Was waiting for this, thank you. So many holes in this team, so many banking that Watson will fix everything.
He gonna be the Wilson of the browns
Even if Watson shows up somehow. What will be the long term solution for the team when they wasted so much on one guy that hasn’t played in 2 years and has some off the field issues? They won’t be able to retain some talented players not so far in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised is Watson fails and compete of last and another potential 0 win season if things completely falls apart for them which is highly.

@@blairlight8029 but then that’s exactly when Kareem should be out there. Better yet we have the depth to always have 2 rbs on the field if we want to. And never do.
The decision to burn it all down after one down and injury riddled year is truly impressively stupid.
The fo and staff worked really hard to make Baker the scapegoat. Bought into the bs. Moved off of him, and because they believed their nonsense they did jack all to fix the actual problems with the team.
Yup! Play Baker when he's hurt and use the result against him sounds wicked genius!
Facts! Not a Baker fan here but I found it ridiculous for him to point out had bad Baker was in 2021 but then went on to list out all the things wrong in 2022 like that wasn't the problem all along. It remains....they were better off benching Baker in 2021 and keeping him to start fresh in 2022. Should have left Deshaun and his contract TF alone. Watsons gonna put up top 10 numbers and still lose. And they won't have the money or capital to do anything about it.
Panthers fan here, I empathize with your pain. They did the same with Cam and got rid of him for Teddy Bridgewater instead of fixing the o-line, which they did after they cut him.
Baker was really bad tho
Saying the browns are in trouble is like saying there is water in the ocean.
Three 1st round picks for a guy that doesn’t play. And when he returns, he’ll never be able to outperform the stink of he personal choices. Great formula for success.

Yea, I know what it is. I was implying that the Texans can't rebuild because you have to, first, have success, then get bad, then rebuild. Honestly we wasted our best talent and window to win with Baker.
I was rooting for the browns in 2020 and 2021 bit what they did to Mayfield and them getting Watson. I hope they never get to the playoffs and Watson just sucks
I feel like karma exists because of this team.
Couple years ago I had Cleveland as a contender by this season. So much talent wasted, but it seems the head office is more F'd up than the players. The Watson move was really stupid imho.
Wouldn't be a bit surprised if Watson never regains form. Stefanski is still a question mark as well. I think he's more oc material than head coach. Woods is more bad than good. Berry has alot of misses on picks as well. Leaving Haslam whose meddling has produced alot of bad choices. All that being said the likelihood that the browns will continue to suck are extremely high.

Don't worry, Watson is used to getting a lot of yards and inflated stats playing from behind with the Texans and having a losing record so he will fit right in.
Watson has played in more playoff games than the Browns franchise since 2010. What are you talking about coming from behind? He always had the Texans in playoff contention until his last full year there. Guys like you don't know schitt. #Ponylevelfootballdropout

100% correct!!! Since 1999 they have been the FarmTeam of the NFL getting draft picks ready to move to other teams when their first contract up. Plus bringing in FA that’s on their last leg to get last contract to retire. It’s a Shame this many years other than 2020 with no fans in the crowd that year. We still enduring this.
I think Cleveland's problem the last few years is the offensive identity they want to have vs. what they are actually built for. Cleveland should be a majority run team. You got 2 great RB's, but insist on winning the games with your qbs arm. They Make trades and overspend on diva wr's that are always underutilized and underwhelming. And now Watson....... none of this is going to work and they will blow it up in 2 years.
I doubt it. The browns passing game is actually better than ever. Kareem hunt is old and suck now so it’s really just Chubb. The main issue is really the defense. To be a run first team you need a great defense and the browns defense is garbage right now because the browns D tackles are trash.

This is a great example of being between a rock and a hard place. If they stay down this path, they're going to be hurting for years unless they have one of the best drafts without a 1st rounder
Or, and this is the nightmare scenario, have a fire sale to see if you can get a few 1sts back but they're going right back to square one as all the talent is gone...
If Watson comes back and goes full Ultra Instinct and wills the team into a contender then they're fine but only time will tell, as it stands, this is a scary situation for them
The only thing I'm scared about is watson being willson bad. If watson can return to previous playing status, everything should be fine.

