know losing weight is a real struggle for many people but trying to gain healthy weight is SO hard too if you have a fast metabolism. There's like NO resources! I'm just the "soft skinny" you mentioned. If a gain a little it's always a little but on my stomach. Just a little. Abd I never put on muscle. Even back in marching band and color guard in highschool I was working out basically for 2 hours a day and I never got the calves or arms my friends got.
Thank you for this video 🙌🏽 I find I'd been avoiding exercise and even running which I LOVE to preserve my weight because I didn't know how to eat mindfully! Will be incorporating there great suggestions! God bless you! Great video! For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life 💕 John 3:16 What an amazing thing to belong to God's family! We are so loved. 💕 1 John 3:1
Perfect timing! I've been working out more to tone up but I've noticed I've gain healthy muscle weight but losing fat. I only have 9% body fat. I am looking too lean and have been trying to gain some healthy "fat".
This video was perfect for me! Thank you! All around great content. I do have one question. I am not underweight anymore but I’m still trying to gain more weight. My question is: should I stop working out to give my body time to gain weight?
This is a great video thanks very much! I was underweight at a point and it was super unhealthy. I gained one stone and looked and felt great, but I ended up with a belly ! Now I’ve lost weight but in the wrong places so I’m dealing with loosing the belly and gaining weight elsewhere and want to do this in a health way. Thanks
Ever since I was a kid, I never gained weight because of fast metabolism. Lately, I discovered veganism and it just adds to my struggle to gain weight because I guess it's much easier to gain weight with eating meat and all of the gym instructor in my town are not vegan
Alpen is a museli, not granola. Museli is a European or Swiss breakfast cereal. Bob's Red Mill also makes a very good museli and it's far cheaper. Granola was invented in New York, at a sanitarium in the 19th century, and it's a sweet, oily, toasted grain product, whereas Museli is a mixture of grains, nuts, and fruit. Granola is associated with hippies, because many hippies became interested in the health food movement of the late 60's and 70's. Trail mix is associated with hikers. Trail mix is a mixture of dried fruit and nuts. I have the opposite problem with museli. It's too calorie dense to eat in anything but small amounts. It would be very good for trying to put on healthy weight. Another option is to make a bowl of oatmeal, but use soymilk or hemp milk to make the oatmeal more dense. Beans and whole wheat pasta aren't in your video but they are also relatively dense foods, especially if you cook the breans or pasta with a bit of olive oil.
Dr Mona thank you so much for this video I am 66 years old and almost 1 year vegetarian almost vegan and I would like to see more weight in my face. I took notes from this video and I thank you so much for it
Be careful with anything almonds because it’s really high in oxalates and lectins, sprouting does help. Sprouted walnut butter or sprouted pecan butter tastes so much better and healthier for you.
Great ideas! When you say “gain weight” are you talking about building muscle then from these healthy fats and proteins? Also you referenced your weight but how tall are you? Thanks Dr. Mona!
Whenever I eat my healthiest I am so small. I prefer to be right around 120 lbs ( I’m 5’4) but when I can vegan or even pescatarian I can barely keep 115 lbs. my body feels better but I’m not happy with the “look”. Thanks
there is something about nuts that i feel in their own presence would not make you gain weight - i have had days where im living off nuts because they are around the house and i am starving and drop weight
I have always thought that dieting is eating only green vegetables and drinking water. NextLevelDeit proved me wrong. I am eating delicious and nutritionally rich food and still reaching my fitness goals.
1. Almond butter/any but butter: nutrient-dense and high in calorie and fat
2. Coconut oil- organic, virgin and unrefined.
3. Avocado- use as a base or eat on its own. Ideally eating 2 avocados a day will help you to put on weight. It can be added to juices.
4. Seeds- high in fat, food for skin, great all around, e.g. crackers with seeds.
5. Cacao- so high in antioxidants, high in fats, great in oatmeal

7. Vegan cream cheese
8. Protein powder - e.g. hemp protein
9. Tahini- ranch dressing, creamy sauce, nutrient-dense

Last thing: DO EXERCISE, but don’t do even a bit of cardio, just work your muscles
Sometimes i search thing like this and all i get is how to lose weight we all need help and i feel like people should pay attention to both subjects and help them equally
Loosing almost 50 lbs post covid and a vegetarian since 1995 ,I will definitely follow this simple recipe diet. Thank you🙏
Thank you so much for making this video!
