Best locker install tutorial I’ve seen. Clear and to the point,👍👍
Thnaks!
Great video! thank you so much for taking the time, and respecting mine with your editing and concision.
Thanks for posting! I just installed a Lockright in my Suzuki sidekick last night! I used your vice grip technique and that works awesome, I checked my backlash before and after and it’s all in spec without changing anything, that was an awesome suggestion! Thanks guys 👍
Ps I love this channel, you guys have a lot of fun!
Great job, no nonsense video! Thanks.
Great demonstration and install video
great video! straight to point and better then any written directions, Props!
Great video. Installed mine the other day using this video. Instructions are a little hard to follow but this video was easy to do it with.
Thanks!

Good video
cool stuff. excellent
Thanks!
@@itsDeza your welcome
wow, great concise video!
@itsDeza thanks for the video! What is involved in removing the third member from the axle? Is removing the tires, brake lines and emergency brake cable required?? Thanks!
Why didn't you vise grip the other side of the carrier?
Awesome video. Very clear and concise. Thank you. Is it nearly the same for a landcruiser 9.5"?
Yes they are very similar! and thanks!
Do you like these lockers better than the Spartan? They all look pretty much the same. But Spartan claims you can install theirs without taking the diff out? I don't see how you could get that roll pen out without removing the ring gear. Nice tip with the vice grips BTY. I'm doing a total rebuild on a 91 toyota 4x4 extended cab. And I just totally rebuilt the 3.0 motor and worked out all the little gremlins with the sensors and fuel system cause the truck had a blown motor and had been sitting for 10 years. Since this is my backup truck for now I'm definitely going to install a locker in the rear. I'm used to a limited slip in my other truck and can't stand it when I get stuck on wet grass because only one tire spends and I have to get out and lock the front end. But I have to learn how to paint and put a paint job on it next before I start putting luxury items on it first. Poor truck has a perfect body and frame but some dummy put a ugly camo paint job on it because of the failing clear coat, so I got to take care of that first. Thanks for the video. Any kind of useful mod videos done on these trucks is very much appreciated.
Hi! Thanks for sharing. Could you please share torque specs? Thanks!
I want to buy it but I don't know if my Toyota differential is 27 or 30 stretch marks they ¿are compatible?
I wish you had started the video earlier, showing how to pull the axles and 3rd member.,
I been thinking of doing this to the jeep ....but if I spend more money on it I'll have to get a divorce at this point lol
William Thompson
Hahaha well you can live in the Jeep ! It’s not that bad we do it !
I installed a lokka in my land cruiser, I ended up having to reset backlash because I didn't think of the vice grip idea.....I got backlash set but didn't check the gear pattern. You think I'm ok?
Be hard to tell without looking at it how did you set the backlash?
Obviously without laying hands on it I couldn’t tell you if you nailed it or not but you’re supposed to only have about 10,000s of an inch of air gap between the ring and the pinion by turning the ring gear against the pinyin back-and-forth like make it rattle click click click back-and-forth if you didn’t change the pinion depth then you probably didn’t change your gear mesh pattern . A tighter backlash is better than a loose backlash but there is a standard you wouldn’t happen to have a video of your backlash maybe I could tell you some more from seeing it?
Thanks for the reply. I used the service manual to get it in spec (0.005" to 0.007") if I remember right. Also followed the procedure to set the bearing preload before setting backlash. I just wasn't sure if after that I needed to check gear pattern
Can You use the original pin? Instead of the one included in the box?
Yes you can, but usually the one from the locker with be stronger and it won’t have any wear
Would this be similar in a 7.5" yota front diff? great video btw
Yes it’s actually basically identical the 7.5 ring and pinion is the same as the 4x2 trucks The carrier is the same just smaller it literally goes in the same way The only difference is the way the axles go in you’ll have to pop out the spindles that go into the differential extension housing if you have ADD axle It’s a bit of a pain To get the right side axle stub out But like 99.9% of them had locking hubs so they pop out the same you can either Bopp them with a hammer or put to pry bars behind it at like 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock and give it a good pull Other than that it’s pretty much the same actually I think it’s easier you don’t have to pull off the ring gear to put the locker in because the ring gear is smaller it fits the locker in better but in my experience the IFS front end is a bit crude with a lunchbox locker the solid axle stuff handles it better you almost never notice it’s even in there but I’m running the locker in the front of my IFS Toyota truck that went on these last trips and it was fine just a little choppy
I appreciate the response! I think I’m up for the challenge, your video and stuff has been super helpful!
To be clear: I don’t have to mess with backlash up front neither?
Are they road friendly? I’m thinking about using on my daily driver. Also, are they noisy?
They are a little noisy (ratcheting), also sometimes they will "pop" in and out of lock, making a strong sound and vibration, almost like you broke something. If you get on the gas from a stop into a corner, they WILL lock and you tire will sherp sherp sherp around the corner! If you like to press on the gas after every stop, you will hate these on the street.
Excuse my lack of knowledge
The lock Right works for both tires or how does it work
Yep when you give it throttle both wheels lock up together. Off throttle they unlock, so you can cost around turns with out a problem.
@@itsDeza it’s appreciated the time you took to explain me how the lock right works
👍great videos you
Make, keep it up
No thanks, where's your shop?
I went through 2 LockRite lunch box lockers in my 8" Toyota front diff, before I wised up and payed up for an Aussie Locker.
Really? What failed on them? I’m running them in my yj and Henry has been using them for years and is currently using one for his build. 😕
I wore out the outer couplers and springs on a no slip locker. Then I wised up and switched to an elocker
first one to comment what do i get ?
You should get a life.
