  • In this video, I'll be reviewing the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC911P1. This quartz chronograph is from the Prospex line of watches, which are designed to be stylish and affordable.
    I've chosen this watch to review because it's one of the hottest chronographs on the market right now.
    So.... is the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC911P1 the best quartz Chronograph of 2022? Let's find out in this video!
    Official Watch Details:
    The Seiko SSC911P1 Prospex Speedtimer 'Go Large' is a Solar powered watch with 100m water resistance. The SSC911P features a classic-looking chronograph with a Silver dial and a stainless steel case and bracelet with a three-fold clasp with a push-button release. The glass used is Curved Sapphire Crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface.
    Adding to the popular ‘Speedtimer’ watch collection, this particular design features an increased ‘Go Large’ case size - the original was 39mm, whilst this piece is 41.4mm, featuring a tapered bracelet, aluminium bezel and tachymeter for increased practicality and visibility. Conveniently, this watch charges from both natural and indoor lighting.
    Featuring the Seiko Solar V192 movement, the SSC911 has an approximate accuracy tolerance of +/- 15 seconds per month and a 6 month Power reserve once fully charged. This model is finished in full Stainless Steel with a pull-out crown. The hands and the markers have lumibrite to make them visible at night (once fully charged). The case size is 41.4mm and thickness is 13mm with a lug width of 21mm and the entire watch weighs approximately 165gm. The Speedtimer SSC911P models have a Water Resistance rating of 100m.
    The additional features of the SSC911P Speedtimer are a screw case back, Tachymeter function, 24-hour hand, a chronograph up to 60 mins in 1/5 second increments, a date display, small second hand, overcharge prevention function and a resuming electric power generation display.

    I am quite pleased with this watch for the most part. Styling is top notch and the solar recharging is awesome. It needed a half link to fit my wrist comfortably and even though Seiko doesn't offer one, a Seiko fan on the internet does and it matches 100% to the existing bracelet links. I do find the date window too small and very hard to read but I would rather have one than not. I was also surprised there is no screw down crown but then it is a Speedtimer and not a dive watch and I have plenty of others for that.

    I was trying to get the blue dial limited (cough 10,000) edition, but it was sold out so got an SSC911 instead and so happy I did. Got a Seiko ‘mojito’ a few months back and Seiko just keep knocking it out the park

    nice looking watch, but that weirdly placed date window would bother me. And the fact that it's a black on white date wheel. Why not make it a little less visually obtrusive and have a white on black wheel? Also not at fan of 21mm lugs.

      Seiko have been trying real heard to move up market recently. Without really bringing anything more to the table. So you'll end up with pretty poor value most of the time.

    I bought this watch and I absolutely love it, but I have a question... Has anyone else noticed that the action on the upper "A" button has less of a "click" when you press it than the lower "B" button to reset the chrono? Obviously, it's nothing like an automatic watch where there is a very definite click, but in my case the upper button feels a bit "softer" than the lower button and while there is a subtle click, it's less than the lower button. Is this normal? Anyone else notice this?

    • @TheWatchChannelAU
      @TheWatchChannelAU  Před rokem +2

      Hey Matt, no need to worry. I noticed this on the one I reviewed. I think the bottom one has a more pronounced click due to the mechanical component of resetting the chrono hand.

    • @TheWatchChannelAU
      @TheWatchChannelAU  Před rokem

      Hi mate, without doubt, the SSC911. The 909 is too fancy imo. The bracelet alone is enough to put me off. That black finish will look very scruffy once it gets some scratches. That would worry me if i owned one. But...everyone is different, if you like that style then go for it mate....don't be swayed by others opinions because they arent the ones paying for it & wearing it..you are my friend!

    You forgot to mention that the power of the battery can be shown. Pressing the start knob and stopping it. And than presse the second button ik under shows you the capacity of the battery. Therefore you have the second red meter which is between F full and E Empty. Maybe you explain but i missed it.
