Thank you for your advice. I have used stranded cable in the past and yes it is little bit more durable than the cable in the set. But at the end of the day the stranded cable doesn't last long neither. I ended up using the metal wire from my welder. It lasts longer than the cable from the set that I bought.
I've done this using a stranded cable, like the cable for the hood pull, and that type of cable won't break so easily.
