I don't know it's in any of the Smash tips or whatever in the game, but Shulk's forward smash is a clear reference to his Art "Slit Edge," and should be doing similarly insane damage. It's the exact same animation.
17:30 You know, when I saw Kirby, I thought he would have his damage up to how much damage he dealt to those like Computer Virus from Super Star or Metal General in Return to Dreamland sense that shows how much damage each does, not just inhale, feels like a missed opportunity
This is such a great concept to showcase and I love the channel for doing things like this! Hats off to the editor and modder for making it all come together!
Actually, thunder jolt was not made up by Sakurai, but rather is a move in pokmon TCG, so you PROBABLY could've figured out its power and ran it through the damage calculator
11:38 I will argue that Shulk’s side smash is based on his Art Slit Edge, based purely on the animation. It’s not very powerful compared to Back or Air Slash but it reduces enemy defense.
11:58 technically that should of only done 1 damage since in Xenoblade, Monado shield makes it so any signature move only does 1 damage to Shulk. Since Finishing touch is Cloud's signature move, that should of only done 1 damage to Shulk lmao
Finishing Touch only does 3.125 damage to enemies that are immune to the instant death status that it inflicts. Cross Slash also inflicts paralysis, so it would've been cool to see that in the mod too.
@@christopherdangelo1292 I'm sure there's 3 mini-Bosses who actually show damage. The Virus in Super star, a guard in Return to Dreamland and another guard in Planet Robobot, all using roughly the same damage formula.
For the Pokemon, it would have been amazing if you were able to account for Final Smashes. I'd like to see the ridiculous damage done by Volt Tackle, Malicious Moonsault, and the combination of Hydro Pump, Solar Beam, and Fire Blast (Triple Finish).
I don't think it's named as such, but Shulk's side smash is also a move reference. It's slit edge, which funnily enough is one of his weakest arts, but it deals increased damage from the side and reduces enemy defense (which because enemies in xc1 don't have a defense stat actually just increases the damage your party does).
Fun fact mewtwo is at level 100 since his final smash uses psystrike which he use to learn at level 100 in x and y (the last pokemon game before smash 4)
I feel like applying that sort of logic gets a little wonky when you consider combinations like Pikachu having Skull Bash or Submission (legal moves on it in gen 1 only, which gets extra weird considering Pichu also has those moves in Smash despite debuting in gen 2) and also Volt Tackle (introduced in gen 3); Mewtwo hasn't ever had Tail Whip or Shadow Blast as a legal move; nor has Greninja ever had Rolling Kick, Triple Kick, or Slam I approve of Nick's setting a consistent level for all of the Pokemon (especially since L50 is the standard in official competitive play)
@@splgk6204That wouldn't matter though. Slit Edge would still get its own ratios, and besides, Buster is kinda scuffed in this scenario anyways, because it works completely different in Xenoblade. It's not a buff, it's a big swing with the *bonus* effect of dealing extra damage against Mechon. That's why I'm still adamant it should've been Enchant instead, it's literally the first Monado Art you use and its entire purpose is being a damage buff. (Shield is also completely misrepresented, it should be Monado Armour)
@@GumshoeClassic yeah I get what you mean. I believe that for the shield/armour situation, it might have to do with pronunciation (shield is nicer to the ear) and also, accessibility (it might be more intuitive for children) For buster, maybe they had another initial project and decided to only make it a buff in the end, though this is no excuse cause they had 8 years to check with the source material but oh well At least Shulk is in smash (In swimsuit :D )
@@splgk6204 I don't really think armor would be harder to get than shield to be honest, it's such a ubiquitous concept and word all throughout media. If anything, Shield is misleading since it doesn't act like a shield at all and has nothing to do with the in-game mechanic of the same name.
@@splgk6204 Monado Art Shield completely blocks an Art of the same level or less in Xenoblade, and theres not really a good way to quantify that in Smash. Armor would've been better, since it actually reduces damage in Xenoblade, all the way up to 95% damage reduction (i think, it might be 85%).
You do NOT use the pokémon's base stat in damage calculation You use the pokémon's actual, in-game stat At level 50, Pikachu's Base 50 Sp.Atk can be anywhere inbetween 49 and 112 At Level 50, Mewtwo's Base 154 Sp.Atk can be anywhere inbetween 143 and 226 (although, in a competitive setting, it's not going to be lower than 174, with a very high chance of it being 206)
Yeah I noticed that too, though that would also ideally apply to the defense stat calculations and I assume they didn't want to go through the trouble of putting EVs and IVs into consideration while also getting the average defense stats for each mon at level 50
@xinf3ctdx Pretty simple to just pick 70 This would be a Pikachu with Perfect IV's, 0 EV's and a Neutral/Non-affecting Nature Or 81 (Perfect IV's, EV's perfectly split between every stat, Neutral Nature) Or 102 (Perfect IV's and EV's. Neutral Nature) Or 80(.5) (Halfway between 49 and 112) Or 49 (the worst possible Pikachu) Or 112 (the best possible Pikachu) Personally, I'd have gone with either 70, or 81
@@nerddwarf And even more simple to not do what you said and pick a single number that’s already right in front of you instead. Personally, no one cares what you would’ve gone with because you couldn’t pick a more asinine hill to die on if you tried.
you shouldve also gotten their canonical health and presumed 999% to equal 100% of their health, so that the character's defensive abilities carry over as well (interestingly, ryu and ken would have stayed the same here lol)
The problem with that is that you can't change the damage of a move to do different amounts based on what character it hits, making that pretty much impossible. That said, I WOULD be interested in seeing what it'd be like if they used that method to balance each character's moves based on their own games. It'd actually make the pokemon STRONGER hilariously. And the RPGs would often still do nuts damage
I'm surprised Kirby wasn't modified any further than he was. Unless, of course, his abilities are hard-coded, like most of Link's. Kirby's arsenal is almost entirely references to the game, with Hammer Flip, Final Cutter, Stone, his jab being a Fighter move and his grabs refrencing Suplex and Ninja. The stats can be found relatively easily online, such as Kirby's Hammer Flip doing 80 damage pretty consistently over the games. I wonder if there was a reason why the changes weren't made.
Editing has been getting progressively better in the past few months a lot faster than I expected. Kudos to the editor, they are about to get you a much larger audience. Man/woman deserves a pay raise!!
Shulk's Monado Buster hits hard though, even if it's not mechon. Maybe it got confused with Enchant. I think it should make your next attack stronger then disapper or something like that, or it just should have been left untouched.
Little fun fact there is a way to figure out some of the damages for links attacks. By using the champion’s tunic it will enable you to see the health of your enemies which can help you calculate.
That's Enchant. Buster is a single line AOE attack that deals extra damage to Mechon (XC1), annuls guard/block (XC2), or does more damage when Shulk is Awakened (XC3).
The fact that these numbers are still a drop in the bucket compared to what Shulk can do in practice in XC1, let alone his guest appearance in XC2, got quite the chuckle out of me.
fun fact, since mewtwo's final smash is psystrike, and mewtwo doesnt learn that move until level 100, we can assume that the smash bros mewtwo is level 100
Since all of Roy's overhead swing moves are based on his standard attack when he uses the Sealed Sword in FE6, they should all do 18-32 damage, and the fire attacks based on his crit animation should do triple that.

