  • Luna Cycles came out with a new gear for the M600 motor.
    Some people wanted their M600 motor to be quieter.
    The M600 is not that loud, but a little more stealthy motor is not a bad thing at all.
    The new gear is made of PEEK plastic and it will replace an all steel gear.
    Video #1 shows how to remove the motor from a Luna X1
    Video #2 shows how to open up the M600 motor and get to the assembly that holds the gear.
    Video #3 shows how to press in the new gear if you are having trouble getting it to seat into the cups.
    I have a post on electricbike.com about the new gear

    Here is the link to the gear on the Luna cycles web site.

    Once you have taking it apart a lot it will take a min or 2 i can take apart my bbshd and put back togeather in 15 to 20 minutes. I learnt how to take it apart on youtube without that it would of been really hard so good job on you

    Thanks for sharing this info. I have a question for you, I have heard when a controller is taken out and replaced one is NOT supposed to move the crank arms until the new replacement controller has been installed. Would you know anything about this or why? I have moved the motor drive after pulling the controller while waiting for my replacement controller so now I am wondering if I have done something that will effect the new install of replacement controller. I have the green PCB on the controller that appairently means a DIY is OK for intalling a new replacement controller with out the need for specail pairing. The blue PCB controller however does need special pairing from factory or dealer to instal a replacement controler

    • @EL34XYZ
      @EL34XYZ  Před 3 lety

      I have never heard of such a thing. It makes no sense. The controller is just a circuit board that supplies power to the motor.

    11:39 is when you ripped the gasket, twisting the screwdriver.

    • @EL34XYZ
      @EL34XYZ  Před rokem

      The gasket was stuck to the metal and probably;y ripped when pried off the surface

    Why did you change the gear in the first place? Replacing a metal gear with a plastic gear seems a little odd...

      It's PEEK, not just any old plastic.

    Hi, love your videos! I am wonderingif you can explain the torque sensing of the bafang vs. something like shimano e8000 or Bosch. I'm considering one of these Lunas, but everything I've read seems to indicate the Bafangs have a very on-off feel when the motor engages. I currently have a BBS02 equiped bike, and that being cadence-sensor only, it is not conducive to trail riding. I love the ideao of the power of the Bafang, but don't want to get something that doesn't feel responsive, because the sudden on-off tendency is very jarring when maneuvering slowly. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

      @@MickeyMikeMd Keep in mind that I always use level 1 of 9 on my X1's. I like getting a workout and not a free ride. I only go to level 3/9 if I am on a really steep climb. If you do try and start on level 3/9, you can feel the bike jolt forward more than you like. Starting on level one is smooth as butter.

    Does anyone know if the max cadence can be increased on the m500 g520.250 motor? Cutoff at 100rpm feels a bit low to me.

    • @EL34XYZ

    • @maxspruit8370
      @maxspruit8370 Před 2 lety

      @@EL34XYZ its not really a limit. Its just that at a certain times i will pedal faster than the motor can support. Thats what i mean. The bosch cx performance will support up to 120 rpm, which is higher than listed rpm for the m500 motor, but i found myself outpedaling the motor on some hard short climbs.
