My thoughts on The REON POCKET 3

- here I kind of ramble on and get my thoughts and opinions about the REON POCKET 3
so right now I have both the two and the three of these devices and they're pretty cool devices for how small they are and how they're able to get so hot and cold is pretty dang impressive
I kind of ramble on for a bit in this video so sorry for how long it is but overall it's great
Ordered the REON 5 pretty hyped to get it.
Oh dang they are on the 5th one already
These definitely did evolved pretty quickly
It is definitely a really cool device
... And if you can get the undershirts that go with it I kind of recommend those the most I wish I would have bought more I only have two

Are you able to wear and use, while connected to a USB-C battery?
I ordered mine from Expansys and it should arrive this week here in Australia. I did try to by it off Amazon JP, but the release date kept slipping back.
Oh yeah sorry I forgot to mention that...
So yes it's actually really really cool if you have the Reon 3 when you have it plugged into power and I'm hoping that your battery pack does apply with enough power I think it's 2.1 amps and as long as you can hit that PowerPoint to the device on your phone app it'll kind of unlock a special little feature so where it lets you click on the numbers like one to four for how cold you want it to be it'll do like a plus four
And that's really really cool cuz it lets the thing fully take all the power it can get right and can then go to like sometimes 60° or less which is really cool
Now as far as the heating goes heating is really really easy to do so I think that's capped just to prevent someone from burning themselves
And for energy consumption with the cold that's your biggest drawback is to make cold air with the type of system that it has is very energy demanding and unfortunately to make it this small in a package this portable it's very difficult and our technology has advanced pretty well but not that well enough to make it 100% efficient whereas heating something up is much more efficient and way easier
And yeah Amazon Japan they move stuff around all the time I think it has something to do with how they ship out to other countries because there's been times where I ordered something and they didn't ship it out till like 2 weeks later but on the bright side it's much much cheaper that way

@@j.collects1078 Thanks for confirming. It's actually not as bad as what I thought it would be. The good thing about being USB-C means I can also charge my LG Puricare Mask as well. I just need to settle on a new USB-C Battery Pack as my current one is charged through micro usb.

Yeah no worries I think I forgot to mention that part because I'm still limited till like 15 minutes videos
But I remember I did do that when I was messing around with it to see what it'll do and there is functions on it so you know that it's an actual intended feature when you have it plugged in and using it at the same time the little icons and stuff change but they only show up when it's plugged in and you're using it at the same time
They probably do mention it somewhere in their videos or like little booklet or something but it's still in Japanese so I wouldn't be able to know that directly unless I got it translated or something
I hope you get your product and you enjoy it and I freaking love this little thing such a cool little piece of tech
@@juliatabosa yes I have both the second one and the third
They are both really really good about the third one is much more efficient and it gets colder way faster and I think the max cold it can get is even lower which is good
And what's really cool about the third one is you can have it plugged in while you use it and it unlocks like a 4 + mode that keeps it running and keeps getting colder it's actually really really cool
And so yeah it's a pretty big improvement over the second but not Sue much to where you have to buy it like right away or something
If you have a second one then I would just say waiting until hopefully they come out with the fourth one or some other improvements because there's not enough to kind of justify it
But if you've never bought one then I would recommend just going straight for the third one because of the features that has and the four plus that unlocks when you can have it plugged in

So the feeling of it is kind of like an ice cube or like an ice pack on the back of your neck when it is in the cold mode
But it is not like an AC for your shirt so it's just one area on your back that gets cold
The plate is almost like 2in by 2in is the size of the plate that is in contact with your skin
So overall it does feel really good but it's only in that one area so if you're going past about a hundred degrees it is really not recommended at that point
I believe even in the paperwork it tells you that the device only really works if you are in climates less than 100 degrees
So that is one always to try to keep in mind and it is a little like sweat and like water-resistant but it's not waterproof at all
So then the best way to where it has to be with the shirt but those are really hard to get now because no one really bought them
But the next best option is if you get the neckband just make sure it's the #2 to the first one really sucks
So it does not blow air through your shirt that's what a lot of people think it does but it doesn't work like think of more like an ice pack on one spot
Yeah because I know depending on what part of Brazil you live in it might not be effective
2 to 5ﾟ doesn't sound like a lot but in terms of temperature it's actually significant. I'd go with the 3.
Yeah I know it doesn't sound like much but I know if heating and cooling that can make a big difference to a lot of people
But for the people that still have the second one I really don't see trying to go and buy the third one just because it doesn't cool down that much
Because they both when I tested the temperatures we're hitting about the same range just a couple degrees off for the second one depending on how hot the room was of course
And the third one did cool down and heat up way way faster and then having it plugged in so that way you could use the maximum power at all times was pretty freaking cool and really neat of a feature and just overall impressive
It's really hard to justify the jump from number two to number three especially with how hard it is to try to get the third one right now I believe
Because when I was looking for the third one online they were trying to sell them I think for well over $200 and then charging even more for like the accessories where would turn out to be like three times sometimes even four times the original price
But if you don't have one and if you're getting it for the first time then of course just go for the third one because that way you'll have the newest most up-to-date one and the cool new features that it comes with it

