  • Vitamin D Deficiency - 1.5 years of recovery
This video is about my year and a half long recovery from vitamin d deficiency. I have supplemented with vitamin d3 for 1.5 years.
    Months 1-6 = 70,000 iu/week
    Months 7-12 = 35,000 iu/week
    Months 13-18+ = 15,000-20,000 iu/week
I recently added vitamin k2, please talk to your doctor before taking this. Especially if you take a blood thinning medication. Vitamin k2 will have the opposite effect of a blood thinner and will help to thicken/clot your blood.
If you are have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), hormonal imbalance, or infertility, you may want to see an acupuncturist. Acupuncture has helped me a lot with balancing my hormones and regulating my period. I had amenorrhea for years and have finally been able to get multiple periods naturally.
I used to have really painful dry eyes. They have gotten better since recovering from vitamin d deficiency. I do have allergies though that make my eyes itchy and feel like sand paper. I take an allergy medication before bed and put vaseline on my eye lid, around my eyes and on my nose. I wash it off first thing in the morning.
Some other symptoms I had include:
red tinted skin, numbness/tingling in fingers and toes, fatigue, weakness, bone pain, brain fog, unbalance mood/irritable, difficulty losing weight, excess fat in mid section (visceral fat), bloating in abdomen, sugar cravings, muscle aches/tingling

I found out about my severe vitamin D deficiency in March and in two months my levels went upto 33 ng from 7. I am aiming for 55ng.I started with 4K IU of d3 then went on to 10k IU along with magnesium, fish oil,Vit k2. It was life changing! I also had to correct my severe B12 and iron deficiency with shots and infusions respectively.I took a zinc + b complex capsule too. I also made some dietary changes by limiting dairy, gluten and sugar. I am a different person now. I used to have extreme hair fall, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, poor balance, bone pain, weak teeth, numbness in my toes, lack of concentration , poor memory, depression, anxiety and brain fog. My career, social life, relationships everything was suffering for so many years. I feel like over 75% of my problems are gone. It didn’t take too long, only a few months for this entire transformation. Please do not ignore nutritional deficiencies . I hope this helps people 🙏🏼

BeautyGyaan no. But i will start it in near future after getting my levels tested again (after a month). I don't know how good my body is in absorbing D supplement. I don't think K2 absence for a short time (few months) is so important. Calcium accumulation doesn't develop overnight.

I had breast cancer. And now I'm Survivor!!!
But here's the deal... I was weak, kept a cold or a sinus infection, after I became cancer free. I was so weak all the time. I didn't have the strength to very much. For a year and a half. I then found out about my vitamin D deficiency
So I the Dr. Put me on some.i began to feel better. Then I went off of it bv my levels improved.
I took some otc . I could feel my decline again.
I broke my arm then my foot. And it was dismissed as the severe osteoporosis.
After watching this video and a couple more.i believe that since the chemo. My body is unable to keep the vitamin D.. But I wouldn't go in that sun for fear of cancer coming back...so now I have a better idea of what's going on.
I can't believer that I have every symptom she and another Dr named.
Thank you for the video!and information.
I finally feel like I can explain it better .
      Thanks again

I worked inside all the time as a house cleaner, for years I started feeling very tired but it got really bad about 3 or 4 years ago, a little over a year ago I finally got health insurance so I went for blood work and found out my level was at a 20! Now a year later my level is at 40, I feel much better but still recovering! My symptoms were severe fatigue, my period was very irregular, I started having Thyroid problems, my hair and eyebrows got thin, my teeth started getting bad, I had horrible allergies and anxiety, I was gaining weight and never had weight issues before, I also had numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, I got stressed and exhausted very easily! Vitamin D deficiency is not easy to deal with at all, I went from working full time to barely able to work part time! I'm hoping to get my level up to 50 and higher, best of luck to you in your recovery!

