Q: I cant switch between Legacy/CSM and UEFI or switching didn't help.
A: If you cannot find how to switch the setting in BIOS or if switching did not help, then reinstall the Operating System.

If Windows does not install, perhaps your Hard Drive (HDD) is bad. I would then replace it and try the install again.

Hi PCM... my Acer Aspire M shows the logo, then reaches 'working updates 99% complete Don't turn off computer'... it freezes! I've pressing esc, and f2, to no avail. I even detached battery and pressed the power button to rid of static...? Again, no luck. Where am I going wrong? Thx, RC

My God, you fixed it for me. I was there for ages, with it stuck on the logo. It was just an external hard drive my son had left on. Once I unplugged that, it started straight up. Sometimes the simple things we miss...Thanks for making me think,lol

Ive dried doing the comand fix and when i put “c:” or “d:” it doesnt have the same thing as them and it never finishes the restart either with deleting everything or keeping my stuff it fails

Wow that may have worked. I followed the video for removing a hard drive. My aspire hard drive was removed by pulling on a piece of plastic. I then tried to turn it on, and it didn't at all, so I was scared. Then it did, and is doing a diagnosis. Before it would stay on for only 3 seconds. Thank you. Very helpful

@d7j6f1001 Rae If the old drive is bad, you may not be able to get any data off :( Try hooking up to another working computer with an external drive link. See if you can that way. If not, try bringing it to a repair shop. Sometimes we can :)

Maybe I misunderstood what you said, but if I suspect the hard drive I would use a bootable USB to confirm the hard drive was the problem, before I would reinstall the OS. You have some great videos. Thanks.

I have acer. It freeze randomly. Sometimes it freeze after startup and sometimes it strucks before acer logo. If i restart immediately after freezing, it will freeze again, before logo. If i don't use my pc after freezing for a long time, then it will run long time without freezing. This problem comes after when i changed my os from 32 bit to 64 bit. Does that software chage cause problem? Or any hardware problems? Help me

I have an acer EC-885 pc. It was showing a boot error so I followed your guidance and went into bios legacy csm and switched to ‘always’. Now it gets stuck on startup. I see the acer logo, then get a blank screen and then back to acer. It now won’t let me access bios. Any ideas?

Hi PC Monkey, great series of vids regarding PC issues, thanks ! Am in Australian and have been given an ACER M3-MA50. Was working OK till I tried to do some 'clever' things and it then failed to boot properly. I went through your CZcams suggested list, reseated HDD, check time settings etc in BIOS, etc. Finally decided to reload WIN10 64bit via your link to USB boot load option. This seemed to load OK but on removing the USB at end of the process and restarting the PC its is permanently stuck on the ACER logo screen with constant 'Getting Ready' message and moving whirl. Have not reset bios to make book from HDD yet, but USB is out. all help appreciated !
Have previous to this seen DPC watchdog message but not since I reinstalled WIN10
Perhaps the install wasnt 100% done or failed to take. I would try the install again. If it still fails, you may be looking at a bad HDD. I'd next try replacing it

I've got hold of an old Acer Aspire 8920, which can't find an OS by itself - and (when I boot from a Linux USB stick) restarts as soon as the OS starts running & desktop appears. Is this a hard drive problem again?
The UEFI option isn't there in the boot priority
Also, I tried a "frugal install" of MX linux from USB - the error was "No suitable devices found" - seems to have found an SDA1 , but with only 20Mb free...

Great video! Thank you. My son's computer was having this issue and I went through all the steps you laid out. I got to the part where you are to check the hard drive and am now completely baffled! There is no hard drive in the computer! The area where is goes is empty! Is there an alternative hard drive format and location than the giant pocket beside the disk drive?

As far as I know, this motherboard does not have a eMMC drive integrated into it. So you would need a Hard Drive. I could be wrong though.
However, if im correct, you found the reason for the error. Theres no HDD lol

I have a Toshiba Satellite (E45-B4106) that the battery was going. I replaced the battery with a genuine Toshiba battery, exactly the same. When I turn on the computer it gets stuck on the Toshiba screen. When I put in the old battery, and switch it while the computer is on (plugged in) it does not detect the battery. I tried all the basics- resetting the power, holding the power button down, uninstalling the battery in device manager but nothing helped. I had replaced my hard drive to SSD a few months ago, so that should not be an issue. What do you advise?