You literally turned the shotos into their level 8, 5 star handicaped versions of themselvs from street fighter 6. And I thought they are going to stay the same, I love it.
Samus' Screw Attack and Speed Booster (upB and dash attack) let you literally blow up most enemies in one shot in her games, it would have been cool to see that
I think the idea of tail whip is that the pokemon doesn’t actually whip the other pokemon with its tail, but that it cutely wags its tail which causes the other Pokemon to drop its defenses. Like they start to underestimate you. Which means it shouldn’t do damage like shown here, but it would be neat if using it made your opponent more vulnerable to attack.
Something to consider is the Monado can’t hurt people, Al least not the shackled form Shulk is using. In game, that would do a whopping 1 damage to any human players. Anyone else is screwed, though
I feel like there could easily be a part 2 to this video with all the fire emblem characters plus Mario, Luigi and Bowser, if the Mario and Luigi RPGs are anything to go by.
11:52 Well it does double the damage agaisnt mechon but in the game itself buster is a suoer strong art in general agaisnt regular enemies anyways. @@dolphin-studio Oh shut it
17:10 inklings have 100 health in splatoon, which is close to what you'd expect in smash. however, most weapons are made to kill in one interaction so I expect most attacks to kill at 0.
edit: yep
I don't know it's in any of the Smash tips or whatever in the game, but Shulk's forward smash is a clear reference to his Art "Slit Edge," and should be doing similarly insane damage. It's the exact same animation.
17:30 You know, when I saw Kirby, I thought he would have his damage up to how much damage he dealt to those like Computer Virus from Super Star or Metal General in Return to Dreamland sense that shows how much damage each does, not just inhale, feels like a missed opportunity
Yea since his Smash moveset IS in Robobot/RTD