How's the sound? Do you think is noticeable on outdoors?
So if you're on like level one two or two it's not too too bad you can even have it in like a quiet space and you might hear like a slight little humming of the fan but it's not going to be super super noticeable unless someone's fairly close
Now if you're outdoors I really wouldn't worry too much about the sound unless you have it cranked up to setting number four on setting number four you can hear the fans going full throttle
It's like when you're playing you know breath of the wild on your switch and you start going out and start fighting a whole bunch of people and the fan ramps up like that it's kind of up on that level

Does the neckband mean you don't need the to buy the Sony shirt holder for the reon? And was the device noticeable when you didn't wear the neckband? Thanks for the video 👌
So if you get the neck band you do not need to have the shirt because the neck man will hold the device for you
Now the neck band the second one is a really good version of the neckband and that's the one I recommend getting if you want to get one
It has many different ways to adjust it and it even has the little silicone scoop so that way you can make sure all of the exhaust exits from your shirt and away from you
And since you can adjust it outwards and also in words so it's much more applicable to fitting different size necks and it is much more comfortable than the first one
Now if you can get the shirts and if you can get multiple that is the most comfortable way to wear it for sure hands down
But you run into a problem of finding a lot of shirts and if you're a bigger guy like me then you are into the problem of Japanese sizing really doesn't work with you
In American sizing I typically wear an l or an XL depending on the brand but with the shirts that Sony offers I got the biggest one and barely fits me and it's stretching a lot I can tell but it's a well made sure and so I'm not too worried about it stretching and like ripping but it is very comfortable
So I would say if you normally wear like an m or an l American sizing and if you get the largest one you should be pretty good
And the funny thing is is most people don't even realize I'm wearing it they think I'm wearing like headphones or something when they see me wearing the neckband
And most people just don't even realize I'm wearing it at all now I do wear like a little bit bigger shirts than me so like not super oversized shirts but a little bit baggy but not too much so that really does hide a lot of the device itself
And now ask for the shirts I use them when I'm just at home and that's when I use the shirt and there is a noticeable like little bump on your back but if you're walking or moving around and if you have a shirt over you really don't even notice it at all that much
So overall like it's very compact and it's not very noticeable at all and if you're wearing the shirts that they made at it's kind of seamless it kind of disappears but it's there's a little bump

@@j.collects1078 Thanks for that information. I didn't even consider the Japanese sizing would be different (of course). I might go with the band and maybe make some custom shirts, shouldn't be too hard. If you would wear a suit with dress shirt would the band stick out or could a collar conceal it, I wonder?

@@pm820 so if you have the neck band that little silicone kind of heat foil would stick out just a little bit I think in the instruction pictures it kind of shows it like poking out just a tiny bit but you can also just pop that right off it just has four tabs that holding in
I know that they want you to buy their dress shirts for wearing it like that cuz it has like the little pocket you know on the back to let air in and out to circulate and I think with that way you wouldn't have nothing poking out but then you would have to make sure the shirt fits you or get tailored
Yes I did have the same idea of just going and getting generic shirts and then getting them to a tailor or seamstress and then just adding the little pocket
Because it's nothing really that fancy on the Sony shirt that they made it's just the pocket and then a little bit of mesh window and that's it it would really benefit from a little strap holding the top part of it in or something
But he can get shorts custom made that would be the most comfortable thing because then you can get it placed closer to where you want the heat or cold to be and it would just be much more comfortable overall as an undershirt or just a regular shirt
But I think for me I just end up using the neckband the most just because I can wear it whenever and then if it loses charge I just pop it off real quick charge it and then go about my day

Sony is missing out on ALOT of money by not making this readily available everywhere.. they could make a killing in certain regions
Yeah they do help out but you just got to remember that they are really tiny and the fact that if it goes over 100° though pretty much useless
Put a really cool brothers and I love a technology that one into it plus how small it is really just shows how far we've come

Hi....where can you get the app?I bought the reon 3 but the box doesnt say the model...its rnp 1a...im not sure if they send me the correct one

Yeah that doesn't sound right
When I was looking on eBay i did see some people put pics of the box for the REON POCKET 3 and then in the description said it was for the first one
On the back of the device that goes pointed to your back the sticker should say "RNP-3" that's what mines says
It does sound like they did switch it on you
Now as far as the app goes if you have an Android you're going to have to go and manually look for the app on Google and then download it it's just going to warn you and get upset that you're not installing it from the Google Play store but that's because the Google Play store won't let you and the app that they have online that I did fine was 100% legit and it was up to date as of when the third model came out

Oh no that makes things much much harder
So you're going to have to possibly try a few different things I have seen mixed results on all of them
One of the first and a bit more easier things you could try to do is try to mess with the settings of your app store and change your region and stuff like that and possibly your ID to one of that in Japan.. this will also possibly include and trying out different vpns and GPS masking software and other things to pretend as if you are in Japan to download app
And then from there you start getting into sideloading the app store or the app itself from trying to find the app on the internet somewhere this is a bit more difficult as well too and a pain
Unfortunately I haven't sideloaded or jailbroken and iPhone since iPod touch 1st Gen and iPhone 1 and iPhone 3 when I used to work and fix those
And unfortunately I only use Android and have for all of my phones because I like to have full control of my devices and also access too much more wide variety of items and apps because you just go and download the APK files and sell them directly really really easy
so I hope this helps and good luck to you it is a pain to side load apps and apple doesn't like you messing with a lot of their stuff so they make it harder for you to manually download apps and install them
Or if by chance you have a cheap old Android phone or tablet then you just got to simply find the APK file by googling it and then install it and that's it
Again everything is at your own risk so be careful with that part don't want to be thinking it's the app and it's something else

