Hello sir. First of all, thank you so much for these great tutorials. I think the 3 advantages of AI to mankind are; 1: Increase the efficiency in all areas we can think of. For example in the future, where all cars are autonomous, there would be no traffic jams because cars can communicate with each other and drive accordingly. (It also prevents traffic accidents due to human mistakes) 2: Since AI doesn't have emotions (at least now) they can make the hard decision for us. For example, wars between countries (NONSENSE). 3: It can help us to understand the universe better by analyzing Footage from space or help to solve some of the mysteries of quantum physics (I don't know how:) ). The 3 Risks that AI might cause are the other point of view the advantages come with the AI 1: Since AI increases efficiency in all areas many people might lose their jobs and can't earn their living. 2: Since AI doesn't have emotions it can make immoral decisions. For example, an autonomous car would hit a pedestrian just for saving its owner. 3: Maybe someday AI might get too smart and we can live life as in The Matrix. All in all, I think AI is a good invention of mankind (maybe the best). It will certainly have negative effects on some point but positive sides will be much more. Hey, Paul! I'm very excited for this series. I recently finished an internship working for a lab focused on the automation of agricultural tasks, and AI was a recurring topic in their projects. I gained some experience working with OpenCV and training a computer vision model, but I'm sure I'll learn tons from your explanations of this topics. Here are my thoughts on artificial intelligence: Benefits: - Security systems that can identify intruder or pests and respond accordingly. - Streamlined, automated data acquisition such as counting the amount of fruit in a grove to provide more accurate yield prediction in agriculture. - Advanced gesture interfacing. I saw a video by Zack Freedman using AI to control a wearable display of his and it was amazing! Risks: - Slanderous machination of just about anyone with the use of deepfakes. Misinformation is already rampant today and this would be detrimental unless everyone had a solid understanding of the potential of this technology. - Automation will drive out the need for human labor in many areas, rendering those individuals redundant. - More effective manipulation of individuals. Social media sites are already gathering tons of data from each user to tailor the content provided in order to maximize time spent on these platforms. As AI gets better at understanding the inputs and outputs of human behavior online it gains the ability to control us more effectively. In my opinion artificial intelligence is a field with the potential for so many great developments that will increase our quality of life in the upcoming years. We should not scare away from the idea of it because of the foreseeable challenges ahead (and those we don't see yet!), as I am sure that counter-measures, required regulation, and etiquette will come as it becomes a more integral part of our lives (like the internet). The progression of technology is inevitable, we will be better off embracing it, and adapting to it, rather than trying to fight it.

When person "A" hits unlock; the seat, mirrors, radio.. automatically adjust to where person "A" left the settings. And the same thing happens for person "B" with the second key fob. So imagine what smart homes with ring door bells could do with this AI! 1) The main big one I can see right off the bat is invasion of privacy. 2) Snowden 2 3) The movie Ex Machina comes to mind. There may be many more just exploring AI and amazed by the science behind in the normal every day things we do when we teach the computers on how to do it. I see the immediate advantages in the ease of work and automation in the work we do especially in the most critical departments and like health and defence and also efficiency in the work we do while minimising the cost to build and run them in today's world. The disadvantage can be how we are to govern them, who is going to create the policies, what are the trust and privacy agreements and who makes this decision and many more on the security and control of this information as no one is watching how this data can be interpreted for usage but the much awaited next steps needed for next era of internet and in combination with 5G and Blockchain the applications can be mindblowing, just to wait and watch how this turns out. Advantages: Improved systems of transportation as seem with self-driving cars are the "space race". Technological advancement, making things that seem hard to do before easy. Support for humans, some AI is already taking care of schedules, helping to turn some switches on and off, and could go as far as helping with more physical tasks. Disadvantages: Loss of jobs, especially in transportation and sales, seem in shops where most companies are trying to transition from humans to robots. Could be used as a weapon, as people hungry for mad power can harness its potentials to hurt people, like giving AI the ability to decide who lives and who dies, this is not the doing of AI but by the people who create, train and give it such tasks. Overall AI will enhance the human experience and help with loads of problems, like processing data quickly and having an additional set of hands to help. Yep, and the USA is weaponizing them a lot and has. Darpa project OFFSET and project OVERLORD, and the older technologies that are less violent like auto AA and ABM technologies. Greater chances we will do that even more due to the USA's extreme predicted ineffectiveness and lack of capable power, tactics and tech to operate in WW3 against the developing Russia-China alliance (even though no one would win that war no matter what). Make drones control nuclear assets and we are all done. Not the place to bring this up but we all need people thinking up ways to prevent and deter war, and it all starts with us.

