- I've already done a video looking at alternative miniatures for use with Games Workshop's Middle-earth SBG (Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game) and beyond but I missed one producer! I have a deeper look at the range from Medbury Miniatures which is perfect for filling the gaps in your collection.

The range is great for building up armies for Middle-earth SBG without having to rely on eBay or Games Workshop to Made To Order offerings on their webstore. They match the official ranges quite nicely in scale and aesthetics and could be perfect alternatives.
Let me know if you've picked up any of the Medbury Miniatures collection for your armies?

Aw chucks
This was a fun surprise to watch on a Monday morning. I watch pretty much all off your videos but this was the hardest one to get through it's one off those things it's hard to watch people talk about your own work, but I did it I made it through!
Appreciate the acknowledgement off talking about the folklore influences, obviously some off them fly under the radar more then others
So yea hrothgar, unferth those guys are all from the beowulf saga, Lohengrin and elza are also from the 13th century story off the Swan knight, then adapted by wagnar into a play,
I need to go back and revise my collections cause when you were talking about the robin hood rangers I have 12 minis from the historicals that are in that unarmoured ranger vibes I use as dunedain, but alas I'm 1 person with limited time!
Not feburary but march and may are gonna be again focused on beowulf characters and more medieval stories, I think that stuff is pretty neat, aswell as the duel purpose if it is for lotr, it fits the book descriptions off being all dark age early medieval no plate armour vibes, but pretty much all of it is done, humans that is, in loose historical armies in saga and such,
But yea this was a good surprise to see! Much appreciate the shout out, we haven't spoken yet but I could tell you apart from a hypothetical adam lol, hit me up if you ever come to aus!
Hi there - glad that you enjoyed the video! Your collection really is pretty darn awesome. I'm a massive fan of the Beowulf saga so seeing those characters properly clicked with me. I like that the miniatures all have the chance to be used in different games - especially as a SAGA player! I always liked the "semi-mythical" elements in the game so stuff like this works nicely.
I shall keep an eye for what pops up via Patreon and MyMiniFactory :)
Hello from chilly northern Maine! Great video. I just wanted to say I've been loving this channel recently. Great stuff. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching and hello back! Glad you've been enjoying the videos :)
Cant beat Medbury for LOTR style Minis
For sure - such a good mix of miniatures :)
I like this type of video. If you know any more, I'd love to hear about it!
Nice video! I'm waiting on some of the Corsair proxies, from ForgeMaster. It's nice to be able to build them as either reavers or with shields. I might try to magnetize them (which will be an experiment) if it looks like it'll work out with the sculpts.
Very cool - always worth doing a bit of an experiment! Hope the Corsairs come together nicely
There are several people on Etsy who print at reasonable prices in case you don't have easy access to a 3d printer.
Yup - I show off one of them in the video :)
I plan on printing some of these for Oathmark. There are still quite a few miniatures they haven't officially released yet and I would like alternative options for Elves, and some other races.
Oathmark options are a good shout. I hope we start to see Medbury do a few more 1st Age stuff that would be fun to use alongside some Silmarillion storytelling!
I ordered a Rohan kings guard in december from Forge master havent quite arrived yet as im in the states but yeah amazing minis at a good price point
Very awesome - I think they might be some of my favourites :)
kinda hard to think up minis for Lotr that will fit well into the theme, but i believe that some miniatures kits from "Warlords of Erehwon" "Oathmark" & "Kings of War" there is also "Deus vult" that has really nice knight miniature however their mostly 28mm
ngl Medbury Miniatures has really nice miniatures too ill probably take a look what else they have.
Some good suggestions! I have done a video looking at a LOT of the Oathmark range which is very, very Tolkienesque so it works perfectly. Some of the knights and such would be grand if you wanted to make Gondor in particular.
They do have some great models, but it's a shame they haven't got a merchant printer in either Oz or NZ. There's definitely a market for it here, but I guess no company is really set up to fulfil for them.
For those Corsairs, I'd be tempted to use the helmeted ones as Black Numenoreans. Sure, the book describes them as heavily armoured and twisted, but they look different enough from the others that you'll be able to tell them apart. Plus they look like they've stepped out of some Angus McBride MERPG artwork, which is a massive plus in their favour.
Oh yeah the Angus McBride vibes are on point with those fellows :) Fingers crossed that a merchant decided to get printing! I bet the scene down there would quite like it.
@@BecauseOfDragons it's going through a real growth phase right now thanks to the Battlehosts and people digging their 20 year old minis out of storage, but some people are turning to proxies for some of the harder to find models.
It's a bit ironic that I can easily visit the Hobbiton film set, but putting together a Shire list with official models is remarkably difficult.
Look at Etsy there are several who ship fairly cheaply to Australia from Spain and Finland. Have bought quite a few ad postage is no more than within Australia where I am.
Clansmen of Lamedon not lossarnarch :)
Ah that's the one! Got confuzzled!
Victrix vikings for a Dunland Army £35 for 60 miniatures, Bargain 👍👍👍
ESO just did videos about it 😜
I have indeed seen that - it's a pretty darn good way to start an army of rampaging Dunland folk