Plus even I'm suffering from PCOS and almost every symptom you mentioned and I felt so related. Diet and workout did not help me lose and pound and cause depression so I recently hired a personal trainer thinking I'm not working out correctly but now all the breadcrumbs have led to this and I'm actually happy because now I know the source of all the concerns and the right solution. YES! Eating sweets was one of my symptoms before I was put on vitamin D supplement. I love sweets regardless, but I was eating quite a bit of them and my job did not help because the cafeteria has cookies, brownies, etc. What freaked me out the most was the tingling in my fingers and toes. I’ve had it for years and just chalked it up to sciatica (which I have on one side of my body). When the opposite side of my body started tingling…I was so glad for the doctor to run the blood panel on me! My cycle had also become irregular and I’ve had tests + ultrasounds ran to find nothing wrong with me. Vitamin D saved me and I know I have a ways to go, however I’m starting to feelmuch better than I’ve have in years.

In response to your comment (in the video description) about Vit K2 and blood clotting, that's not the primary function of K2. You're thinking of vit K1 (which is primarily found in green leafy vegetables). K2's primary function is with calcium regulation (putting it where it goes and keeping it out of the places it doesn't belong). That is why D3 and K2 have such a mutually beneficial relationship... D3 improves calcium absorption by approximately 20x and vit K2 makes sure that calcium goes where it belongs, and not places like your joints, arteries, etc.. Thought you might be like me in the constant search to understand how we work on a biochemical and physiological level so I thought I'd share. :)

Like many who commented in this video, I was shocked that someone feels almost exactly how I have been feeling in the last year. I have many of the same symptoms that you mentioned, and despite consulting with many doctors, no one could properly diagnose my condition. It had been a very frustrating year. After I read tgat my Vit D blood level was at 30, I started vit D supplementation of about 2000-4000 iu. This dosage improved my energy level, but not at the point where I felt well enough and stable enough not to fall while walking. The many debilitating health problems have pushed me to deep frustration and hopelessness. But, since viewing your video and reading similar complaints from others here, I have gained courage to increase my dosage. Question: How low was your vitamin D reading in your blood? In the meantime, thank you very much for sharing. You, your video and the comments have given me hope that I could also get better. I am so glad that I am not the only one with this "mystery" disease, and that there may be a cure for this awful condition. Thank you, thank you.

    • @TaylorAnnHealth
      @TaylorAnnHealth  Před 7 lety +2

No my memory was not a problem. I felt better and better during my recovery, especially after the 6 month mark. As of about a month ago, I am only at 38.3. How much vit d are you taking each week? I'm only taking 20,000 IU. I think a slow recovery is better, rather than just slamming your body with a ton of vit d and expecting to feel completely better. Also, I'm not sure that increasing your vit d to "optimal" levels necessarily correlates with optimal body function. I think it still takes time for our bodies to recover and find balance again. So give it a little more time. Are you supplementing with anything else? Let your doctor know about your symptoms.

Muscle cramps and aches. I’ve done every test you could possibly do and everything is normal except Vitamin D. So I’ve decided to do it on my own starting out with 5000iu of D3, 100mcg K2 MK-7, 400mgs Magnesium Bisglycinate for the last week but honestly like you said it has made me feel a bit worse except the numbness and tingling reduced a bit the last 2 days. I’m upping it to 10,000iu of D3 starting today! After a month or two if I get results I’ll probably make my own video and post it! Hopefully my case will help others too! Hi Taylor! I find it incredibly irresponsible that doctors don't recognize how common this deficiency is. I have been going to the doctor with similar symptoms as your for many years and they are stumped on the cause. I recently tested myself and my vit d, 25-OH was at 21. I also have been plagued with the tingling in my fingers and toes, hair loss, muscle pain and aches, brain fog, loss of mental cycle, and food sensitivities and allergic reactions (negative skin test). I live in Southern California and I'm have an olive tan complexition. Can you share what was your vit D level when you were first diagnosed? Did you experience any start up side effects from taking high dose vit D? Congratulations on finding the cause because many of us are chronically ill for 10+ years and still searching. Thank you for sharing. Your videos will lead to others discovery and eventual healing.

    • @TaylorAnnHealth
      @TaylorAnnHealth  Před 6 lety +4

Hi there! Initially my vitamin d level was 15.1, in March 2016. My doctor did tell me not to take large doses of vitamin d3 all at once, although many people have told me that their doctor has them take a large dose of about 50,000 IU vitamin d3 once per week for a few months. I think it is difficult to diagnose and treat because of the way western medicine approaches the body and human health. I think it is also challenging because many of the symptoms we are experiencing can be caused my a variety of factors, including and psychosomatic causes. I personally have tried to approach my own health by focusing on my mental and physical well-being. Vitamin D3 supplementing has helped me a lot but it is not the only answer. I think healing also becomes for complicated for each person. Overall, I hope that people will focus more own their individual health and figure what makes them feel better because it might be completely different from what works for someone else.

