Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on CZcams!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

I just want to take a second to appreciate the level of preparedness you take it to in order to give us Contant to watch. For those of you who don't understand. I would say easily 60 pounds worth of gear he carries each time he goes into these mines. Back in about 2013 a friend and myself explored some abandoned mines sites around the Capitol reef area of Utah. If you do not bring the gear, it's not anywhere around for you to go and get. Some of these mining sites are at least 150 miles from any type of civilization or small town gas station country store whatever. You have absolutely zero cell phone reception, so good luck calling for help unless you've got a CB radio or satellite phone. And the fact that he does this by his lonesome self man versus mine. I do not recommend anybody go into any mine by themselves no matter your experience level. This guy is a mad man for going in by himself but I'm sure he is very well-connected as far as letting people know where he's going when he's going where he will be how long is expected to be gone and went to send a search party if not back by wihen. This is by far in my top five favorite CZcams channels I am subscribed to, and I anxiously await each episode. If you are ever in the Tennessee area, there are quite a few mines and just my town alone that I would love to show you. There are 1850s to present call mines salt peter mines over 1100 documented mines in White County Tennessee alone.😅 some of them have been absolutely fantastic. Although there are some that are illegal to go into because of hazardous conditions with radon and other natural poisonous gases that occur. Which is why I don't recommend entering any earth cavity without proper training and equipment.
“Gly”: I try to keep it under 50Lbs but your right, this time it was around 60 with much of that being water weight because I knew it was going to be a long day.
Seconds over back to work
I’m a Tennessee native and didn’t know this. How cool
Cougars do not bury their scat, that was a cougar den for sure. They like to eat prey in dens and then move on. If you find a "litter box" of smaller scat in the sand, there is a more permanent bobcat den nearby.
You are very much appreciated! Thank you for getting an old lady out of the house!🙏🥰
You are so funny! 😂 “ that would gag a maggot “… My dad says that! I love it! Thanks for taking us on another adventure. Stay safe.
Adventures with you are always exciting! I have to say I get so anxious watching you walk into the face of being a possible meal. When you say things like, "Well this is a crumbly cave!", I hold my breath thinking how long it would take someone to find you and rescue you. Im always praying you stay safe and don't run into any harm whether animal, geological, or from criminals. It gets my mom heart working overtime... Like a kid that holds its hand up to cover their eyes and then peeks through the cracks to watch. Be safe out there!
Damn man, I gotta give it to you! How you manage to climb up on rocks with a heavy backpack and yet still be able to give commentary in a smooth conversational style is beyond me. You're obviously in excellent physical condition. I salute you, Sir!
When I lived in Alaska, I learned that the climb down was more dangerous than the climb up. Going up I can see where to put my hands and feet. Going down, I can not see where to grab or step. Up there, I also learned that the frozen ground would thaw and have a greasy sheet of mud on frozen ground later on the way down. That is really tough to navigate. Thanks for the video Gly, George.
never thought I would be the early bird for once! Thanks for another adventure Gly! Been having a rough time and being able to escape with your explorations is always a treat
Did you catch his worm?🪱
shartt up cunt. love from the camera mans girlfriend. ya muttttttt dog
The mule deer got into a fight with a desert tortoise. They both were fatally wounded in the battle! Haha. Well, probably a mountain lion. Yep!
“Gly”: Haha! I think you figured it out!
Those canyons and the scenery are spectacular. I thought sure you were going to find a mountain lion in that one mine, guarding his kill and den. The suspense was great. Thanks for the great video.
I think that carcase was a young Mule, killed by a Mountain Lion and dragged into the mine. Then all the hangers-on come in for a bite! Great explore Gly! Lovely dry mines, unlike ours here in UK, mostly flooded, all wet through so you can't see the veins!
To be honest I like the light zoomed out down the mine. Great video Gly. Stay safe my friend.
Gly, I can’t express my appreciation for this channel and I can’t thank you enough for the work you do! Your channel has just been getting better and better every episode ever since moment one that I subscribed. Thanks again!
“Gly”: Thank you very much! It’s my goal to make you feel like your right there with me.
Your too brave for your own good man ! Love your channel watch it every chance I get always be careful and God Bless you for all you do!
Brother, you need a Rokon 2wd motorcycle!
Ok, hmm, maybe your extension ladder?
Looks like a hot air balloon is your best choice?
Seriously, ty for sharing your exploits! The wtf moments are exactly what makes this awesome to us couch lizards!
