      These comments of crying Brits are just too funny. *The Brits spent the last 500 years desacrating other countries or their cultural sites, temples, monuments, landscapes, golden carvings, paintings, architecture, pottery, worship sites, sculptures, waters, rivers, historic sites, tombs, forrestes, plantations...* but you`re complaining about a silly little tree cut down by a stupid little 16 year old lad. 😆😅🤣😂

    My late husband had a small part in Robin Hood. (Howard "Lew" Lewis). He left for Scotch Corner without his insulin so I had to drive up with it. I arrived at where they were filming (at the tree) and although the weather was horrendous I walked down to the tree. It was so unusually beautiful and majestic standing there on it's own. I'm horrified this has happened. It was just so beautiful.

    That tree was one in a million, but not one of the 76 million burnt last year at the power station just 100 miles south of here! I think they're worth a mention.

      This iconic sycamore tree was planted in the late 1800s by the previous landowner, John Clayton, to be a feature in the landscape. The land and the tree came into our care in the 1940s."

    The two people involved have yet to explain a reason for this act. If they are not both clinically insane then finding a motive is very difficult indeed for a "normal" person. I really hope it is not a political act as i disrespect ALL politics. I am sure a nation is waiting for a reason for this act.

      Your comment makes no sense. The statue of Edward Colston in Bristol was taken down in a BLM protest. Edward Colston was a repulsive Slave Trader Merchant who became extremely wealthy out of the misery and pain he caused by trafficking people into the Slave Trade.
      Btw the people responsible for vandalising the statue were not part of the protest they were vandals and they were arrested. The owners of the statue never claimed their statue…they basically disowned it.
      With this in mind, this tree was loved by many people, it was a beautiful tree an innocent tree that was alive and happily growing.

    Once again the minority win !
    I agree its disappointing,distracting,disgusting behaviour. For one !
    Let's question Dutch elm disease which is caused by a member of the sac fungi affecting elm trees, and is spread by elm bark beetles. Believed to be originally native to Asia, the disease was accidentally introduced into America, Europe, and New Zealand. This problem kills many trees year on year !
    Everyone speaks up by saying, we need to replant more trees !
    Why not plant one tree for every mile of that famous wall as a mark of respect & let's keep the history alive !

    This is going to be unpopular but the Sycamore Tree is not a UK native species and by some tree people considered a weed. I believe this might be whats behind the vandalism. They should replace it with an English Oak or Yew tree. Both symbolise strength and knowledge. I'm a little perturbed by all the rage posts and virtue signalling. I would have been upset had it been Silver Birch, Rowan, Ash, Hazel, Hawthorn, Beech, Yew Alder, Willow, Common Hornbeam, Common Elm, Wild Cherry etc.

    • @furryfury.
      @furryfury. Před 11 měsíci

      The Woodland Trust considers the Sycamore as a native species from being naturalised! The “English” elm wasn’t even native too but also now naturalised. They’ve lived long enough in the British Isles and are not detrimental to any other species.
