Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on CZcams!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

Hey do you guys ever come to Hawthorne? Would love to hang out and talk. Got a few mines here if interested.
Hey gly, why isn't there any footage yet?
Guys love your work, love your channel. Just so you know I skip the music intro all the time. It's quite long and a little dramatic for my taste.
The equipment outside and the tool shed are really incredible! Thank you so much for sharing this great Abandoned and Forgotten Place!
Why is there so many private property signs at this location?
it's so funny watching Gly have a senior moment ....welcome to our world hahahaah... we know that mine well .....it's preserved because the owner use to chase people off of it back in the 80's and 90's ....most of the mines in that area were lead , Silver , Zinc and Copper
He mentioned the name at the beginning- Dora something or other?
Wow first to comment. Must not be mining.
@@cantshootthis I think he uses false names for all the locations unless they're very well known already.
Your channel is really good Jeff. Great stuff man. Nice to see you here 👍😃
@@muskyelondragon thanks
WOW JUST WOW!!!!
What them men went through to try and make it big. They look at it like there is nothing in our way that can stop us. Just incredible, wish people still had that drive today. Give me a case of beans, whiskey, a few tins of tobacco and we will get it done, or die trying.
Great Location iam glad Mr. M’s knees Held up getting up there. Outstanding work gentlemen keep it up and be safe out there.
🇺🇸⚒💎⛏🧨🍻🇺🇸
It would be amazing to see an accurate 3D computer model of a mine like this.
“Gly”: That would be cool.
There are old DOOM maps that attempted as much (and probably other games too, but that's my fave). And you're inside... but yeah, a transparent model accurate to the mine would be absolutely stunning to see.
czcams.com/video/JEXYJFiRqTQ/video.html it would look like a cardiovascular system. with stopes being organs, because im beginning to think they are
@@walt Wouldn't it be cool to see their routes through the mines that way.
Mine maps should be a thing
It's crazy that not only you're exploring these mines but you're also basically kitted up like a pro film crew. I appreciate it, that's a lot of work and effort, thank you!
A thankyou to previous explorers who left all those old artifacts in place.
At 24:01 it's almost like the final crew said, hey we're not going back in here again so let's go ahead and take out the rest of that pillar there and leave just enough to keep it from collapsing for a while.
“Gly”: There was something in the bottom of that pillar that really got them excited!
I’m not a person who sought out your videos. CZcams recommended one and I was holding my breath as you went down 400 feet on those ladders. Been hooked since!
I would urge you to watch more! Like from the start. For one of the best and scariest and most real, see Silver Souls episode where we see how rescue-timbering looks. The visuals of that will bring the seriousness of what Mr. M and yeah, Gly are doing. They are professionals and hold very high safety standards that are benchmarks other explorers respect.
This is extreme adventure exploration and it scares the living sh*t out of me more often than not! Enjoy the channel and never "Go where wise men fear to tread!"
Ya! Sullivan mine had me puckered all the way down! Savannah cat? Cool! Has it tried making you a snack!!!?
@@dousiastailfeather9454 I have started watching from the beginning. Learned all about the precautions he takes. Starting on episode 6 later today. I think we all get a bit of the adrenaline rush when he does some of the exploring. Especially when he his passing under a partial collapse, I so badly want to cover my eyes but don’t want to miss anything.
@@dousiastailfeather9454 they are scary to watch! I think that’s part of why I got hooked. I know that would not be me going into these mines. And yes when my boy is hungry he tries to bite off fingers...lol
Episode 72. He gets into some sketchy places in that one.
