When my mother got remarried 2 years ago, not even 2 years ago. The photographer had amazing photos so they hired him and he showed up with iPhone X Pro and they basically told him to go home. An iPhone is not going to replace a DLSR.
It's good enough for casual film-makers and people who are not super tech savvy. The iPhone camera is actually pretty good for everyday use, they're not targeting professional photographers or film makers, but the people who want to get into photography at a budget.

Not going to lie, the iphone 12 actually has some major upgrade this year. Also the product isn't insanely overpriced. Your actually getting what your paying for. If you were to get a 32 inch 8k display it would be the same sized pixels as these phones. Then there's 120hz. Apple is doing an insane job.

@@MR-kr3lu Well you see the reason why they didn't go with 120hz this year is pretty simple. They just went with 5G instead because it's easier to market. Perhaps next year or the year after that they might introduce 120hz after they find the balance of performance to battery life with both 5G and 120hz.

I think the only other thing I wanted to say about the consumer/in-depth part.
Consumers want to know what they are getting, if you want a phone that makes calls and nothing else, then just buy a flip phone. If you want to buy something a bit more, then you’ll want to know exactly what it is and why it differs from Samsung or Nokia.
It’s necessary as part of the market to make yourself diverse whilst at the same time, not being diverse, calling a spade a spadeular sort of thing.

@@BnMProductions11 You know nothing about smartphone cameras or full-fledged cameras my guy. Most people don’t even knwo standalone cameras exist anymore, nor do they carry one. And they want the best camera quality in the palm of their hand. On top of that, thanks to the improvements in what the industry calls ‘computational photography’, they’re even getting BETTER than standalone cameras, considering the image quality you can get nowadays out of a TINY smartphone sensor, compared to normal cameras. The iPhone 12 series are the first CAMERAS in the world to be able to shoot in Dolby Vision. So no, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with bringing better camera technology to more and more people. You can drop more than $5000 to be able to get 3 different lenses for your camera, while those 3 lenses are included in your $1000 smartphone. It’s kind of a bargain if you think about it. Call me a fanboy all day long, that won’t change that fact.

Not sure where in the world you got $600 from but screen repairs from Apple go up to $329 for the most expensive iPhone but you can get far cheaper elsewhere. Even screen repairs from Samsung are up to $279 for their most expensive non-folding phone. But alas, you can get screen repairs from third parties for far cheaper. Your argument about expensive repairs doesn't really prove anything.

Don't know anything about costs on return and such. But if you decide to upgrade the apple space, this iPhone 12 is perhaps their most competitive phone in a while. It would be a good choice. You could wait another year, but then you would say the same next year. If you do a lot of video recording, the new iphone 12 pro max will be a serious upgrade (albeit very expensive).

I'm using a $350 android phone from 2017, it works perfectly and does everything a smartphone is supposed to do. I see absolutely no reason to spend more than $500 on a phone.
