- Customer brought this saw to me non-running after replacing the piston & cylinder, unfortunately the customer put the piston in upside down and ruined the rings and cylinder. In addition the flywheel had a broken off key, the carburetor gaskets were bad, the fuel pump was bad, the sprocket was worn out...the list goes on. Customer said to fix it, so I fixed it. It runs quite nicely now.

This was in the shop again yesterday. Bar oiling hole got blocked, chain ran dry and started to smoke. Customer stopped running and brought to me. Clutch service, chain sharpen, bar dressing later it left running and oiling. Nice to see an engine that I built from parts out doing work in the field.......
What gasket material did you use for that crankcase cover? Also would you happen to have a part number for the piston ring compressor you used?
very impressive post more
Great video! Definitely going to subscribe
So this machine came back yesterday with a not running right complaint. It looks like it got wet, the plug is corroded externally, the clutch springs and shoes are rusty, clutch drum is rusty. What stopped the show is the chain brake, it's a farmertec cover and it melted and the brake band is out of position and rubbing the drum now. New housing on the way along with some clutch parts.
This one came back again with a fuel leak this time. I put in a new fuel line from the purge primer to the carb/tank vent and it is back up and running again.
I’m working on the same saw. I have a question regarding the little spring on where it goes. Thank you
Inside the impulse line from the cylinder to the handle housing.
What is that stop tool? Is it from stihl too?
Yep. Locking strip, STIHL part number 0000 893 5905 $2.20 at the dealer.
It is better put everything original.I always buy original parts