That was a Hot bulb Diesel hit-n-miss engine c.1920 in the cable house. Most of them ran on kerosene. Engines like this but running on oil well gas were used on oil well pump jacks up into the early 1970’s here in Wyoming.
Ah, hot bulbs... run on damn near anything liquid you can get into it that'll burn and make it back out.
@@mfree80286 The hot bulb is how these engines are started. You have a plug that you heat with a blow torch, some have a burner that hangs below the heat bulb. The bulb was heated to red heat than you can start it.
Here in Arizona we called ‘em “hot ball diesels” because the mine blacksmith would get a steel ball from the ball mill drum and get it red hot in his forge. Then he’d grab it with tongs and drop it into the hollow of the engine head and the engineer would start cranking/pulling rope and the engine would fire. Maybe.
Hi ken what part of Wyoming are you from .
Mr. Magnificent, I'm 66 and kind of messed up my knees skiing when I was younger. I've been using Ace knee supports for over 15 years. They're the kind made out of something like diving suit material with a hole in the middle for your knee cap, and held on with velcro. They make it possible to take care of my land and get out hiking. I also found that trekking poles help a lot on steep terrain. Not to take weight off my knees, but to stabilize my balance, especially when going down hill. It takes a lot of sideways stress off my knees, and I can concentrate more on what's around me than where I'm stepping. (Keep looking out for snakes though.) I'm working on trying to get my weight down because it's amazing how much that helps. But my God it's difficult! Kudos for getting out to the far reaches and high places.
I use the same brace for getting around the farm after wrecked my knee in Somalia in the Australian army 1993
@@Adventcha Take care of your wrecked knee; they don't improve with time. Avoid things like jumping off a tractor. I had a friend who worked in a warehouse, who jumped off the fork lift onto concrete floors for over twenty years. He's had both knees replaced, but can barely get around. He gained a bunch of weight, didn't do the required therapy, and got addicted to pain meds. I see knee replacement as a last resort.
From what I've read, Somalia was a hell of a place. I hope your knee was the worst damage, because that place could wreck your mind.
@@BlankBrain thanks mate I try to nurse the ol knee as much as I can around the farm but it’s least of my problems now, suffer chronic neck pain from carpentry injury in 2015 and two days ago I broke my wrist 🙂, also have had shoulder reconstruction and a fused left talus joint in my heel from falling six metres off a roof in 1998. I am what one would call a walking disaster waiting to happen 🙂, i still get around pretty good considering am 53 and have the body of a 70 something year old, i was going to start my own CZcams channel a few years back hence the channel name Adventcha ( play on words as Adventure already taken) , but have spent most of my time recovering from some sort of injury or another 🙂,
Kev
You and Mr M go places I wouldn't want to. I get to see this from my arm chair so thank you Mr M and Gly thank you
I love when Gly gets so excited that he's not so good with the words and the putting of them together lol
Big thanks to Gly and Mr M for breathtaking explore
“Gly”: You can tell when I’m having fun!
There was a commercial that started with a loud crack or clap that started shortly after Mr. M said he heard a false floor. So Gly was taking and I looked away for a second and suddenly that commercial started with that noise, scared the crap outta me. 😂
Hey, the green arrows help out a lot. Thanks for thinking about us!.
Well done guys. I can imagine you would feel some pressure to find a good mine site every week for your viewers, and you found a beauty with this one. Great find, well documented and well edited as usual. Very much looking forward to next week's video. I'm glad a big mine like this gives you 2 episodes and more time to find your next great adventure to share with us. Living the dream. Cheers from Australia.
im not sure how that mountain is staying up with all that rock taken out of it ,, pls take care of mr M every week im scared hes going to do to much and end up having a hart attack , stay safe from the uk
