      You’re so welcome! You can always google homeschool groups in your area too, or sometimes they might be listed on the hslda website. Good luck!

      @BethPavlik  Před 2 lety

      Have you looked at the homeschooling laws for Texas? I believe they are pretty lenient. You can absolutely homeschool your autistic child.

    Question: Does the state pay you for any supplies or anything for homeschooling your kids?

    • @BethPavlik
      @BethPavlik  Před 3 lety

      That is a great question! I have never heard of the state doing that, but I'm not 100% sure. My educated guess is that, because you are considered a private school when homeschooling, you are responsible for your own supplies.

    great video. my baby is only two years old but by the looks of it, I may pursue home schooling when she's older.
    do you know anyone personally who has chosen the private tutor route? if so or not, any pros or cons with this option or personal experiences you care to discuss? I'm in California and that is option 3.
    also any thoughts on Khan academy, Curriki and easy peasy all in one home school regarding curriculum? thanks again.

    • @BethPavlik
      @BethPavlik  Před 2 lety

      Hi! I'm sorry, I don't know anyone personally who has chosen the tutor option in California.
      I have never used Khan academy or easy peasy but others that I know have used them and like them. I'm not familiar with Curriki.
      Here's my personal opinion about choosing a learning path with your kids (you can absolutely take this or leave it): Homeschooling is choosing to believe that you and your child are capable of exploring the world and ideas on your own without the need for tutors or online classes. Especially when they're younger, providing learning experiences for them and focusing on life skills and relationship is really enough. Online classes and tutoring may be utilized when they're in high school, but you as the parent are completely equipped to guide their learning.
      Something you could ask yourself when choosing curriculum/resources is what do I want my child to get out of this? Why am I homeschooling in the first place? What are my goals?
      I hope that helps. If you'd like to discuss this more, you can schedule a one-on-one consulting session with me. app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=23596331&appointmentType=24904899

      My advice is to ask the administration of your school directly to know exactly what they will require of you.

    Thank you for this! Jst a quick question in regards to registering, what if we move a lot, how does that work?

    • @BethPavlik
      @BethPavlik  Před rokem +1

      Do you mean registering with the school district? Wherever you move, you’ll have to look into the homeschool laws in that area (if you’re meaning moving to different states) to see what is required.

    • @pamelamarie25
      @pamelamarie25 Před rokem

      @@BethPavlik yes to different states and/or possibly different countries, how would homeschooling go about if that were the case?

    • @BethPavlik
      @BethPavlik  Před rokem +1

      @@pamelamarie25 if you’re moving to different countries, it would be the same process as moving to different states. Hslda.org lists all of the laws for different countries and you can also contact them directly to ask questions about specific countries if you need clarification.