I have always found it funny how easy it is to get into new subjects after watching your videos. it's truly an art. I tried by myself to get into Arduino years ago but I couldn't, until I found you, my first teacher and probably the best teacher. Hi Paul. Thank you for being such a good teacher for us. I'm not sure if I'm alone in this or others can testify similarly, but I'm here because you really know how to teach. I feel better seeing that I can do it, I can keep up, etc. Teaching it's a gift and you have it. Now the list of pros and cons: 1) AI can be used to assist in trials, as "Judges". Because AI is strictly about being impartial, non-emotional, all-rational. So AI can be used in Courts. 2) AI can be used in politics to eliminate the politicians. Again, because being un-biased, non-partisan etc. 3) AI can be used to keep our minds sharp as we age. They could help us improve our memory, retain more and generally still staying sharp. There you go. A nice way to get rid of the most undesired people: politicians, biased and partisan judges, doctors who stuff us with pills so they can get their share, etc. Cons: 1) As they mimic more and more human traits it will become harder to draw a line. 2) Since they learn and "think", I wonder if it becomes possible to see us humans as "obsolete" and turn on us. 3) We rely too much on their "expertise". We use them in simulations, predictions, future possible outcomes, etc. What if a flaw is there and throws everything off? Final thought: Can we incorporate all the gadgets we accumulated in one final Grand Finale? We can use the Elegoo car robot, to which we attach one Rpi v.2 camera, and we send this little guy to find our pretrained models (images/pics of monkeys, dogs, cats) and/or intruders making use of face recognition and if these objects/pets/intruders are in a certain area this should trigger certain relays on Arduino which will close doors/windows turn on lights, issue verbal or sound warnings, etc. Final thought: It's so good to be here!

Hello professor. You may not remember me. My name is Patrick dixon. You are my professor at Devry arizona. Anyway I'm currently following your python lessons I think I'm on like less than eight. I also do a few of your Arduino lessons. Thank you for this AI series. It really is my field of interest. The top three benefits for society I think, are helping with medicine place space exploration and global warming. One thing I'm really concerned about, is it as computers become more aware how content they'll be in their role with us. I think he only solution we really have is to create a symbiotic relationship. Also I'm concerned about us losing our creativity. Finally I think we should have some kind of morality panel is there many moral issues that do not seem to be addressed only the ability to create technology.

I think the single biggest problem with AI is a continuation of the process of people abandoning thinking and taking responsibility, e.g. self driving cars. Its not that having machinery being able to do things for us that is the issue, but that in that process, we manage to avoid responsibility for the outcomes. When I saw the part of your demo where the head, arms, and hands were wireframed, I got excited. It's a small step from that to interacting with a completely virtual environment, which they do these days by wearing a 3D helmet so you feel like you're inside the VR. Alternatively, this could be used to interact with games on the computer screen. So your wireframe Avatar could pick up something in the game and use it in the game, as you act it out in front of the camera. Of course the 'wireframe' could be replaced with any type of body and armor you want. It used to be that to get this kind of virtual wireframe, you had to wear a body suit covered with sensors.
Michael, I have thought about that as well. I could create an entire math/science/engineering curriculum for high schoolers and college students, free of charge for the whole world. @@paulmcwhorter A quick summary of what you've done for me in one week: A few weeks ago my little robot pool cleaner quit working. I had one basic electronics course in 1986, but I never did anything with electronics after that. But I got the idea that if I could teach myself to solder, I could remove the 20 or so components from the PCB and test each one, and figure out how to fix it. I also had to learn how to test the components with a multimeter, so I started researching that. I happened across a recommendation for a series of lessons on the Arduino by Paul McWhorter. I'd never heard of Arduino or Paul McWhorter before. As soon as I saw what the lessons were going to cover, I got hooked on the idea of making my own controller, rather than trying to fix the original one. That was a week ago. I'm now up to lesson 20, and I'm taking a sabbatical from the lessons since you've already taught me enough to do my robot project. (Ok, I cheated and jumped to lesson 37 to get the DC motor lesson). I expect to have a test run of the new controller this week. After I tweak it as needed, I think I'll offer it for sale online. There are many replacement parts available for these robots, but the controller board isn't one of them. I don't know how many people try to fix their own pool cleaners, but it could be interesting to see how much interest there is. Thanks for making the classes, I absolutely couldn't have done it without you. If I get this thing going, I'll put a tribute to you on my site, and I'll be a steady patron.

