- This is a Tutorial of how to create Bottled Memories that look like they are ready to view in any Pensieve. We decided to do Severus Snape's Last Memory given to Harry at his death; but you could make this any person's memory you would like (ex: Tom Riddle, Slughorn, etc). This will be a great prop for your potion collection or next Party!
You will need:
1 Glass Bottle with a stopper instead of a cork
Rubbing Alcohol
Metallic Acrylic Paint (I used pearl)
funnel
Potion label printed on sticker paper (or regular paper and glue) I
used fancy edged scissors, and a small hole punch to give it a
decorative look.
silver twine (optional)

So beautiful. Made me sad tho. RIP Alan Rickman and Snape 💔
okay... I'm officially obsessed with your channel and will be broke here soon cause I'm about to raid Michael's... and I'm not sorry...
Birdie Kawaii have fun creating! Thanks for watching!
I love your trick with the cording and jute on these potions! I've been looking for Potter potion videos for years, and you have the best ones on the internet, hands down. Thank you!!
Julie H you're making me blush! 😊 thanks for the channel love ❤️ and thanks for continuing to watch! ⚡️
@@CookingandCraftChick I'd call that Pearlized Paint, not Metallic.
@@JadenYukifan28 it is pearlized but it is classified as a metallic because it has mica powder in it. Some pearlized don’t have the mica powder that separates like the metallic paints do
I absolutely love this!!! I love Harry Potter and I needed some DIYs to do for my room. This is sooooooooooooo beautiful!!! xox
Liv Hanna thank you and thanks for watching!! ⚡️
Thank you for making the memories of my favourite character of all times. I love Severus Snape ♥️
this looks so beautiful, i have been watching ur videos all day XD
Anexey Thank you 😊 and thanks for watching!! ⚡️
I love these. I am watching all of your vids. My daughter is having a Harry Potter themed birthday party. And the kids playroom is Harry Potter themed, it looks like a room in hog warts and is AMAZING. So these will be going in a shelf up high in that room.
I love watching your channel love all your potion bottles.
puni luv thank you and thanks for watching! 😊
What a beautiful project! I love it!
+Ivone Ray thank you, this is one of my favs too! ❤️
This is mind-blowing information. I still think there should have been a plot twist of all that is Snape as Harry's dad. So many questions left unanswered..
This is amazing 😍
Brinda Sachdanandam you're making me blush!! 😊😊😊 ❤️
I love it.
beautiful
Saw a couple of your videos today and I'm hooked! Subscribed immediately! Your DIYs are beautiful and very well executed, yet easy to reproduce and cheap in materials.
I will legit try out a lot of these! I've recently started with a potion collection, so far I've only mixed some water with painting inks and glitter because I do like to keep up appearances that these are "actual potions", but the ones you make are just gorgeous and will be a beautiful addition! Now to find pretty and oddly shaped bottles, they're not easy to find over here...
Though, I'm unsure as to whether I'll be making Snape's last memories... I just love him so much and I think I'll be in mourning for the rest of my life. Snape as well as the late Alan Rickman have meant so much to me since I was a young child, helping me through all kinds of tough moments in life. The head has accepted Alan's death, but the heart is in denial. When it comes to Snape, well... he was fiction to begin with, so I've decided a long time ago to keep him alive in my mind and to give him a happy life :)
Kissa Kawaguichi Snape and Alan Rickman will ALWAYS have a place in my heart!❤️ thanks for watching!
Awesome
+Paris Francoise Beahan thank you and thanks for watching!
U know I am obsessed with Harry Potter 😍😁
Me too! 😉💜
very cool!
Teresa White thank you and thanks for watching!
May 2 1998? That's before May 3rd 1999 Moore Oklahoma Tornado, and I was not expected that they fill the date on the bottle.
I made it with some blue soapy water and it look just like this
Harry collected his tears that contained the memorie
Who else is here because they were assigned this for potions class?
Make more about making the harry potter potions! Pls pls pls i beg you with alll my life!
Always /*
I love this! All your potions are amazing. Would you get the same swirly effect if you used glycerin or baby oil instead of alcohol?
Emma Washington baby oil bubbles up and I haven’t tried glycerine. But I know acetone works too. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!💙
@@CookingandCraftChick oh ok. Cool! Thanks
Would mica work in this with baby oil. Or would the mica clump?
I am so glad I came across your channel. I have been making potion bottles for my HP classroom. Do you know (or think) if 90% alcohol would give a better or longer lasting swirl effect?
It works about the same 😊 Your classroom sounds super magical!!
Can you do unicorn blood but this recipe?
Are you willing to sell items on etsy or? I miss Professor Snape so much 😍😭
im guessing these are pretty easy to clean out if you need to empty the bottle at any time? I just wanna fill one i have with a cork for a few hours then empty when i get home. for a renaissance
key kereon yep, they are really easy to clean out. Have fun at the renaissance! Thanks for watching!
