    Had my ac serviced and drains cleaned… paid a guy 350 to come do it. About 2 months later noticed a wet spot in the ceiling upstairs, checked it out and low and behold there was insulation shoved into the pipe… now while this wouldn’t be uncommon because it’s an attic, this attic was pretty much finished so who ever it was had to go find the insulation. Needless to say I filed a complaint against them.

      2023 is the year i learned vinegar is basically a super liquid. Add a small amount to drinking water to slowdown bacteria growth(romans did this), cleans faucets, cleans cooking pots, can be used to get the taste of soap out of your bottles without leaving any taste of its own. And defo more uses.

    Why not just tell everyone that a periodic application of bleach right in the p trap will prevent predatory ac techs from charging exorbitant prices to pour bleach in the trap like it was initially plumbed to do. And explain what an air trap accomplishes in the first place. This is basic homeowner maintenance that is never explained.

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Před rokem +6

      This is an entertaining short. Don't pour bleach in your drainline. Bleach fumes will corrode the evaporator coil. Vinegar is better for drainline maintenance.

    • @whodathunkithuh1001
      @whodathunkithuh1001 Před rokem

      @@WorldofHVAC Yea. Ok. I've heard this also, if done slowly in a controlled manner, it's perfectly fine because vinegar doesn't do anything to clean the alge buildup, again having to call an "ac tech" to clear the drain. The ac tech in turn will use bleach to get it clear acting like he did something spectacular for a $150 service call. People with common sense are a rare occurrence these days, good for you. People with common sense been pouring a small amount of bleach in those traps for decades with no need to call ac techs to do the same in return, keeping them clear year around without deteriorating drain pans.

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  Před rokem +1

    • @whodathunkithuh1001
      @whodathunkithuh1001 Před rokem +3

      @@WorldofHVAC Yes. In 16yrs I've poured bleach in my air trap about 6 times. The bigger problem is ac installers leave huge gaps in the return box that transfer dirt, debris, and hot/humid are straight into the avap coils, causing excessive water in the drain pans, it's another nice trick ac installers pass onto the homeowner. I totally sealed my return air plenum from pulling dirty, hot, humid air from inside the walls all the way from the attic space and adjoining room walls to prevent overworking the unit and clogging the evap, drain pan, and air trap with dirt, debris, and algea buildup. Hell, I've seen denim bluejeans and newspaper shoved in the walls inside the return air plenum by desperate homeowners trying to seal leaks, most houses I've peeked in, were totally unsealed. Great for service calls. Do everyone a favor, and detail this issues so you can make your money honestly on installing a maintenance free system like they were intended.

  • @sbryan40
    @sbryan40 Před 8 měsíci

    Easy fix. Pour white distilled vinegar twice a year. Understand when you stop using your a/c unit, water will stay in your "p" trap. That is why it's very important to add vinegar so it mixes with water but will not dry up and clog your drain. Second time would be when you use your a/c for the first time. That will wash off the vinegar that was poured during the winter time. While your a/c runs, your drain line will never clog. Make sure your drain outside is also clear and not stabbed into the ground.
