- A short overnight backpacking trek to Fordyce Falls.
This is an easy trek that can also be done as a day hike. Make sure you have a map as the trail can be hard to find at times. Lots of easy water crossings along the way. Permits are not required for overnight camping, but be sure you have a wilderness campfire permit (available online) if you plan on using a stove or having a campfire. Check for restrictions before making campfires!
We had no issues with bears but we did see a rattlesnake so tread carefully! As always, leave no trace.
If you have any questions about this hike, ask them in the comments and I'll be happy to answer.

What a treat to have all these gorgeous hiking locations!
Thanks again for taking the time to video and share this beautiful adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a gorgeous hike!
Right? So fortunate to live close to this and to have the good health to get there!
Not sure why, but I was surprised you came across a rattlesnake up that high. I would have thought it was to cold for them. Loved this video and will add a version to my summer hiking list. I really like how you post the trail map and distance at the end. It’s a great visual. Thanks for sharing.
They are definitely up that high! My son was ahead of us the next day as we hiked out and he ran into one in the same area. Might've even been the same snake. It was fairly warm (70s) when we were hiking, but the reptiles are surely looking for sunny spots to get warm.
Be glad you only "saw" the buzz worm. Gives you something to photograph & to talk about later.
Good ole trekking poles for stability when log crossing as water rushes by underneath.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Second rattlesnake we've run across during our hikes this year. Thankfully this one announced its presence with a rattle. The first one did not, but I spotted it before getting too close.
@@sierranevadahikes8538 I see rattlesnakes from time to time. I've never caused it to coil B4 striking. They rattle, I stop where I am; the rattlesnake has crawled off in the opposite direction & I continue on my way, still on full alert. I'm normally able to take the rattlesnakes photo as a memento of the hike/outdoor adventure.
Heyyyy! Had to watch with the volume down. How long (miles) was this hike? Thx.
It’s about nine miles out and back.
When was this hike? I'm planning a similar trip and worried about snow.
Almost two weeks ago. No snow at all on the trail.
@@sierranevadahikes8538 Ah I see the June 3rd date on your AllTrails now. Thanks for the detailed review! Just saved my trip :)