Shortness of breath for 8 weeks now (started with unable to take deep breath) although its 98% gone away however still some weird restriction. My level was 12 and I have obviously had problems for years. I did not know how long it would be for me to feel improvements, I have been feeling very depressed and if I thought I would not get better I don't know if I could live like this. The worst is trying to sleep at night as I am continually tossing and turning with the pain in my legs ,arms and shoulders. I had not linked the pain in my sternum with the vit D deficiency but it does make sense now. I also had the tingling fingers and feet but mainly the fingers which originally was diagnosed as a trapped nerve in my neck. I do believe the tingling has almost gone which hopefully means something is working.

Vitamin D is not something you should stop. It is not something you get from diet. The "fortification" in food is supplementation, they add it to the food. However, the amount they add to fortified food is not enough. The only other alternative is being out in the sun during periods when UVB hits the earth. That is not always. Morning and afternoon sun is UVA rays. UVB rays reach your skin around midday, but only in the spring and summer. During winter all the UVB rays are absorbed by the atmosphere. If you wear clothing or sunscreen outdoors covering your skin, you won't produce vitamin D. Therefore, you must always take a supplement.

Both these vitamins are best in gel caps....fat soluble so this helps absorption. The K2 Mk7 makes the d3 more bioavailable. Keeps deposits out of arteries as well and directs calcium into the bones.

Hello - a few years ago I was diagnosed with a D level of 8. I'd been putting pain patches on a very painful elbow to no avail, and I didn't have much use of that arm. I have other conditions so I can't tell which of my symptoms were due to low vitamin D, but I'm sure the painful elbow was. The doctor put me on a large weekly dose of vitamin D (as you mentioned). I have taken vitamin D ever since, but recently I have had to start taking 10,000 iu per day again.
Thanks for explaining your experience.I'm wondering what other of my symptoms Vitamin D deficiency is responsible for. I have MS, and learned that it has been said to be connected to Vitamin D deficiency. My MS is "invisible" at this point, but it seems that MS symptoms mimics vitamin D defiency, and vice versa, and those symptoms are ones that I have.Thank you again. All the best to you!

My inflammation in my lower back made my piriformis muscles tight and caused sciatica down the right side of my leg...hand and feet numbness as well...I thought I was dying...i thought I had everything from HIV to kidney disease or cancer...my dumb ass DR made me get all these std, ultrasounds pee test opposed to just a simple blood test...when I finally found out I was Deficient they made it seem like it was no big deal...I found out in my research that the 50k a week vitamin was D2 and not D3...what that means is that D2 hardly absorbs in the body so as of Dec my lv is only 25...I'm currently taking 6k of D3 a day but I am about to up it to 11k daily to help my symptoms....If anyone needs advice feel free to ask...We all need to start taking control of our own health people!

Hello everyone, I found out about 3 months ago ago that I have VTD deficiency I went in for blood work and my levels were at 13. Some of my symptoms before finding out were headaches, fatigue, muscle twitching, muscle aches, body aches and really random anxiety. My doctor prescribed me 50,000 units and I gave to take them once a week. It’s been 3 months since I’ve started and although some symptoms I feel less there are others that still linger one of them is brain fog. Ugh the brain fog is the worst... it’s hard to explain it’s like a fuzzy out of body dizzy lightheaded anxious feelings. Someone told me that our bodies feel these weird feelings while taking the supplements because our bodies are trying to repair from the lack of not having enough in our systems. If anyone has experienced anything like this before and AFTER starting taking the supplements please let me know so I don’t feel so alone.

Low vitamin D signals deep winter when there is less food, so it would likely force the body to store fat. So, it isn't just about eating less makes the body store more. The body may even use more energy for your brain instead of storing it.

He was started on d2 50,000 units weekly for 8 weeks. But he still isn’t convinced his numbness and tingling in his feet and pain in his feet is because of the vitamin d deficiency.