This is just awesome. I followed al 60+ lessons in the new arduino course last year and I loved it. I am now starting my third year in my engineering degree. I really want to beef up my extra curricular skills and as per usual, your courses are better than anything the Uni offers.

Hello sir. First of all, thank you so much for these great tutorials.
I think the 3 advantages of AI to mankind are;
1: Increase the efficiency in all areas we can think of. For example in the future, where all cars are autonomous, there would be no traffic jams because cars can communicate with each other and drive accordingly. (It also prevents traffic accidents due to human mistakes)
2: Since AI doesn't have emotions (at least now) they can make the hard decision for us. For example, wars between countries (NONSENSE).
3: It can help us to understand the universe better by analyzing Footage from space or help to solve some of the mysteries of quantum physics (I don't know how:) ).
The 3 Risks that AI might cause are the other point of view the advantages come with the AI
1: Since AI increases efficiency in all areas many people might lose their jobs and can't earn their living.
2: Since AI doesn't have emotions it can make immoral decisions. For example, an autonomous car would hit a pedestrian just for saving its owner.
3: Maybe someday AI might get too smart and we can live life as in The Matrix.
All in all, I think AI is a good invention of mankind (maybe the best). It will certainly have negative effects on some point but positive sides will be much more. Again, Thank you for these tutorials sir.

Hey, Paul! I'm very excited for this series. I recently finished an internship working for a lab focused on the automation of agricultural tasks, and AI was a recurring topic in their projects. I gained some experience working with OpenCV and training a computer vision model, but I'm sure I'll learn tons from your explanations of this topics. Here are my thoughts on artificial intelligence:
Benefits:
- Security systems that can identify intruder or pests and respond accordingly.
- Streamlined, automated data acquisition such as counting the amount of fruit in a grove to provide more accurate yield prediction in agriculture.
- Advanced gesture interfacing. I saw a video by Zack Freedman using AI to control a wearable display of his and it was amazing!
Risks:
- Slanderous machination of just about anyone with the use of deepfakes. Misinformation is already rampant today and this would be detrimental unless everyone had a solid understanding of the potential of this technology.
- Automation will drive out the need for human labor in many areas, rendering those individuals redundant.
- More effective manipulation of individuals. Social media sites are already gathering tons of data from each user to tailor the content provided in order to maximize time spent on these platforms. As AI gets better at understanding the inputs and outputs of human behavior online it gains the ability to control us more effectively.
In my opinion artificial intelligence is a field with the potential for so many great developments that will increase our quality of life in the upcoming years. We should not scare away from the idea of it because of the foreseeable challenges ahead (and those we don't see yet!), as I am sure that counter-measures, required regulation, and etiquette will come as it becomes a more integral part of our lives (like the internet). The progression of technology is inevitable, we will be better off embracing it, and adapting to it, rather than trying to fight it.

1) Amazon grocery store seems really ground breaking.

3) Steps to easier automated life. Cars with 2 key fobs often have memory. When person "A" hits unlock; the seat, mirrors, radio.. automatically adjust to where person "A" left the settings. And the same thing happens for person "B" with the second key fob. So imagine what smart homes with ring door bells could do with this AI!

Support for humans, some AI is already taking care of schedules, helping to turn some switches on and off, and could go as far as helping with more physical tasks.
Disadvantages:
Loss of jobs, especially in transportation and sales, seem in shops where most companies are trying to transition from humans to robots.
Could be used as a weapon, as people hungry for mad power can harness its potentials to hurt people, like giving AI the ability to decide who lives and who dies, this is not the doing of AI but by the people who create, train and give it such tasks.
Overall AI will enhance the human experience and help with loads of problems, like processing data quickly and having an additional set of hands to help. Personally, I love AI and am looking forward to the amazing things it will help us achieve.
Yep, and the USA is weaponizing them a lot and has. Darpa project OFFSET and project OVERLORD, and the older technologies that are less violent like auto AA and ABM technologies. Greater chances we will do that even more due to the USA's extreme predicted ineffectiveness and lack of capable power, tactics and tech to operate in WW3 against the developing Russia-China alliance (even though no one would win that war no matter what). Make drones control nuclear assets and we are all done.
Not the place to bring this up but we all need people thinking up ways to prevent and deter war, and it all starts with us.

I) Bad people can use it for destruction
ii) AI itself can become evil and take over humanity
iii) If there is a mistake in the coding of AI, it can be dangerous
Moreover, I think AI is a great resource if used carefully and constructively.