“Gly”: I like the hot air balloon idea. 👍
That uninterrupted view of the side of Gly's head ahaha.
Those abandoned mine spiders wait patiently for old mine explorers!
Thank you Gly for another great explore. The quality of the videos keeps getting better. All the effort you put into them sure shows. Have a great week and see you in your shorts 😳🤪 soon.
Good day again Gly! Even if the original plan didn't work, you made it happen and had some good exploring. Thanks for another good Saturday morning. Hope you can get to the one that was too tough to get to, but if not, I'm sure there will be other adventures.
“Gly”: Still formulating a plan to safety get to it because I’m certain it’s loaded with artifacts. Like the Thunder Ridge Mine I just need to think about it for a bit.
I got to say this I found this channel three mounts before I moved out and got my own place. The first thing I bought was a 4K TV just to watch this CZcams channel in particular worth every penny keep up the good work like gly
My anxiety is through the roof with this one and I'm not even halfway through the video!
A mountain lion could easily take down a baby mule deer and drag it deep into the mine. Don’t you think? 😊
“Gly”: Sometimes animals will go into mines a short distance to escape the summer heat. Like burrows for example.
With all the scat you were coming across I think it might be a pack of wolves drug it into the mine and use the mine themselves as we all seen lol
Could have been either. Pack of dogs, or big cat.
Of course so can any creature.. of which there are many documented an un...
Favorite channel on CZcams....hands down
Thanks again for letting us come along
Looks like you found a Chupacabra borough. Good think he wasn't there. Thanks as always for a reason to get up on a Saturday morning.
Old Bob needs a Helicopter friend! 😉
Great Video. Just imagine what it took for these men to bust through & takeout all of that rock. Hard hard labor.
As always, thank you so much for your hard work to create these videos for us, Gly! Enjoyed the video today as usual.
Thanks for doing this and documenting it. We would lose a lot of significant history if it wasn’t for you and other channels that are immortalizing history. Keep it up!
WOOHOO NEW VIDEO! Love all of your videos Gly. My wife and I watch them every week! Keep on ROCKIN' Gly Coolness!
Way cool episode. The best mine exploration channel with terrific high res drone shots. Thanks Gly!
“Gly”: Thank you!
Best mine exploration videos so far...good forward lighting, other lighting too. Great drone footage of the area...! Your doing a service for people who cannot travel to see such undertakings, and would never walk into a crumbling old mine. Think the skat and carcass was a big mountain lions meal....!
Thanks Gly for showing us a few more mines today, I enjoyed listening to you!!
So enjoy your videos 📹 please keep them coming 🙏 and here to help get your videos 📹 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 have a wonderful day 😀 😊
Thanks Gly for all you do . Great production value! Your the best in the business !
Gly, you awesome! Your CZcams channel is professionally done. Thank you for taking me along on your journey through history
“Gly”: Thank you very much!
I truly admire your tenacity and perseverance. Especially within neuropathy. I have had 6 spine surgeries, 3of them fusions, and pretty wicked nerve damage in my limbs so i teuly understand and appreciate what you are doing! God Bless and stay safe!
Hey, you popped up as I was browsing so I thought I'd hang around and see what you're up to 😊
Really enjoyed exploring those caves with you, I'd love to do this but I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to underground and the thought of rattlesnakes terrifies me 🫣 You're really easy to listen to and sound like a lovely bloke so I'll definitely be back tomorrow to look at your other vids, looking forward to it.
Nice to meet you 🫲😊
Hey, Gly, Y'know, there's a lot of your adventures that I have to keep reminding myself that since the video got posted, you made it out alive. It helps take the edge off. The mountains are so gorgeous and the geology never ceases to fascinate. Thanks for another great adventure! I love your channel!
I have used scree slopes many times like an escalator, it was nice to see the scree slope shot footage at the very end of your video, thanks.
As usual, another excellent and interesting video. Thank you for all you do to bring this channel to us. You must be in excellent shape as well. Keep up the good work !
Thank you for another awesome video Gly!
Hi Gly! Really enjoy your adventures, especially these 3 mines. You asked about the deer, I believe like you it was drug back there. Probably wolves or a mountain lion. I’m betting it might be wolves. They both see in the dark though. Anyway thank you for taking us all along into mine exploring!
Thanks!
Another great outing, Thanks Gly !
Love how you film, feel like I am in the mine too. I enjoy how you explain everything. You have courage to go in that stinky mine. ☺️
First Scat pile I yelled "BIG CAT"! I hope you had your firearm on this trip, be safe Gly. Also I don't think the stink brought the predators, I think the predators brought the food home.
