I just came across this vlog. If I hadn't been watching your regular videos I would have thought you a nutcase. But I had been watching "Relaxed Stu" and so I spent much of the time laughing out loud at my computer screen. Lots of great advice in this vlog, though. In a very short time you've helped me with my uke struggles, not by teaching me chords and riffs but by placing so much emphasis on relaxation. I now spend all my uke time with a relaxed hand. Barre chords are no longer a problem for me because all my emphasis is on barre finger placement, not on trying to stuff the strings through the fretboard :-) Thanks SOOOOOOOOO much for those lessons.

I have trouble playing the following F chord CFAC (3rd) and G chord DGBD (5th). Is there another formation that may be a bit easier?. I can reach but can't get my fingers behind the 5th and 7th fret respectively.

I hear you - there are two ways to play this bar chord formation...I show them in this video. Both are based on the "D" shapes. The ones you are describing involve a lot of flexibility in the ring finger...which can be tricky. Watch the four tips for using your fingers efficiently that I outline in the second section of this video...these will help. WHERE you place the finger and SLOWLY developing flexibility in the joint can make this tricky chord form - with time & patience -easier. Hop this helps...alternatively, use the form where you bar with the 1st finger and then use the pinky on the top note...all the best, Stu

Hi Alyce, Not totally sure what your question is asking - but maybe this will help: the 1st part of the video is meant to be humous...going through all the bar chord shapes as quickly as possible so they fit into one tidy video package. (You know, how everything has to be fast fast fast these days...ha ha!) The 2nd part of the video dives unto 4 tips for using your fretting hand more efficiently. Happy playing, Stu