Mr M has to watch out for gly so he don't have a heart attack or hurt himself because Mr m has many years experience on him
Honeycomb structures are very strong
I hammered the Like button with a rusty old hammer I found!
“Gly”: Nice!
Wow! I knew this would have multiple parts. That is one huge mountain of Swiss rock.
best intro ever well done can do this every time
Mr M looks like a robot with his belly cam. You guys are living the dream!!!!
I was thinkin' the same about Gly and his fancy high-tech helmet. :D
This was one of my favorite episodes. Didn't hear Mr.M much but I think he was tired. Looked like a lot of climbing.
That is one humdinger of a mine you found there Gly, Looking forward to next week. See you there!
Amazing place, i enjoyed every minute of the video, Thanks for sharing
Awesome find , and a beautiful location.
The effort these miners went to is truly amazing, they really worked hard back then .
Very keen for next week.
Pete Australia
Amazing the area and you look up the Mt and say WE are going up THERE .Then all that climbing and you guy's got a big reward for the climb and that veiw. And the machinery is there amazing then all those finds deep inside that mt that was so steep climbed up the joy of the Mt and all the things around the bends that is what make's a super ADVENTURE.and one last reward for all that at least it was all DOWN hill at the end of the slope .and a Tip of the hat to the Great team you are .Cjd wash state ⛏️🇺🇸🤔thank you .
“Gly”: Thank you very much I’m happy you enjoyed it!
E-Gods Gly - in the opening shots when you walk along the ridge with precipitous cliffs an inch away, if you are trying for a feeling of 'adventure', you achieved it for sure. That was as scary as anything (well, almost) you've done inside a mine. Now I will watch the rest of the video. I, like Mr. M need a little break occasionally.
I know right? Watching Gly walk along the rails where everything was washed out.. I was holding my breath. Started to get vertigo..😂
It's so cool Mr M is such a calm cool type siting back letting gly lead and learn because Mr M has many more years experience and just tagging along to enjoy and letting gly learn guys like Mr M are special and the best friend to always have
Episode 97. On TV, 100 episodes means syndication. Hear that Netfix? Might want to call Mr. M real soooon! ;)
Is it my imagination or has the resolution of the footage just taken a big step up? That was just awesome and you sure have some epic lights to light up those big stopes. This channel just keeps getting better. Thanks Gly and Mr M looking forward to next weeks episode
“Gly”: We film everything in 4K 30fps except for the drone which is filmed in 2.7K
Getting close to the 100th episode... can't wait
Good job guys don't ever stop doing these videos are the great work
Great as usual. Hope Mr MS legs are ok. It's amazing How the little pillers hold up that mountain. Whew. Awsome. Stay safe guys. Next week.
That was magnificent, this mine is incredible and I am absolutely delighted that it is so well preserved. What effort they went to to take the equipment there. It is all so very impressive. Thank you for bringing this to us. We can only appreciate your presentational skills as the introductory and concluding music certainly befits this mine.
Production quality is getting better and better with every episode. Really great...and don't believe for a second I didn't hear the World of Warships music in the beginning :D
Wow that was great! Can’t wait till next week
Hey Mr. M, your bellycam is working great!
Wow! Great mine and interesting video Gly and Mr. M. Thank you!
Hi Gly & Mister M, wow what a fantastic mine to end your time there before heading to Nevada. Thank you so much for sharing your exciting adventures with us, much love. xx 🙏💖
All the equipment left behind was so cool to see. Gota love remote and hard to reach areas
Well done to Mr M for such a big effort on this mine, with no whinging lol.
Ps. the 360 camera should be called glys nostril hair camera...
its a bit close for comfort in my likeing
“Gly”: Haha... 4K nostril hair!

