Having learned of your father's passing, I was devastated. These videos will keep his memory alive for your children for the years to come. The sound of his voice will never be forgotten. I miss the sound of my father's voice most of all. Hes been gone 42 years. Keep being the man you are. You'll always be part of his legacy. Watching you drink coffee next to your newly installed stove with your dad is a memory you'll never forget and fortunately you'll always have a video of it forever. My dad used to take my mom and my twin brother to a remote fishing camp in the mountains near Little Fort in BC, Meadow Lake Fishing Camp. We stayed in log cabins with wood stoves to heat the cabin and our hot drinks. My mom and dad and twin brother are all gone now but I have so many wonderful and somewhat sad memories of the four of us at the cabin, fishing on the lakes and enjoying the beautiful outdoors in Canada. I'm going back there by myself after too many years and walk those trails again to the remote lakes and enjoy the beauty of BC. All that has happened from the moment you began with this journey, you AND your dad have been gone trough smooth and rough, little and big spots and watching Winter approach again... it made me nervous because I absolutely didn't wanted any delay for you all anymore.. Although I know that you are not there, a kitchen and a attic and the complete interior has to be done yet too, just as cleaning the outside.
But that was not my point right now.. my point is that I SO much wanted you and your dad to finally come to this point..
It gave me litteraly goosebumps and tears in my eyes and a huge smile 🤗
Congrats to reaching this milestone.. it is one that will be remembered for a long, long time!
And I am happy that I can say that I have been there, although a World apart, but I am still there from the beginning.. an official O. G. who says to you, your dad, your wife and daughter.. congratulations and I truly believe that Santa will have some presents in the 'Outsider and Dad Cabin' for the family this year 🤗
(Not one house is completely finished in our lifetimes, there is always something to be done but this is a special spot in the process of this project that you and your dad did together.. something that is (sadly, because so many son's wished in these times that they had a dad to do that with but haven't got that due to all kinds of reasons that belong in these modern times) Very special)
And I honestly am proud to have seen it all come together and even more proud at the both of you.. Look at what you both have made!! 👊😎👌
    Edit, typo mistake

I doubt you’ll ever read this, but on the outside chance, I’ll post it. I’ve been watching the last few episodes of your cabin build and subsequently subscribed. That led me to scroll pervious videos and land on the story of yours and your wife’s struggle shortly before and after your marriage. I’m touched and moved by the God inspired beauty of your character, the humility that frames everything your do, and your faithfulness. I’ll add my voice to those who are praying for you as well as looking for ways to support your work which I believe is a ministry.

I love to see the first fire in a cabin. I was told that many years ago in Scotland that if you wanted to build a croft house there had to be a fire in the house on the first day of building. in other words, if everyone in the village didn't help with the building it would never happen. This meant that the people in the village did not want you. Cruel but effective. You adopted the same principle with your barn raising where all of the locals would help to make it happen. of course, the house was at that stage very crude but it was weatherproof and a fire in the hearth

Wow, that is so touching!! I've been watching this series from close to the beginning, I'm not one of the first but I remember subscribing around 30-40k subscribers, back when you were known as "Outsidefun1". You've come a long way on youtube, but also on your log cabin. Even though I'm just watching you build it with your father, I feel like I've literally grown up with the cabin (I literally started watching in middle school, watched through high school on and off, and now I'm in college it's crazy). I remember when you were moving the boulders and literally only had the base of the cabin completed. Your constant clever engineering has been so inspirational. The ambiance of the log cabin in the woods, especially in winter with a light snow fall with the crackling sound of the fireplace and warm coffee inside the cabin is something I envision my dream home being: away from the distractions of the 21st century. Keep up the good work my friend!

Cabin is officially a cabin now with the wood stove!
One suggestion since you won't be doing an official hearth until warm weather. Fill your hearth base with sand for now. I don't want an errant ember causing havoc. We would be sad and you all would be devastated if so.
Be safe up there! Hope you and your family enjoy many years of fire watching in that stove!

On our woodstove at our cabin we have a damper pipe about a foot above the stove. It helps control how much heat goes up the pipe and it is really helpful you might consider actually adding that in the future

@@samvalentine3206 A damper is a Must Have.....unless the home owner doesn't mind burning double the amount of wood. I made the mistake of not using a damper years ago.....All your hot air goes right out the house, full speed with no burn control or temperature control of the living area.