Yesss! We need some videos for gaining weight! My head always spins from not getting enough healthy nutrition food 😭
Jennifer Wilson totally get that - instead of nut butter, do tahini or even sunflower seed butter :)
@@DrMonaVand Thanks, I'll try that. There's hope she can eat cashews, fingers crossed after her appt next month that this is true! ☺
LarneyStinson7 yes I was about to ask this same question
Coconut oil would be an unsaturated fat
A tablespoon of coconut oil contains 14g of fat 12g of which is saturated fat and 1g is unsaturated. Huh?
Thank you. Ive recently been ill and stressed, lost 15 lbs rapidly so I hope to put that back.
I can relate. Stay encouraged
Avocados really do help honestly- I felt healthier after eating them. Gotta add them back on my list.
Love this because it's really hardly ever spoken on which is shocking to me tbh but I really want to gain some due to loosing weight via autoimmune disease and long story but being petite and loosing weight I'm pretty small and just need to find that balance again while on this healing journey. 🙏🏽
Information like this is so difficult to find. So Thank you so much for this!
Good luck
Watched a lot of these and this may be the most thorough detailed but concise. Thank you ❤
I feel sick after eating anything with meat! I’m so glad I found this!! Thank u
Thanks for the awesome video! It was so informative. Can you please post “What I eat in a day to gain weight video”? Thanks a million!
Would this be as equally effective for the male gender?
Thank you Mona for making this useful video to get weight in a healthy way.
Thanks
Vegan
Current weight: 104
Goal weight: 115-120
i have been eating everything that u mentioned in this videos, so happy tks
Ever since I was a kid, I never gained weight because of fast metabolism. Lately, I discovered veganism and it just adds to my struggle to gain weight because I guess it's much easier to gain weight with eating meat and all of the gym instructor in my town are not vegan
Thank you. So much!! No one ever talks about this! Finally! I've been searching for what seems like forever!!
So great that you did this. I have been thin all my life and as I grow older I want to gain some weight.
Omg I cant believe you made this video, I needed this so much
Thanks alot for this for you don't get enough of how to gain weight that is natural here. Thanks
Dr Mona thank you so much for this video I am 66 years old and almost 1 year vegetarian almost vegan and I would like to see more weight in my face. I took notes from this video and I thank you so much for it
Very helpful and will incorporate this in my diet!
I’m 10 kg underweight and have been for a few years now, I’ll update this comment in a year.
Omg please do monthly updates, I’m also around 10 kg underweight, maybe even 15
Same
Hi do u have the monthly updates?
Hey update?
Guys it’s only been three months and she said she would do an updated in a year
Be careful with anything almonds because it’s really high in oxalates and lectins, sprouting does help. Sprouted walnut butter or sprouted pecan butter tastes so much better and healthier for you.
Great ideas! When you say “gain weight” are you talking about building muscle then from these healthy fats and proteins? Also you referenced your weight but how tall are you? Thanks Dr. Mona!
omg you got all the way up to 128 that's inspiring thank you for sharing these tips 💖
This video was so helpful! i have been trying to gain healthy weight for a long time and I will definitely incorporate these ideas :)
Omg the chia seeds and water is genius!! So simple but I would’ve never thought about it myself lol Thank you so much!🙏🏻
I’ve lost so much weight since I’ve been eating cleaner. Thanks for this video. I hope that I can gain “some” of my weight back. 🌻
Bruly Ricard me too omg
Stuff like this makes me so excited for the gym after work!! Tytytyty!
Thank you so much, I needed this! ✨
Whenever I eat my healthiest I am so small. I prefer to be right around 120 lbs ( I’m 5’4) but when I can vegan or even pescatarian I can barely keep 115 lbs. my body feels better but I’m not happy with the “look”. Thanks
I am skinny fat. I am not trying to gain weight. But I do need to eat more calories in general and get in more protein.
Thanks. What about for men? ( 30yrs - 35yrs old not vegan ) Cook with the coconut oil?
Any updates? How did all the positive commenters here did after following the advice given here?
This video is super helpful as I have a condition that makes it very hard to gain weight but to be healthy at the same time. Thank you x
there is something about nuts that i feel in their own presence would not make you gain weight - i have had days where im living off nuts because they are around the house and i am starving and drop weight
Thank you for your tips! I’m on a weight gain journey to 30 pounds and I will be trying out your snacks especially!
please make more videos like this!
Thank you I just became Vega a month ago and was wondering how can I maintain or gain healthy weight ❤
Whats a good meal plan to gain 15 pounds?
Great video Mona!! Do u mind doing an updated video on this topic with some
more food options. Appreciate it!
I have always thought that dieting is eating only green vegetables and drinking water. NextLevelDeit proved me wrong. I am eating delicious and nutritionally rich food and still reaching my fitness goals.
