He said he stopped the character because of possible mental problems. It wasn't just to do this stuff, pink guy tracks for as many or more views and possible income (concerts would have been problematic). Record deals are generally bad for people anymore just like MCM's unless you're clueless on everything, then sign away your soul/rights.
the main thing stopping him is his epileptic seizures, many of his zany seizure-like actions actually triggered some actual seizures from time to time and his doctor said that it could potentially kill him if he continued. I'm sure doing the frank voice was extremely hard on his vocal cords too.