Very beautiful mountains around. When a giant poop appeared in the first mine I just thought "get out of there!!!" 😂
Great video
thanks again Gly!
Man, if my phone only had smellavision. Some good ol long mines. Always nice.
Another great explore! The drone footage and your choice of music compliment each other very well. You have come along ways on your videography. Nice job!
“Gly”: Thank you very much!
Greensburg?
I like the light that lets us see deep into the mine whether it's moving around or not!
It just feels better seeing far ahead!
Nice save!!! Really made lemonade and turned into a great video! Thank you!
Mountain lions and rattle snakes, I am out of there! Lol
Thanks for another adventure Gly
Gly keeps looking at that poop on the ground and thinking "I need to get outta here" Lol...I with ya Gly I wouldn't have gone anywhere as far in as you did even with a gun!, you know how hard it is to hit a quick moving target with a pistol?...VERY hard
You need to talk your Mrs into adventuring with you. If I had a man that enjoyed adventures my life would be complete! I live getting lost on the back roads. Thank you for all you do!
“Gly”: No Mrs in my life but I do take resumes via email. Don’t worry, the list isn’t long… I’m no Jim Morrison… but when I sing I do sound allot like David Gilmore. 🤔
Hey I enjoy your videos... I've been a mind jumper rappelling down vertical shafts for 25 years.... And boy kudos to you you've got a lot more equipment than I ever carry... I love the Jeep yes sir always have a Jeep!!
Another Awesome episode, thank you Gly 😊
keep up the good work. it's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it.
At 49:21 it looked like eyes or your light hitting an object. Awesome video and photography!
Hey Gly and friends ! ❤
Bud, sure looked like javelina scat to me, and a large bedding area in that first left hand pocket. They leave a very musky smell, and I've seen them around portals before.
The little deer probably went in on its own if I had to guess.
Thanks for the great videos.
What gets me is who in the hell pointed up there and said, hmm, let try up there.
“Gly”: You wouldn’t think that man has walked most every inch of these hills looking for their fortune but the truth is they did especially during the time period when thousands were migrating towards the California goldfield’s.
Also my wife thinks it's bear scat. We got in a argument about it. I say no in that area. Any info on what it was?
another amazing video, im amazed at your zest for adventure and fun, that treck through the mine where the dead ?goat was certainly keep us on edge, i fast forward at one stage, then though its ok there wouldnt be any video if anything went wrong...lol great stuff, thanks againll
I felt sure I heard your heart pounding in the first mine! An intriguing comment from the bucket. 😀🇦🇺
That's a cool one to wander around in! Have fun be safe gly. Don't do what we wouldn't...... oh wait you already do lol until next time. Mr. E
Gly you were 100 percent right when you said you knew I was wondering why there was no comment on the bucket.. I laughed so hard my wife asked what I was laughing at . Have a nice week … I’ll be watching for your next video or short
You know the stink is pretty good when Gly doesn't even mention the beautiful slip wall/fault at 26:02!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Big old wolf spider,, after crickets,, he can really jump and catch them.
Great video Gly. I do remember that one explore you did and something in the cave ran off up an ore pass. Even got it's glowing eyes and the noise on video. Could have been a Mountain Lion you said. Hey...that scat on the floor...I think you found Big Foot's Man cave. haha. That was some big scat. Too big for a Mnt Lion??? Or...you found a really BIG Mnt Lion favorite rest stop. Stay safe!
Gly,,thank you so very much for these videos and for the hard work that goes into every episode.Today i desided to watch when i was having my diner, well so much for an enjoyable meal. Next week i will be eating before watching.
Definitely would have turned back myself once I started smelling the rotten carcass 😂
You are braver than I am! That is for sure. I am not the type to go into places like this, let alone with rotting animals. Nice to watch though. Thank you for making it.
The drone video from the canyon of doom is spectacular. Thanks for posting it.
Good to see you. That was a definite bear I have ran across kills like that before in the woods while helping dad or gramps when they were falling timber logging. They are most dangerous when guarding a fresh kill or cubs so you got lucky because it had been there long enough for the bear to have eaten all it wanted and had moved on however it may return to den up for the winter. Keep a close lookout around the area happy mine exploring. See you next time
LOVE the drone footage! More please.
This is better than a movie!
Hi gly watching from ireland love the channel keep the great content coming.
What a great adventure!