My aspire does not have Legacy - CSM or UEFI - It has EFI. Date/Time is correct. I finally broke down and took it in to have the files pulled from the computer. It belongs to a friend so I couldn't chance wiping all that out. Great videos, though. You don't mess around, get right to the point!

I have 3 hard drives. 2 SSDs and an HDD. Windows is installed on the stock SSD that came with my Acer Nitro 7. I’ve tried removing this SSD and installing windows via a USB Boot stick onto one of the other hard drives, but the laptop never progresses past the Acer logo. It boots to the usb, let’s me choose to install 64 or 32 bit, then hangs on the Acer boot screen after the loading files window closes.
I’ve also tried resetting CMOS, switching RAM, trying different combos of my hard drives. Can not get this fixed.

Pc Monkey, I have an Acer Aspire One 1-431, now i have reinstalled windows 10 with issues addressed in all you videos. however, it still gets stuck at logo, but I can restart it and works fine, it losses time over night, there are no backup battery that i can find. can it be that the battery is at fault here? even though i fix the time. and its correct, it still hangs at logo. every time I first start it up. like i said, i can restart and it works fine. Please inform your diagnoses.
I was able to disable UEFI and it booted up. What causes something like that to change all of a sudden? Also are there any changes to my computer that would impact performance when that setting is changed?
Sometimes BIOS looses power for a moment, causing some settings to reset / change. Usually should not be a problem as long as it does not repeat. If it happens more frequently, you should consider replacing the CMOS battery as it may be failing.
No, nothing should be affected negatively by having the correct setting in BIOS selected :)

Hi! I had this issue 2 months ago, did a bunch of diagnostics (checked the ram, reinstalled windows) then it became more evident it was likely the hard drive (it changed to the blue screen of death). I sent my laptop away to acer and they apparently replaced the hard drive and it seemed to work fine for a week and a half but now it's back to the acer loading loop... If my hard drive was just replaced, what could be the issue? I'm at a loss. I just sent the thing away and it's back to where I was 😞

Hi: So I changed my BIOS setting from UEFI to Legacy and then when I reboot, it got a different error message saying "No Bootable Device Insert Boot Disk And Press Any Key"...what do I do now?

Thank you so much, I set it to legacy bios and when it entered the boot loop again, it said press f2 to enter setup. When I did that, it told me I had no bootable USB. I’m going to create a bootable USB for windows 10 and try and boot into that. Thanks!

Hi! So I’ve spent all morning trying to fix my Acer laptop. The Acer screen comes on and freezes for a while and finally goes to a blue recovery page that says: your PC needs to be repaired with Enter, F1, F8, ESC options. I’ve followed all your tips and nothing seems to work so far. It worked fine just last week. I don’t care to buy a new one but I have saved files that I definitely need to transfer over. Would installing a new hard drive delete all my saved files? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No. Your files are saved to the HDD. So installing a new HDD would not erase your DATA on the old HDD assuming its still good :)
Hi, I was searching for some infos about a problem that I'm facing in my Acer Aspire 5750.. After a power off by software (W7, W10 or Ubuntu, doesn't matter), if power supply is connected, it turns off and turns on by itself.. If it is only on battery, works perfectly.. If power supply is connected and I press and hold power button, it turns off and do not turns on.. I've never seen this error.. Did you? Have an idea what's wrong? Thanks a lot for your time.. Hi...Acer aspire 5520. Computer boots up fine however will shut off ok, but the restart doesn't work. With a restart called for, it shuts down but doesn't restart, screen just sits there with the power button lit forever. Doesn't seem to be a Windows problem as the same thing occurs with Linux OS. Perhaps a motherboard problem? Perhaps a BIOS problem? Any clue you could offer would be great!....THANKS

it's literally turning on, black screen and laptop fan stops spinning after 10 seconds. when i plug an external monitor in, it says it's detecting signal, but also black screen. could you help me?
I had this issue for the first time today and had just found your video - however just as I was about to start following your instructions, my laptop (Nitro 5 ) decided to finish booting, got past the Acer logo screen and I was able to put my password in. I found that on the desktop there was a window open which was a Clock/Focus Session(?) which I hadn't seen before, so I think something to do with this caused the problem as I had never seen it before. Probably another Windows update :( So I went online and checked it, then found advice to uninstall the Windows Clock app which I have also done. This does not affect the laptop's clock which still displays the correct time in the bottom right corner. I hope this prevents the issue from happening again!

Thank you, you video helped me realize my Acer Insyde bios updated and changed my achi settings causing a boot loop. Updated to achi (hidden option) and saved.
