- We’re taking a deep dive into Tom Felton’s experience on Harry Potter as the villainous role of Draco Malfoy. You're going to be surprised to know he was nothing like that. We’ll show you moments you may have never thought the actor experienced and felt on set - from bromances to behind the scenes shenanigans, this actor had a pretty interesting time off camera.
Tom was graced with the role by complete chance and if it weren’t for his quick-witted thinking, we may not have been able to see him in the titular role. It also helped that he kept character through multiple injuries on set and by just being that older brother figure to many of the younger cast. Felton was pretty unknown of the calibour of the films he was doing, but maybe that was a good thing. If some people had it their way, we would’ve seen a dramatic change in his character later on, but that will never be. His performance lent a hand to the star-studded cast performance and helped us through Draco’s dramatic change in the later films.
The Harry Potter series touched our hearts and helped shape many of our childhoods. Tom Felton was a part of that, making us believe he was the most evil and vile character in the series. Deep down, he is the complete opposite of his on-screen character. He became the Dark Lord’s chosen one and was given the chance to prove his acting chops.

Malfoy is arguably the most prominent character within the franchise's younger cast, and Felton played him throughout all eight movies. Since then, he's taken on parts on The Flash and in movies like A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting.
I think because of his role in Harry Potter it made the movies so much better honestly. Bravo 👏

It's kinda sad for me that Draco didn't really get moments to shine more, especially in the older movies, because he had much potential.
It's because J.K doesn't know how to writer redemption arcs. She was good at giving reasons to empathize with the most hated recurrent characters near the end, that's why we love Draco or appreciate Snape, but the woman couldn't write a redemption arc for her life. SO MUCH WAISTED POTENTIAL. if Snape would've die protecting directly Harry that would've hit harder and we would understand better how deeply he loved and sacrificed himself for the memory of Lily and protect Harry, not just as a pawn in Dumbledore's plan, and if she would've give Draco the opportunity to stand up for himself despite all, and explore the moral dilemma he was facing more straight forward, to create a conflict in Harry's perception of war it eould make both journeysto juxtaposedboth of the charactersPERFEVTLY, both raisedwith ideas that lead to war but ultimatelyis once decision. But no, It was just "good vs. Evil" with some hints of innocent people in the middle facing a hard reality. We, as fans had to fill the rest of that possibility and explore Dracos emotional journey out of small clues and theorizing the sheet out of them. So sad.
@@parkjiminismylight6441 Yeah and so sad they deleted the scene out of the movie where Draco runs over to the "good side" and helps Harry against Voldemort. That would have been epic and a great redemption!
But I think there is a character that is even more wasted and that is Sirius Black.

Yes, I think his redemption scene was cheated out at the end. I would love to have seen that in the movie.

The truth is Tom Felton was the only one from cast of children who could play. He had experience before Harry Potter that's why he was much better actor as Radcliffe or Watson. And of course natural talent. That's why that is unfair that those in "Golden trio" are gods and he didn't get the recognition which he deserved more than them.

If you read his book 'Beyond the wand' he wasn't a nice kid and even admits himself he was a 'snotty' kid. He wasn't popular with the kids parents either. He grew out of it though, like most kids.