I have always found it funny how easy it is to get into new subjects after watching your videos. it's truly an art. I tried by myself to get into Arduino years ago but I couldn't, until I found you, my first teacher and probably the best teacher. Now after learning Arduino and raspberry pi I am ready to tackle artificial intelligence. I'm sure this will be a piece of cake with you teaching again.

Thank you for being such a good teacher for us. I'm not sure if I'm alone in this or others can testify similarly, but I'm here because you really know how to teach. I feel better seeing that I can do it, I can keep up, etc. Teaching it's a gift and you have it.
Now the list of pros and cons:
1) AI can be used to assist in trials, as "Judges". Because AI is strictly about being impartial, non-emotional, all-rational. So AI can be used in Courts.
2) AI can be used in politics to eliminate the politicians. Again, because being un-biased, non-partisan etc.
3) AI can be used to keep our minds sharp as we age. They could help us improve our memory, retain more and generally still staying sharp.
There you go. A nice way to get rid of the most undesired people: politicians, biased and partisan judges, doctors who stuff us with pills so they can get their share, etc.
Cons:
1) As they mimic more and more human traits it will become harder to draw a line.
2) Since they learn and "think", I wonder if it becomes possible to see us humans as "obsolete" and turn on us.
3) We rely too much on their "expertise". We use them in simulations, predictions, future possible outcomes, etc. What if a flaw is there and throws everything off?
Final thought: Can we incorporate all the gadgets we accumulated in one final Grand Finale? We can use the Elegoo car robot, to which we attach one Rpi v.2 camera, and we send this little guy to find our pretrained models (images/pics of monkeys, dogs, cats) and/or intruders making use of face recognition and if these objects/pets/intruders are in a certain area this should trigger certain relays on Arduino which will close doors/windows turn on lights, issue verbal or sound warnings, etc.

Hello professor. You may not remember me. My name is Patrick dixon. You are my professor at Devry arizona. Anyway I'm currently following your python lessons I think I'm on like less than eight. I also do a few of your Arduino lessons. Thank you for this AI series. It really is my field of interest. The top three benefits for society I think, are helping with medicine place space exploration and global warming. One thing I'm really concerned about, is it as computers become more aware how content they'll be in their role with us. I think he only solution we really have is to create a symbiotic relationship. Also I'm concerned about us losing our creativity. Finally I think we should have some kind of morality panel is there many moral issues that do not seem to be addressed only the ability to create technology.

I think the single biggest problem with AI is a continuation of the process of people abandoning thinking and taking responsibility, e.g. self driving cars. Its not that having machinery being able to do things for us that is the issue, but that in that process, we manage to avoid responsibility for the outcomes. For example, AI can make things potentially so much safer e.g. rescue from dangerous environments, but it seems to me that every time we have such an advance there is a concomitant decrease in taking responsibility for having created the problem subsequently solved and we get fixated on solving problems rather than on preventing problems.

When I saw the part of your demo where the head, arms, and hands were wireframed, I got excited. It's a small step from that to interacting with a completely virtual environment, which they do these days by wearing a 3D helmet so you feel like you're inside the VR. Alternatively, this could be used to interact with games on the computer screen. So your wireframe Avatar could pick up something in the game and use it in the game, as you act it out in front of the camera. Of course the 'wireframe' could be replaced with any type of body and armor you want. It used to be that to get this kind of virtual wireframe, you had to wear a body suit covered with sensors.
Michael, I have thought about that as well. I could create an entire math/science/engineering curriculum for high schoolers and college students, free of charge for the whole world. I greatly appreciate those who are helping, but sometimes can not help but dream of what could be done if everyone just helped a little. Thanks!

A few weeks ago my little robot pool cleaner quit working. I had one basic electronics course in 1986, but I never did anything with electronics after that. But I got the idea that if I could teach myself to solder, I could remove the 20 or so components from the PCB and test each one, and figure out how to fix it. I also had to learn how to test the components with a multimeter, so I started researching that. I happened across a recommendation for a series of lessons on the Arduino by Paul McWhorter. I'd never heard of Arduino or Paul McWhorter before.
As soon as I saw what the lessons were going to cover, I got hooked on the idea of making my own controller, rather than trying to fix the original one. That was a week ago. I'm now up to lesson 20, and I'm taking a sabbatical from the lessons since you've already taught me enough to do my robot project. (Ok, I cheated and jumped to lesson 37 to get the DC motor lesson).
I expect to have a test run of the new controller this week. After I tweak it as needed, I think I'll offer it for sale online. There are many replacement parts available for these robots, but the controller board isn't one of them. I don't know how many people try to fix their own pool cleaners, but it could be interesting to see how much interest there is.
