My first jazz pianist, introduced by my mother to me in the 1960s, when I was in high school. The album was “Camelot,” a great album. He had one of the greatest ears and improvising talent of all time. Loved him!
I feel the term “Chameleon” suits him well. He adapts to any musical environment and that makes him a true musician. Not to mention his amazing sense of humour!
He will be remembered as a great jazz & classical pianist, composer, & conductor.
RIP. What a life lived.