This is such a great concept to showcase and I love the channel for doing things like this! Hats off to the editor and modder for making it all come together!
He asked you to say that, didn’t he
You must expand the dong man everyone!
Actually, thunder jolt was not made up by Sakurai, but rather is a move in pokmon TCG, so you PROBABLY could've figured out its power and ran it through the damage calculator
nice "um, Actually" there.
Wait...DOES THIS MEAN LINK'S FINAL SMASH IS AN INSTA KILL?
should be yes as ancient arrows 1 shot all enemies who aren't bosses, including link.
The editing as you showcase the certain moves like quick attack was so good!
Nick's face when Poppt isn't realizing which Kirby's move is changed is awesome
I’m actually really impressed with how good the editing is in this video. Give your editor a raise Nick.
Facts
Honestly I didn't like it that much. It just looks like all the other videos on CZcams
Shulk's Side Smash is clearly intended to be his Slit Edge
bruh that's what I'm saying
Can’t wait to see Steve only do 10% on his strongest attacks
Been an absolute joy seeing this project come to life, thank you for the opportunity to work on it! ❤
you are a god, this editing is crazy good
Such a good video!!!
Tbh Kirby could have had this apply to all of his moves, since his series DOES have a spin off game where numbers can be sufficiently calculated
Which one?
Kirby battle Royale, or super Kirby clash, depends on accuracy
@@christopherdangelo1292 I'm sure there's 3 mini-Bosses who actually show damage. The Virus in Super star, a guard in Return to Dreamland and another guard in Planet Robobot, all using roughly the same damage formula.
For the Pokemon, it would have been amazing if you were able to account for Final Smashes. I'd like to see the ridiculous damage done by Volt Tackle, Malicious Moonsault, and the combination of Hydro Pump, Solar Beam, and Fire Blast (Triple Finish).
Kinda surprised Pyra/Mythra, Joker, Hero, Terry, and quite a few others didn’t get anything, but you gotta leave something for a part 2 I guess
I feel like applying that sort of logic gets a little wonky when you consider combinations like Pikachu having Skull Bash or Submission (legal moves on it in gen 1 only, which gets extra weird considering Pichu also has those moves in Smash despite debuting in gen 2) and also Volt Tackle (introduced in gen 3); Mewtwo hasn't ever had Tail Whip or Shadow Blast as a legal move; nor has Greninja ever had Rolling Kick, Triple Kick, or Slam
I approve of Nick's setting a consistent level for all of the Pokemon (especially since L50 is the standard in official competitive play)
The editing on this video is actually amazing. Props to the editor for making visually appealing content and Nick for making humor!
Hold on. Kirby uses his special moves in one of the games when he takes the power from master hand. He literally gets his full special moveset
As a Xenoblade Nerd, Shulk FSmash absolutely is Slit Edge
I yhink he explained that it was the buster that made it no more powerful, since no characters are mekons, the buster monado art applies no changes
I believe that for the shield/armour situation, it might have to do with pronunciation (shield is nicer to the ear) and also, accessibility (it might be more intuitive for children)
For buster, maybe they had another initial project and decided to only make it a buff in the end, though this is no excuse cause they had 8 years to check with the source material but oh well
At least Shulk is in smash
(In swimsuit :D )
You actually missed one of Shulk’s canon moves. His forward smash is based on slit edge, an art that lowers defense if you hit the enemy on its side
And N-air’s animation is the same as Monado Purge
you could also argue that down smash could be a variation of Stream Edge
Interesting... Never crossed my mind!
@@hyperstar7252 I've always thought his dash attack looked more like Stream Edge. His ftilt also looks a lot like his auto-attack.
Shoulda made status moves do the appropriate status, like agility doubling pichus speed and tail whip making the opponent more vulnerable
Really cool video, phenomenal editing. I've always wanted to see JRPG silly numbers put into Smash
Shulk´s f-smash is based on the art „slit edge“ from Xenoblade, so it should have a damage change as well.
You do NOT use the pokémon's base stat in damage calculation
You use the pokémon's actual, in-game stat
At level 50, Pikachu's Base 50 Sp.Atk can be anywhere inbetween 49 and 112
At Level 50, Mewtwo's Base 154 Sp.Atk can be anywhere inbetween 143 and 226 (although, in a competitive setting, it's not going to be lower than 174, with a very high chance of it being 206)
Yeah I noticed that too, though that would also ideally apply to the defense stat calculations and I assume they didn't want to go through the trouble of putting EVs and IVs into consideration while also getting the average defense stats for each mon at level 50
Probably easier to use the base stat than picking a number between 49 and 112 and having someone like you get upset no matter which one they pick.
@xinf3ctdx
Pretty simple to just pick 70
This would be a Pikachu with Perfect IV's, 0 EV's and a Neutral/Non-affecting Nature
Or 81 (Perfect IV's, EV's perfectly split between every stat, Neutral Nature)
Or 102 (Perfect IV's and EV's. Neutral Nature)
Or 80(.5) (Halfway between 49 and 112)
Or 49 (the worst possible Pikachu)
Or 112 (the best possible Pikachu)
Personally, I'd have gone with either 70, or 81
@@nerddwarf And even more simple to not do what you said and pick a single number that’s already right in front of you instead.
Personally, no one cares what you would’ve gone with because you couldn’t pick a more asinine hill to die on if you tried.
@@Croach193
It's been 2 months
you shouldve also gotten their canonical health and presumed 999% to equal 100% of their health, so that the character's defensive abilities carry over as well
(interestingly, ryu and ken would have stayed the same here lol)
I was watching until 13:24 and as Ryu did Hadouken, i got a street fighter duel ad and Ryu finished the Hadouken in the ad lol. Not a bad transition
Editing has been getting progressively better in the past few months a lot faster than I expected. Kudos to the editor, they are about to get you a much larger audience. Man/woman deserves a pay raise!!
17:23 this match made me realise Nick doesnt know about the existence of Kirby Fighters Deluxe/2
4:12 well someone had to do it.
The editing in this video is crazy good! So clean and always moving!
Shulk's Monado Buster hits hard though, even if it's not mechon. Maybe it got confused with Enchant. I think it should make your next attack stronger then disapper or something like that, or it just should have been left untouched.
I have absolutely no idea about anything Xenoblade, but to my understanding of it, I'm wondering if it would do more damage against R.O.B?
Oh yeah, especially with a XII Buster doing base damage of 10,000+ damage (double on Mechon).
@@yambo10 highly recommend the series, honestly the best games i've ever played