Gly, your drone work, Cinematography and production skills get better with each and every video! The music choices are perfect for the video and you continually coming to our houses each week with new interesting material. I've said it before and I will say it again, you are like an old hat that when you put it on everything is just right.
One question for you… do you have a giger counter that you could also carry on your belt just to see what the background radiation is in these excursions you go on? I think it would add an element to the videos as well.
“Gly”: Thank you very much! Each week I present myself a production challenge to keep things fresh and fun for both the viewers and myself. This week was the “sneak shot”, notice how the drone hugged the cliff face while following Old Bob through the canyon in the 2nd travel sequence? I got it on the first try. 👍
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I definitely noticed that!!! Also you very rarely ever get the drone's shadow in any of the footage. That also takes commitment and some skill to try to make the drone invisible.
@@bradboardwell8295 I noticed that also. Nice handling of your "equipment".
Don't mine me, (lol) I was just watching the fun you were having going around in circles.
Thanks, "Gly"! Hope your legs hold up. A cougar probably chased the deer in the mine and had a snack. Safe journeys.
Gly: Nothing is really a disappointment. All of it is an adventure. (And I didn't halve to climb the hills) The geology was puzzling but I would say that they put in more than they ever took out. See you next week! Dean
“Gly”: I agree, if this mine was profitable there would’ve been allot more ore chutes or ore passes.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I suspect they mined investors more than ore!
Your adventures are always so incredible Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Awesome explore Gly, stay safe out there, all the best from Tasmania. Australia. It would be nice to have Randy or Mr M along for their funny input especially Mr M, you and he just had a special chemistry. Anyway you take care when your out there alone.................all the best
Piggy back on a mountain lions back? And by back I mean in its mouth. 🤓
Thanks for another great video Gly C.
I swear my anxiety goes nuts watching you which I LOVE TBH! You are so brave and I’m not going to lie, I worry that you are going to fall or get stuck!! lol Some of those shots I found myself saying OK MR COOLNESS, BACK AWAY FROM THE EDGE! Lol and I have to say that I was creeping slowly in the first mine right along with you! That’s was sooooooo cool and scary! I do have a question though!! How do you get the drone to follow you when you are driving? (I know nothing about drones. Just curious) However amazing and beautiful!!
Another spectacular show! Can always count on waking up sat morning to another Gly adventure! Thank you!!! 🥰
“Gly”: Thank you, I’m happy you enjoyed this one. In wide open areas I can fly the drone while driving but in tight areas like that canyon I use a different drone that follows me autonomously.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces technology!!! Pretty amazing!!
Thanks for your work! Brave man 🙌🏻 greets from overseas ! France Europe 😉👋🏻
LOL ... possibility of "Wolf Man" or "Wild Man" drug the cercus up into the mine, that was some serious scat found on the floor.
The last time I was watching one of your videos I had a stroke. That was Sept of 21, less than a month after I got my second covid vaccine. I hadn't seen one of your videos since. When this one popped up I was really reluctant to even watch it because of the stroke I had. Lucky for me the stroke did no damage at all. I think you are blessed that you are able to explore these mines like you do. I'm sure you have to be in pretty good shape. Be careful in there.
We love your Video's, Gly!!
Gly,, what an extraordinary find and exploration. Sometimes it’s best to persue your wonders otherwise you’d always be straching your head. Or kicking yourself in the behind. Thank you for taking us on a extraordinary glimpse with such dramatic challenges and an spectacular view. This one almost qualifies with the Thunderr ridge mine you did back in September. Believe it or not Indians and cowboys may have hide out in those lonesome canyons 150 plus years ago. U may want to check your arm out if in gives u problems in the near future. . GLY in that wash out ,, you’d get a good cool off . 😂😊. I bet old Bob love that . Driving through a magnificent view of that canyon from drone work. The mine had a great view. But pew wee on the smell. . Thank u for sharing your extraordinary find and awesome rugged scenery 😮. Big hand for a big find. Thanks for sharing this video.
“Gly”: Even though this attempt didn’t go quite the way I expected it too it still turned out to be a good adventure. Thanks Tina!
And what an adventure it was. Thanks again AWESOME 😎
Great drone work! 🇨🇦
I found myself staring up that haulage addit as intently as you thinking something was gonna come hurtling towards you. Another great Saturday afternoon view.
Btw... Love the video! Another home run!
Thanks again Gly.👍♥️🇺🇸
Nice video thank you my friend
Always very informative.
Wow be careful Gly! Safe adventures!
