Turbo it, or put a super charger on it if you can. I'd lean more towards the super charger cause the Grand National has the turbo, and this would differentiate it from the GNX in one more small way.
@@blueberrycobbler I can understand that, but to me it makes it seem more fake. I also personally think it detracts from the video. Just a personal opinion though!
April gives me hope to not give up on finding a beautiful girl with a healthy down to earth personality who's into cars and Star Trek. They're out there.
Keep hope alive my friend! I found my version in 2020. Former model, never married, no kids, and she's their original owner of a Pontiac Trans-Am WS6 parked in the garage right now.
It's funny and entertaining to see April so enthusiastic and happy. Please, don't be too critical with her and her choice. Just enjoy the fact, that she has the same hobby. That's worth a lot.
Whoever built it, did a great job. April, who cares if it's fast, it's a cool one of a kind car. Drive it and enjoy it till you decide what you want to do with it.
Hoovie , the grand Camino may not be your cup of tea but you need to be happy because she is happy ! I have watched this channel since it started and I have never seen April over the moon happy like that before ! Enjoy it with her ! These moments in life don’t come along to often , celebrate with her !
April - you did well. Incredible build and when the tail gate dropped, so did my jaw - well done! For an engine - consider building out a 3.8 GNX spec engine, and leave the badging. ~ Chuck P.S. Love April's Garage on Saturdays, please keep this up.
Leave it the way it is if you are happy with it. As far as the badging goes have someone make you some GN Camino or GC X badges and decals. Cheap fix and then you won't be faking anything. Already love the sticker on the dash that says 1 of 1. The previous owner obviously loved it and did an amazing job. As someone who takes great pleasure in working on and fixing up my old cars I realize the effort and thought that went into this ride. Thanks Hoovie and April for all the videos and April your excitement is contagious. Glad you two found each other. BTW I think it is as awesome as April does. Can't wait to see what the Wizard thinks of it.
SO HAPPY FOR HER! I think April knocked it out of the park with this purchase. Body is straight, paint is great, and the tailgate treatment is exceptional in execution! Do a 100% GNX treatment with correct interior and motor! Love her excitement about it. Gotta get her another black 1967 and restage the pic of her with it! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
You're a lucky guy Tyler. You seemed to have found your soulmate. Just enjoy it and make her happy. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get much better than this. God bless you both! Cheers
April, my name is Nikki and I’m the previous owners daughter. Thank you sooooo much for the love and appreciation you have for my Dad’s ride you had me in tears. So just for a little fyi my dad was a mechanic in the airforce and a very brilliant self taught man when came to all his knowledge on working with cars, so let Jake know that this Frankenstein mobile was one man’s imagination come to fruition. This whole video had my smiling the whole time. April is a 1 of 1 she acts like a little girl on Christmas morning 🤣a true car girl. I know you went through some trying times Tyler, but I think God has bless you with this one.
April, you have done well. I love it! You have a one of one car, and the tailgate puts it over the top. Having said that, loose the 305 and put in a 3.8 turbo ( one out of an actual GNX would be preferred). And I say swap the interior from a Grand National.
Gotta love the positive energy and genuine enthusiasm she brings to these videos. I kinda missed that you proposed to her, Tyler. congrats :) Hope this time 'round you two found your forever people. And here's hoping your kids and April like each other too.
Saw and photographed this same car at a Hemmings Motor News Cruise night on 8/9/12. Even has the same Connecticut tags on it! It has held up very well for all these years. Congrats, April!
My younger brother and his boss built this car!!! Original owner unfortunatly passed away. I loved watching this car get built!! Take care of it the man that had the plan for this car was an awesome guy, had a few regal t types and grand nationals. This was just a cool fun build to add to his collection. If you would like more information I could put you in touch with the original builder?
Love this.. Love this build. So cool that April ended up with it. Remember when it first hit BringATrailer. What I think is more impressive than the tailgate is that the builder kept the rear quarter profile. The funny thing is there are quite a few ElCamino mashups because that generation of GM mid-size made it so many parts were interchangeable. But this builder took it to the next level by not using the ElCamino rear glass, back panel, roof, and door glass. Instead he grafted the whole roof of the Regal, but then shortened the rear space correctly by inserting the bed just like the ElCamino, and crafted the rear parcel shelf so it all looks like it was produced by a factory. Impressive to say the least, can't wait to see the wizard's take. On drive train, I would do the 3.8Turbo swap. For badging, loose the GNX stuff. Now, if you swap in Grand National seats and console, make it a Grand National... or leave the bench and give it some T-Type badging (Remember the T-type at this point was basically a GN with chrome and bench seat).
Congrats on your GNXCamino! It’s a joy to see how happy you are with it, April. I loved the GNs, GNXs, Syclones, and Typhoons when I was a kid. I’d go nuts every time I saw one. Getting to ride in them was the best day ever for me back then and those memories are still cherished even now.
BTW, put a GNX engine in it. Actually put all the GNX mechanical components in and swap in the interior too. It’d look really cool to drop in a bed liner with the GN logo & color scheme in the bed to complete this awesome build

Its definitely...interesting. As the former owner of an 1986 GN, this is what I would do, if it was mine. First, the 305 would go, and be replaced by a real GN engine. The GNX stickers/badges would go in the garbage. GN badges, hmm, ok, if it had a GN engine. Replace the interior with real GN stuff (I would do leather, in the original GN color scheme). And then just drive it, and be prepared for a crowd whenever you stop. April's enthusiasm is great!
I agree with your mods but I'd rebadge it as a GNXT. The GN is reasonable. It definitely falls under eXperimental and it's a Truck. Also, GNXT sounds pretty badass.

Oh crap!! I’ve seen this car here in Connecticut before!! That’s crazy, lol!! I was driving on RT84 and thought “WTF is THAT?? It ain’t no GNX but is incredibly cool looking!!” The guy driving must have either thought I was nuts slowing down and going around him on the other side, or, he was saying to himself, “Here we go again” because any car enthusiast would think it was a very nice car, but what exactly IS that thing??? It’s very cool to see that April has it and loves it COMPLETELY!!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻

Hey Hoover.....step away son, you've been LAPPED! I love it April!! I agree, if you swap out the engine (which sounds great!) Go for the 3.8L Turbo like it should have. Then you'll have to do the interior and if you have the cash, add T-Tops. haha. Does that tonneau cover/trunk lock? I hope. Funny that Tyler is complaining about, he's just mad you got it and he didn't, although like a good spouse, he should be happy "We" got it. Hilarious!! Can't wait to see what the Car Wizard thinks. LOL
What do you think we should do under the hood? Leave it alone? Cheap Turbo on the 305?? LS swap??? Steal the engine out of Tyler's Grand National?????
We'll take the high road and say you're permanently borrowing the engine from Tyler's Grand National
Dude, that Ute is so cool!!! Well done April
Possible crossover with Tony at Stay Tuned? Love doing cheap turbo kits over there.
Cheap turbo on the 305
Turbo it, or put a super charger on it if you can. I'd lean more towards the super charger cause the Grand National has the turbo, and this would differentiate it from the GNX in one more small way.
