- Hot Wheels Unleashed has been out for more than a year now! I've decided to revisit the game to check and see how is it doing so far in late 2022. Loads of things have changed from launched, therefore this is sort of like a "one year later" mini review as well.

Imagine if this game blew up out of nowhere and we got more acceleracers content. Such as new tracks added songs from the movie and of course more cars! Then the new people coming in to play this game will see all of the acceleracers stuff, and probably get curious about it. Boom there we go more acceleracers fans, more fans equals Mattel noticing, Mattel noticing equals hopefully another movie to finally finish the series!

I really love this game. It's a bit harder than other racers but it's a must try. Maps are huge
Hwu NEEDS a full acceleracers expansion (preferably free) with a ton of tracks and backgrounds.

Let me just say how it was unleashed has been a very fun game so far and I love the track models that the creators gave us which makes things a whole lot interesting and I haven't even seen a single player that made an f zero map in years like an old traditional f-zero map like mute City and even so for many people they've never created childhood racing areas from even from the Nintendo 64
I really hope they add more content to this game, even if it's just another free update car labeled as "SECRET." I've been playing this game on my Switch since launch and I really love it to death.

I'm not a fan of the *Spider Ambush* in all honesty; it's like getting Blue Shell'd in Mario Kart, but it only appears on 20% of tracks in general, so it can't stop you all the time
They are annoying nonetheless
I found that he easiest way to avoid them is to point your nose onto the barrier, that way the web shoots outside of the track

@@NOT-A-Monolith it takes a while to learn but yes - again the easiest and most reliable way is point your nose on the barrier and the spider will shoot out of bounds lol
Its easy to dodge it aims at where you are going as you approach change direction to bait the web.
I think is fun annoying but fun makes me want to trow my controler at my brother
About the content update, it has been alredy confirmed that there won't be more content drops. Just small patches every few months.
Unfortunately it looks like the game wasn't successful for Mattel.

What?! Oh I am LIVID! I spent $90 on a game that I thought would just grow and grow and grow. I mean, it's Hot Wheels.... The possibilities are literally endless!.. There's so many more modules that they could add, track pieces, track colors, Hot Wheels cars, basement themes/ decor etc. UGHHH! 😔
+ the tracks have all the same driving style. it's repetitive and boring. glad i never wasted money buying this crap game. if it was more like 2007's hw beat that then it would've been a better game.

I haven't played Hot Wheels Unleashed in a while myself. I bought the game on the PS5 but recently I started playing it again on PC with the PC Game Pass.
Like when I was a kid , I remember having a hot wheels game .There was a battle game mode where you would destroy the other cars with machine gun / rocket lauchers.There where also wheel power-ups like steel nail wheels etc.Imagime my dissaray when I dwnld this thinking I'm goong to have something like that and get this. I mean it's okay but could of been so much more.
If they add small updates like just more multiplayer stuff to help us that would be great.

Hotwheels Unleashed needs to add some more realistic cars like the 66-67 Pontiac GTO, 68 Beaumont SD, 70 Chevelle SS, 69 Camaro, 69 Nova, 67 Ford F100, 65 Ford Galaxie, 65 Pontiac Bonneville, 65 Mustang, 70 Cuda, 70 Challenger, and a 69 Pontiac grand prix SJ.

The real issue is easy is too easy and medium is hard.
Not on the time trials. They are still rock hard
Easy is full baby mode and medium is pretty good on most tracks, but very difficult on other tracks. The difficulty curve is annoying.
Easy mode is a no touch for me.
Normal mode is well a little too easy like maybe 1 car might keep up with you somewhat.
Hard mode is kinda stupid where like 3 or 4 cars are fast af and basically feels like they got infinite boost.
Ultimate mode is straight stupid where almost every car is fast as hell all cars passing you even the garbage truck.

The game harder and the AI always becomes better the higher payout .
But go back on ultimate on the first few trucks you'll learn new tricks

It just feels like there wasn't enough content. I wasn't even halfway through it, but it seemed like I saw every single car in the game through the loot boxes. Not to mention the races got a little stale, even with the whole medium difficulty issue. No power ups anywhere to spice up the races and it feels like most other hot wheels game before had them
True that. It got stale after some time and it needed some ne gameplay additions to keep the spice going

They need to stop releasing paid dlc. Thats the only reason i feel the game is still being supported. We want genuine QOL features and improvements such as downloadable custom tracks with AI support. Among more things. I get they are a buisness but the paid stuff needs to stop for a while until they can improve the actual game!

they game died as soon as the abandoned it. this game will slowly fade in nothingness in a few years just give it time, people will forget it was even remotly good.
Crossplay only applies to pickup games. Not private matches🚩🚩🚩

yeah devs did this just to make a quick buck. the game was never made in favor of the hotwheels fanbase, it was made so the publisher could make a bunch money and screw us over.