Can you use distilled water and glycerine with the paint or just alcohol?
Yes you can use it with the paint too
Is there anything else that can be used instead of rubbing alcohol to recreate the same effect?
MadHatterChris acetone should work as well. You can use water it just won’t last as long because overtime it gets kind of slimy. I hope that helps 😄
My daughter and I are making some more of your potions this year and I was wondering if you’ve ever used 50% alcohol? And if not do you think it would work? I told her she should take some pictures to send you.
Jo P it will definitely work and I would love to see pictures 😊
Hi! Question: Is there a diference between using the rubbing alcohol or the ethyl alcohol?
You should be able to use both the same.
Hi!❤️
I really like you video!
I wanna ask you, Can you change the paint with metallic powder?
And can you change the alcohol with water?, What if you used water with a little alcohol?
I hope you answer me❤️❤️
Yes you can use mica powder instead of paint and if you don’t want to use alcohol you can use water with some glycerin. I hope that helps 😊
@@CookingandCraftChick thank you ❤️❤️
@@CookingandCraftChick but It's okay to use water with alcohol, right?, Like more water, and added a little alcohol
@@safafathinah4499 yes you can mix the 2.
So awesome! Where did you get that bottle??
Ninette fernandez I got this bottle from Hobby Lobby. But you can also buy it from Amazon here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X19K3H6/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=cooandcrachi-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B06X19K3H6&linkId=4ca0cbb7cd80342b738b21140819f16e
I hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Cooking and Craft Chick, have you gotten an affiliate link so you can get a kickback from Amazon when someone purchases from your recommendations? Just something to help you pay for more potion ingredients 😉
Would this bottle be safe to carry on ur person for an outfit? Or is the rubbing alcohol a safety hazard?
It should be fine, it’s totally safe to carry. I would glue the top in just to make sure you don’t have any accidents. 😊
Just curious, how long does it take for the paint to settle?
Emilie Anciaux it takes 2-4 hours for it to completely settle to clear. Thanks for watching!
Does the acrylic paint settle like the mica?
Yes it does; now sometimes the paint will tint your alcohol or water with glycerin but the actual mica in the paint that swirls will settle to the bottom just like the mica powder.
Can you do this without rubbing alcohol? I have bottles but they have cork tops.
You can do it with distilled water and glycerin. You can see how in my potion for dreamless sleep here: czcams.com/video/YExiLiqRH54/video.html
I hope that helps 😊
@@CookingandCraftChick Thank you!
Can you use any rubbing alcohol? What about clear glue?
Kimberly Batchelor any rubbing alcohol will work. If you use glue you will not get the swirling effect you get with the alcohol. You can also use water, but it will get scummy over time; which is why I use the alcohol. Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Also, glue will dry out eventually, even in an airtight bottle. This has happened to me before.
Does it stay the same or does it stop moving?
It will stop moving and settle, and go clear, once you shake it up again it will swirl and move once again. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Where did you get the glass bottle from?
I got this bottle from Hobby Lobby, but Amazon carries it as well. I hope that helps thanks for watching! 😊
Can i use something else rather than rubbing alcohol???
devanshi Mavadiya you can use distilled water with some glycerin, but over time it still may get cloudy like a snow globe can. I hope this helps, thanks for watching! 😊
Would this work with Mica Powder instead of paint?
Yes
@@CookingandCraftChick Thank you I have found your videos so inspiring and entertaining 💕
@@ameliawhyman95 Thank you!! I’m glad I could inspire you! 😊💜
what happens if you use water instead of the alcohol?
Straight water gets really yucky over time. You can use water if you add a little bit of glycerin to it (the same type of solution that’s in a snow globe). If you aren’t making your potion long term shelf life than straight water will be fine. I hope that helps, thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you so much for responding!
what if you don't have rubbing alcohol
Two Trendy Twins you can use water but eventually it may get kind of scummy. Where the alcohol won't. Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Two Trendy Twins You can try clear glue as well, it doesn't evaporate
It dries out after a while, however.
I tried this potion but when I shook the bottle, it just turned milky white
Did you use a metallic white paint? The mica that is in the paint is what gives it the swirl effect. If you did and the mica is settled and your alcohol is white instead of clear; carefully without shaking up the mica from the bottom dump out the white alcohol and refill it with new alcohol with the mica on the bottom. This should give you the same effect as mine. I hope that helps.
@@CookingandCraftChick I used the Fevicryl pearl white metallic colour. Its not of the same company as yours but it is metallic only. And I took out the white alcohol and filled it with new sanitizer but there was no swirling effect. Just the normal alcohol was left in the bottle even after I shook it hard.
I’m so sad
What happens if you use more paint?
Frieda Martin as long as you don’t use a crazy amount it should work the same, except your solution may not go completely clear when the Mika settles. I’ve also found if there is too much paint you don’t see the swirling as well. I hope that helps!
That's not rubbing alcohol, that is isopropyl alcohol.
