You are amazing. I enjoyed the lightheartness of the beginning and believe it or not my barre chords were better, not perfect.but better because I wasnât freaking out about them- didnât have time. Thanks so much- from your 80 year old fan
Great mind blowing bar chord understanding. Learned in minutes...super!
Glad you liked it! Super student Gyani!!
first explanation of how to roll forefinger to have a straight side to bar the chords, ty
Nice - happy to help Linda!
Somehow I have managed to miss this video... until today. Stu, this is the funniest lesson to date, (but filled to the brim with absolute gems) Thanks for all the helpful barre chords tips and tricks up the neck.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, some tongue & cheek with this one đ Glad it was helpful...happy barring!
I found a great teacher! Thank you for the lessons snd the giggles! đ
I LOVED this. And so fun!!!
Danke fĂŒr diese Unterhaltsameđ Ukuele Folge mit sehr wertvollen Tippsđ
I just came across this vlog. If I hadn't been watching your regular videos I would have thought you a nutcase. But I had been watching "Relaxed Stu" and so I spent much of the time laughing out loud at my computer screen. Lots of great advice in this vlog, though. In a very short time you've helped me with my uke struggles, not by teaching me chords and riffs but by placing so much emphasis on relaxation. I now spend all my uke time with a relaxed hand. Barre chords are no longer a problem for me because all my emphasis is on barre finger placement, not on trying to stuff the strings through the fretboard :-) Thanks SOOOOOOOOO much for those lessons.
Thanks for your comment Larry! Very happy that my videos (Especially this one) Have been helpful for you. A relaxed hand can do more & keeps us enjoying our music. đ¶đ
And yes, I did make this one in a Monty Python style on purpose đđ
Happy playing! (Ps. Hope youâll Subscribe to the channel and share my videos with the other players⊠Itâs a big help đ)
@@UkuleleZen I should have mentioned that I have a secret weapon when it comes to keeping relaxed. It's an arthritic thumb that announces loudly when I press too hard. BTW, I'm already a subscriber and a Patreon :-)

@@UkuleleZen Thanks for bringing me back to it again! Good review. Very important tip you share about calling out the name of the chords. I've been doing it. I'm starting to get comfy with the fret board. It's a fun journey đ
Totally mind blowing đ
Ka-BOOOM! đ
That video is funny Stu, I learn a lot jajaja
Thanks Joel! Totally mind blowing đ
youâre awesome lol
Cheers. I am merely a reflection your awesomeness đ
revisiting! that was fun, and jammed with info....this year, I can probably name the chords up the neck if i got slow!
A form of brain gym, eh?
Thanks, Stu! My left hand has strength issues, and your tips on technique are going to be very useful.
Thanks Kathleen I hope this lesson helps you!
the first one is the best. i will stay with that til it becomes automatic...THANKS!!!
Those four pricinples at the end have helped me out...a lot. Be well, Stu
How about if your finger is curved towards the other fingers - could be from my piano playing too... do you bring the finger higher on the fretboard?
Absolute quality tutorial, showing the intricacies of playing bar chords ,is the rolling of the index finger the best way to get a clean sound,i find this really hard to do.anyway thanks for your great lessons
Thanks for watching⊠I hope you found it helpful. Barchords are an interesting combination of finger strength and surrendering to gravity⊠Stick with it youâll find the right amount of pressure that your hand needs by exploring and paying attention to what works for you. Be well & play on! đ¶đ
Mind blowingđ€Ł
Totally đđ€đ¶
Great Video Stu! Got an extra 6 minutes? How about doing one for the baritone Ukulele. Or maybe a pdf on your patreon page would be nice. Thanks.
That's a great idea...I don;t have a Baritone Uke - I have a classical guitar however....too many strings. Thanks for watching anyways!
I love it but I will have to come back when I am a little more advanced. You know what would be helpful to me I think is a foot operated pause button (for my desktop computer) so I can keep my ukulele in my hands -and make notes ..
Merry Christmas, Stuart!
Thanks for watching Patricia - and I hear you! This video was intended to give TOO MUCH info so people could reference it again & again and learn more from it. ;) If you invent the hands free video pausing device, you'll make a million dollars! (FYI after you click on a You Tube video to pause it, you can use the space bar to pause & start the video again...you may already know this, but wanted to share that tip...) All the best, Stu
thanks the ring finger barre to move the open D chord shape
Glad that was helpful John! Please subscribe to this channel for more videos & content like this - I post every week đ¶đ€đ
@@UkuleleZen Any reasons / tips in wrapping around the thumb to fret the string closest to you or is that ILL-legal?
I had to drink a lot of coffee to follow this lesson ,âââ but now, it's ok, I can play a bar chord đ thanks a lot âïž
Nb: I can't believe you scream better than a woman....so amazing đ
I think I had several espressos before filing this one - it was supposed to be helpful AND funny ;-) Cheers & play on!
The best way to learn something unfamiliar ;-) and to stay relaxed, I'm sure, is to laugh! Thank you for making me laugh and teach me so much ....
I hope this will continue for a long time! đđ
Stu! This guy stole your face and voice!! Tell him to relax! đ (jk it has a slight comic effect despite all the mind-blowing going on)
LOL Tom đ YesâŠtotally mind blowing! đđ€đ¶
I have trouble playing the following F chord CFAC (3rd) and G chord DGBD (5th). Is there another formation that may be a bit easier?. I can reach but can't get my fingers behind the 5th and 7th fret respectively.
I hear you - there are two ways to play this bar chord formation...I show them in this video. Both are based on the "D" shapes. The ones you are describing involve a lot of flexibility in the ring finger...which can be tricky. Watch the four tips for using your fingers efficiently that I outline in the second section of this video...these will help. WHERE you place the finger and SLOWLY developing flexibility in the joint can make this tricky chord form - with time & patience -easier. Hop this helps...alternatively, use the form where you bar with the 1st finger and then use the pinky on the top note...all the best, Stu

Thanks! đ€đ¶

Whats the purpose of 7 minutes or 10 etc? I just have to watch 3 times ... and its not very zen. Totally angsty . . .
Hi Alyce, Not totally sure what your question is asking - but maybe this will help: the 1st part of the video is meant to be humous...going through all the bar chord shapes as quickly as possible so they fit into one tidy video package. (You know, how everything has to be fast fast fast these days...ha ha!) The 2nd part of the video dives unto 4 tips for using your fretting hand more efficiently. Happy playing, Stu
I LOVED this. And so fun!!!