Great work. Can't await for next week already lol.
Very cool mine. I can’t wait for next week! It didn’t matter if we were camping or mine exploring, our motto was “ you pack it in, you pack it out”! If we were working our claim for a week or two we always policed the area before we pulled out.
That is one hell of a mine. Thanks
Hey Gly and Mr. M, sweet find and thanks for taking us along. Until next week all of you take care and stay safe.
What a mine. Can hardly wait till next week.

Wow I love the exploring old mines i am to old now but once I was bird hunting and came an old mine that nobody’s even knows about I did not have a flashlight so I could not go very far. Love this
WOW Really Surpised to see all of that Big Ballrooms with very little to hold it.....Humongus for the Grand Finale' Gosh Dern!! Stay healthy Gly & Mr. M.
Great Stuff Gly and Mr. M. Spectacular site and I'm looking forward to seeing the continuation. Thanks for capturing on film these places for those of us that would love to see them firsthand but simply can't. 30 years as a mechanical engineer and I'm still awe struck by the magnitude of the structures they built and what it took back then to even get some of those massive timbers up to that elevation and in place. Not to mention I can't imagine what it took to get machinery like you showed up there. Glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Another huge mine discovery! Wow! I can't imagine breathing all the dust on a daily basis - makes for a short life! Some very large stopes to be sure. Very high quality video. Loved the drone sequence at the intro. Well done Gly and Mr. M!
Very cool old mine lost of things to tell the story here Thank you Abandoned and Forgotten Places
Mr. M, you are the man. I am 50 and I get tired watching you go like a 40 yr. old all day !! Love the show, big fan...
WOW WOW THANK YOU FOR THE HARD WORK YOU AND YOUR SON HAS DONE TO BRING THESE VIDEOS TO THE PEOPLE
Wow what a cool mine. Those rooms were massive. Some fantastic artefacts as well. ⛏⛏⛏😎
Just incredible to see what men can do with minimal tools. All that work...excellent location. The 2nd part I am sure will be as incredible. Good luck, and stay safe guys...
Well if i need a new house ill build one in that mine wow that place is very big, great explore guys.
Coffee in hand sitting on my balcony. Watching you two delve into the depths of a mine. Best way to start a Saturday!
This one was incredible. The biggest ballrooms I've seen in these videos. It's a wonder that mountain stays up at all!
Great show, those rooms are huge.. cant wait to see nexts weeks show. Gly you and Mr M are an inspiration to us all keep up the great work. Hit that Thumbs up yall doesnt cost us anything to hit it but it's worth alot to these guys out making this unbelievable content for us to watch.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome intro guys another great show ,,love it,,,cant wait till next week ,stay safe
I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to each of your new videos. The more I watch, the more I want to watch all of these interesting places. Thanks to both of you.
Cool mine! I love the old machinery, railways and tools. I always wonder what it looked like when people where working there. The noise, dust, labour, stories told by colleagues after the weekend. Thanks Gly and mr M for a another interesting episode. Greetings from the NL.
Thankfully Gly and Mr. M. remembered to bring gloves this time. LOL, just kidding, great mine today. Always look forward to watching Sat mornings.
Gly Coolness is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Okay, that sounded better in my head.
“Gly”: Mmmmm... chocolate. 🤤
Hey mister coolness when are you going to let me know who does that one intro song didn't exit song you used to have in your earlier shows? I love that acoustic
Haha!
Come on don't make me beg you for it
Great intro Gly! We used the same intro music when we did our collaboration with Frank! Great way to wake up on a Saturday and start off with an adventure with Gly and Mr.M, take care guys!

What an amazing mine, can’t wait for next week, stay safe guys and thanks for sharing
Mad respect for Mr. M doing all of that. Gives me hope for what physical activities I could be doing in the next 40 years!
Another amazing mine...and wow all the relics left behind. Glad they are still in place.
I love watching your videos in the morning, right after they upload. Eating breakfast and watching this while I play Minecraft makes me just wanna go outside and head to the river to find agates and smash open rocks to find cool stuff! I'm no geologist, but I know a cool rock or mineral when I see one, hehe.
Hmm... I recently was eating some swirled ice cream and found myself carving the goodiness out like a stope! It angles down and got thicker and richer the deeper the stope got! But soon the vein played out and I was left with A LOT OF VANILLA OVERBURDEN! Alas, local regulators required complete restoration of the site so I disposed of the material by traditional methods... (Errrup!)
“Gly”: Lol... interesting. I just got done eating Cherry Garcia ice cream. Very little vanilla overburden but plenty of cherry and chocolate nuggets. 😋
The perfect way to start my Saturday morning 👌
And my afternoon :) greetings from the Netherlands 👋🏼
I love this show y’all! Gly reminds me of Marty stouffer from WILD AMERICA , that was on PBS when I was a little dude, thank you gly&mr’M for such awesome content 🇺🇸
Wow absolutely amazing. Thank you for this incredible journey so far. No way could I do what you two do. I went in a little cave about a hour’s drive for my home years ago. Could not wait to get out, never been in any since. Stay safe boys.

What a brilliant mine to end with and what can I say WOW just WOW and really pleased Mr M got to get down there also loving this channel more and more keep up the good work love from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 😀 👏 👍
THIS IS YOUR BEST VIDEO EVER! The opening drone shots were very well done and very enticing. Once you entered, wow! The intricate meanderings of the ubiquitous rails and the caverns, stops and chutes-wow! The miners who got to push the rail cars had to have been very strong. I'm excited about the next part. I hope you gents are rested after the exertion. Thank you!

A real stroke of luck that I stumbled upon your channel.
It is worth every minute.

Excellent video and wonderful intro. I want (but who am I to say what I want. lol) you to load up next weeks video now. So enjoyable. awesome mine .. take your time that is a lot of climbing in the 60's . now the mining term where steel etc. might be worked on .. could be either the Blacksmith's shop or more recently we called it "the Drill Doctor's shop" . I long to be there with you guys .. you have no idea .