Little fun fact there is a way to figure out some of the damages for links attacks. By using the champion’s tunic it will enable you to see the health of your enemies which can help you calculate.
I'd like to see Mythra with this, just because she's in no way just the fast weak one in XC2. She's still fast, but...
As a Xenoblade 2 enjoyer. Y E S. Mythra is stupidly powerful as much as you would assume otherwise with Smash.
Nice to see canonical Shulk in smash bros
Shulk's buster art actually does slightly increase all damage done, it just also empowers weapons to destroy mechon if they couldn't otherwise do so.
That's Enchant. Buster is a single line AOE attack that deals extra damage to Mechon (XC1), annuls guard/block (XC2), or does more damage when Shulk is Awakened (XC3).
@@rtg_onefourtwoeightfiveseven Fuck me, you're right. I don't know how I made a mistake like that.

The fact that these numbers are still a drop in the bucket compared to what Shulk can do in practice in XC1, let alone his guest appearance in XC2, got quite the chuckle out of me.

Since all of Roy's overhead swing moves are based on his standard attack when he uses the Sealed Sword in FE6, they should all do 18-32 damage, and the fire attacks based on his crit animation should do triple that.
Wait, you mean Roy dealing ACTUAL significant damage is a thing?, Roy suck ass on his game lol the only thing that makes him any good is the Biding Blade and still sucks

11:50 That's technically not true. Monado Buster does get 2x dmg against Mechon but it also has an art Power of 2.5 to 7 (or 8 in DE) so the dmg multiplier for Monado Buster should apply. If you wanted this to be more accurate you'd need to update Monado Buster's name to Monado Enchant too.

I haven’t watched one of your vids in a while, but coming back the first thing I notice is your immaculate editing! Glad you kept improving your channel despite the hype for smash falling off.
You literally turned the shotos into their level 8, 5 star handicaped versions of themselvs from street fighter 6.
And I thought they are going to stay the same, I love it.
Samus' Screw Attack and Speed Booster (upB and dash attack) let you literally blow up most enemies in one shot in her games, it would have been cool to see that
The editor killed it! Kudos!
Oh and the two guys are cool too I guess
amazing editing for showcasing the moves
I think the idea of tail whip is that the pokemon doesn’t actually whip the other pokemon with its tail, but that it cutely wags its tail which causes the other Pokemon to drop its defenses. Like they start to underestimate you. Which means it shouldn’t do damage like shown here, but it would be neat if using it made your opponent more vulnerable to attack.
Something to consider is the Monado can’t hurt people, Al least not the shackled form Shulk is using. In game, that would do a whopping 1 damage to any human players. Anyone else is screwed, though
it cant hurt human beings born of zanza. so it couldnt hurt homs, nopon, or high entia. anyone in smash is fair game except shulk himself
the monado can hurt people not born of the bionis, which includes everyone in the smash roster
the editing on this video is nice af, props to the editor.
The production quality on the video is insane! also that ending joke was amazing
I feel like there could easily be a part 2 to this video with all the fire emblem characters plus Mario, Luigi and Bowser, if the Mario and Luigi RPGs are anything to go by.
Shoutout to the editor not only for the epic edits this vid but for the based Gladion theme usage
I imagine Mario's attacks would do massive damage going by how they work in the mainline games.