The best aspect of this sotuation is that everyone seems to take it more or less for granted that once Watson is allowed to play he'll do great. Like everyone supposed so for Russell Wilson...
Yeah, this is the likelier scenario - but it's nowhere near granted or a sure thing. And there would be nothing more Browns than spending 3 first-round picks on a QB and giving him a galactic all-guaranteed contract knowing full well it's gonna destroy the respect towards the otganization - all this just to get a QB who then proceeds to suck once he's on the field...
Brissett has been good. Other than throwing more TD passes, it's hard to see how Watson will be a substantial improvement. And Watson can't stop the run, or get the D in the right alignment.
@@nhennessy6434 the d is the real problem, but watson will improve the off a lot. by def haveing to pay more attention to the pass game, and watson is a better runner than brissett could ever.

but having watson gives the def players hope. cuz they know even if they blow a play watson can come right back and they just have to make ONE OR TWO stops, as with brissett they know if they dont play a perfect game then its over(see the mia game where chubb fumbled and at that moment mia had a short field and the def all but gave up with no hope to come back, and the played like it)

Man, I am a Browns fan and you are one of the first writers to give a realistic view of the Browns. They had several opportunities to make the defense significantly better. The Ravens pulled off a deal for Roquan Smith the Browns had talked to the Bears about a deal in the summer, whatever reason the deal didn't get done. They could have signed Suh to help the D line this year and he would have made an impact on the young players. I think Jim Harbaugh could take this team and win with a few additions. But they headed for a fall if they keep Stefanski and Berry. Great piece you produced thank you.

As a Browns fan, once they made the trade for Watson, I knew this was going to happen. You give up so much for a bunch of question marks that it'll come to bite you in the butt. giving up 3 first round picks for a guy who hasn't played in 2 years and has a whole bunch of off the field issues was something I wasn't on board with. Unfortunately, I gotta get on board with it since I'm a fan but I honestly don't have much high expectations for this team. Even with how great Watson was in 2020, he still only won 4 games. I see this happening with the Browns for the next 3 years.
I hear ya. The big contract limits what they can do in free agency and trading the firsts limits what they can do in the draft. He'll be 30 by the time they get another 1st.

They are not a good team. I don’t understand why everyone is surprised by their performances. You can’t lose OBJ, LANDRY and Baker and expect things to get better. Their only highlight/ signature wins are the Bengals for the last 4 years, a team you’re supposed to be better than anyway. Bengals have a whole new roster from the Dalton/ Green Day’s and they’re still more productive than you.
Hey FA, you didn't want to make the O to D connection here? If the O can't sustain drives, the D just gets hammered repeatedly. Is that not a prominent issue in the old Cleveland Factory?
GMs who are willing to give up multiple first round picks for any player should be fired IMO. Throwing away a team's future for a 'hope' they'll have a super bowl run is extremely risky and likely to fail; it screams of desperation and neglect of concern for the long term. It doesn't matter who the player is, either. They could be injured right out of football on the next play.
How is getting the 2nd best QB in the leauge throwing the future away???
Considering how many first round picks end up being busts, spending 3 on a potentially top tier experienced qb is no different then spending it on a bust qb or wr or olineman. They both have risks of failing or becoming great

Only thing I rly disagree with in this video is the thought of trading Garrett. Every other take in this video is pretty spot-on, though. At least we have the Guards and the Cavs.
Thank you for echoing my thoughts. I listen to a certain sport talk radio station (FM) and they have been saying all season of Jacoby can hang on till Watson gets back it looks good. How TF can you say that after his preseason showing. He sucked. And now after he sat at home watching for 11 games, how do they think he is just going to step in and win? He never played with this team. He knows nothing about these guys. Couple that with the 💩 play calling this is going to be ugly. Until stefanski is standing on the sideline watching and someone else is calling the plays, this team isn't winning anything. I am 66 and never miss a Browns game but at this point I see a record of 3-14.
They are now 3-6. It's my opinion that the Browns owner has already written this season off. They are $22 million below the salary cap avg for this year. The pain could be greater. I'm guessing the owner would rather the players stayed healthy or became healthy for next year. Make this one giant practice. Trade some and hire some in the off-season, and be ready for their one shot at the Super Bowl. Like LeBron and the Cavs did.
You could've mentioned that HC Stefanski has made too many critical blunders this season that has cost us games we lost when we were winning in the 4th qtr. Our defense is non-existent despite anomalies like the win versus the Bengals on Monday night. If you took away the stats from that one game we'd be at the bottom in the league defensively.
Why does that offensive tackle want to have a depiction of a man being literally tortured to death on his arm?

I disagree with this. Removing 1st round picks from thr equation means they don't have the large contracts and signing bonuses for rookies for 3 years. The 2nd-5th rounds are where they fill the holes they have. Cleveland has been down for so long that the talent they have can be the building blocks for a good team.

Not sure they couldn't pull off a player-for-player trade for a serviceable LT for Kareem Hunt, if they didn't want Wills to be The Guy. Whether this would be a sensible trade... that's up for debate. Buwe're talking about the Browns...
There's something happening with the Chargers that could be a model for Cleveland !!! Slater is out for the year , but we got the steel of the draft in 6th round pick Jamaree Salyer !!! How he slipped so far is a question for the ages , but there are always late round OTs and Gs that ball !!! LT is to criticle a position to settle for less than stellar !! Good luck guys !!
Great. I had Jamaree as the #1 guard on my draft list for the Ravens. Why did he drop so far? Most teams are hit and miss when drafting. In other words they don't know what they are doing.