@@TheViperian I very much agree with you in the AI racers front. Especially in replay mode I just imagine the content to play by play. Honestly the nostalgia of Hot Wheels isn’t just the cars and tracks but making up the stories. And watching the races play out
HWU came to the gamepass recently and before that on the plus games of the month so that a little good since the online is little dead

In my opinion I don't think the game did all that well when it could've done so much better. For me, I was excited when I saw the game come out. When I found out it was going to have season passes with a sort of battle pass like thing I was dubious of it but thought "well, hey, if it has Hotwheels content I like then maybe I'll engage with it, and that would be cool because it would give me a long term interest in it." ... and then it was Marvel. I don't dislike marvel, but it felt wildly out of place. But ok, maybe they'll have something more general next battle pass. Nope, every single one was some other IP just putting on a Hotwheels skin. Each one that came out actually disincentivize me further from having continued interest in the game. It made the battle passes feel like corporate shilling to IP's. Why couldn't they have done one single pass for just Hotwheels? Like a future tech run, a super cars run, an Off-Road run, or a rat rod run? I think it would've made a lot more people engaged and happy if they had at least alternated each battle pass between a solely Hotwheels themed pass and one with an outside IP.
As much as the base game is good I have been made to believe it will never get much, if any, new content I care about.

I ended up buying it in the end, for 13 bucks, not too bad. Contains every dlc in the game with the exception of a few limited cars unobtainable now from some limited event according to some review a guy mentioned.

I should make a vid about Unleashed's state. It's been 2 months without any update. The game's is just dead. Whoever plays it congrats but the devs went to the "Ea Way" and made it much dead. Dlc content is just horrible. Does anyone actually know the real source of the devs announcing the game won't get updates?
I'm also wondering if the game will get updates and more DLC but from what I've researched, it doesn't look good at all.. Like they've just given up on the game entirely.. It's a shame too cause the possibilities are almost endless! Imagine how many cars / track pieces / room decor that could be added. 1,000's.. I'm a little po'd knowing I've spent $90 + in the beginning, on a game that's been abandoned.

The dlc cars you buy are never in the shop section to buy them again with coins.
90% of the cars are character/ fantasy vehicles.
There hasn't been new content in a while.
The $30 dlc takes about 1 - 2 hours to complete.. (If not sooner than that)
There's no way to upgrade specific stats. All cars have premade stats and that is VERY unfortunate.
If they made it to where you could upgrade individual stats, it would be a good use for coins and gears. I'm pretty sure I speak for many of us - we have TONS of coins and gears with nothing to spend them on...
More than half the personal made tracks online suck to race on.

I loved the game from the start but now starting to dislike cause of the Hard Time Trails in the very end of the game on Career Mode! Very hard to get pass them so I have to give up!
games like this is why Hot wheels have failed to maintain a stable video game Genre, Devs don't seems to think hot wheels is worth a lot of money.

Why would you work on such a beautiful game and get it to almost perfect, and then just give up and move on? This game could be updated for 5-10 more years easily if they just put a little more effort in. Hopefully, going on gamepass boosts the numbers where they put a little more work into the game.

I'm watching this in 2023 and want to share my experience with the game back when it was released.
At the time, i only had a regular xbox one so seeing them support old gen was fantastic and given i have played HW Beat That on my old DS a lot, this game was a must buy for me one way or the other. 2 weeks after release, i bit the bullet and bought it digital. Soon enough, i was really enjoying the game though there were some caviats...
Winning Formula i believe it's called (?), Whenever i tried changing it's livery, the game randomly chrashed wich is a bummer but no deal breaker. Luckily, this wasn't An issue with 24 ours, to wich i was busy making a replica livery on from a real life protoype style racecar i had the pleasure of seeing IRL. My project was well underway and was in it's final stages...
Then, on day 4 of owning the game... I tried logging in but upon loading into the main menu, the game chrashed... No worries, i try again... Game chrashes. 2 times is suspicious enough so i go ahead and delete/reinstall the game... Still not fixed.
The game essentially hardlocked me playing it and i was done with HWU. I immediately asked for a refund and, luckily, got my money back. To this day, this has left a very sour taste in my mouth and i discredit everything positive about it. After all, what's the point if you have a critical issue like this ? From that Point on, i always hoped for a free 2 play weekend to come around on xbox to see if a future patch has fixed this but i was left hanging.
Now, almost 1,5 years later and i own a series X now. I just saw HWU being 80% off for the next week or 2... Do i bury the axe for this one time and hope for the best ?
If u are a hot wheels fan, its a pretty solid game to hop into again. But I'm not sure if multiplayer is active or not now
@@TheViperian jumping because of nostalgia with hot Wheels isn't really what's stopping me. It's the fear of not knowing if the issue i had on One is unresolved. There's a good chance it is but i have no idea

What dlc you brought? If you brought the batman expansion or the looney tunes expansion you just go to the main game and scroll down the map until you get to it and then start it