@@j.collects1078 thank you so much. I managed to put a Apple ID in Japan region and download the app. The cooking doesn’t work too much. I didn’t notice much. The heater is much better
@@anopheles13 okay that's good to hear that it was a lot easier than I was seeing from other people
Yeah I didn't use a laser thermometer to check the temperature and the max I was able to get it was 62°, now that is all under perfect circumstances because it's not trying to cool you down so it'll probably feel cold but not that cold because that would be a perfect scenario
But it does feel colder or not freezer levels yet but it's getting there just got to find a way to have enough power stored in a battery I think that's the problem we're stuck with with most electronics nowadays
But as far as the heater though yeah that thing gets nice and toasty though it's a lot easier to conduct heat versus to cool something down or maintain cold that's a lot more energy you got to use and it's not as efficient yet we haven't had any super crazy way to do that yet with low power
But overall happy to hear you able to get everything working

but the only stores i can see that are official retailers in JP are Nojima and Bic Camera... then from there you gotta see what one is closer to where you are going to be in JP
i was able to just get mine Online so that made it easy to get them
then just make sure you look and see wat Ver you are getting and that way you don't over pay since they are all going for different prices now

It seem like a peltier cooling plate, one side gets cold while the other side gets warm with a fan blowing the heat side away.
Yeah it is one...
It is really cool too because you can use the app and then change it from hot to cold and surprisingly it can get pretty dang cool
It just really amazing to me that such a tiny device can produce such a good amount of cold and he is such a small form factor
But basically she ever seen those small cosmetic refrigerators or mini fridges the same thing it's inside of one of those
Is there a problem of sweating with the pocket 2 or 3
i mostly use the cold for mine they do have a coating to be a bit of resitance to the water
but it is not water proof at all
but all the times ive used the heater on it i dont get hot to sweat at all it can get really hot but i just like to be at like 60 degrees in my room and im the most comfortable at that so im a bad one to ask on that regard
How and where did you buy it? I'm from europe
So it might be a bit difficult to buy it because it is Japan only now there is other people that do sell them second hand or used that you would be able to buy them off of them but you would have to check around for that part
And then after that you would also have to download the app yourself luckily I have a phone with Android so I just download the APK file and install it myself but if you do that do it at your own risk and make sure you understand how to do that
So it's a bit difficult to get right now because everybody in Japan is buying them so they're selling out really really fast I got lucky and was able to be there when they came out
And you shouldn't worry too too much because the app is 100% in English and it is improper English as well not bad translations or part Japanese part English

So it depends what platform you are on...
And remember everything is at your own risk!!!
So if you have an Android it's going to be much easier what you can do is download the app from the internet and then you can manually install it
Now if you have an iPhone it makes it a lot harder
.... So you could try to change your location to Japan and your settings and see if you can go to the app store and download it like that
.... OR you can try to spoof your location so your phone thinks you are in Japan and then download it like that that
... OR you can try to manually download it but I know that it could have some complications and I have not use an iPhone in a long time so I don't know if you can still manually install apps with a computer
... OR you can try to download a another app store and download it like that and then manually install but again I'm not sure if that works anymore it's been a long time since I've used an iphone

How much does the reon pocket 3 cost
i was able to get mine from Japan for about 200 for shipping and the neck band as well
but i think in Japan they are about 120 to 100 just for the device and they should be easier to find them now i got mine when it came out so it was hard to find at the time

Sorry you are really out of luck on that one
It is meant for Japan only and the app is only on the Japanese app store
If you're okay and you know how to download apks and sideload apps then you would be able to get that part done easily
And if you don't want to go the eBay route the only other thing you would have to do is either go to Japan or do proxy or if you know someone that lives there have them ship it to you
But it is pretty hard to get your hands on one because they kept selling out I got lucky when I was on a website that sells like Japanese HomeGoods and stuff like that and they had it back in stock that same hour I was on there

@@MrHero1976 so you have an iPhone it makes it a little bit more difficult
And I have an Android phone so I just sideload the apps myself
So with an iPhone I forgot what it was called but it's pretty much it's version of side loading so that way you pretty much just download the app from whatever internet browser you use but Google Chrome you download the file directly and install it yourself like if you were doing it on a computer
It's super easy with Android because you just have to look up whatever you're looking for and make sure the file is an APK file
With iPhones it's much much more work and stuff you have to do to get the apps you want to get downloaded to your phone
So you'd have to look for how to sideload an iPhone or download directly the file type that is the app
That's the most that I can think of with the iPhone right now I haven't messed with the iPhone since iPhone 1 back in 2010
