- If you've had a (literal) fender bender, the replacements can be had for cheap and can be done in about a half hour. This will save you a lot, even if you take it to a pro for paint. In my case, I just plasti dipped it to match!
This should be similar for e9x BMWs and probably others. 3 Series 2007+.

You sir are a legend. Uses your idea for doing the bolt inside the car. Saved me lots of time and effort.
Great tutorial--thanks for making this. Also, that is an excellent tip on using three small zip ties when you lose the center of those fasteners--I wish I knew this one years ago!
GREATLY appreciated! Your video saved me over a $100. I'll subscribe to your channel
Excellent video
thank you so much for sharing this! you gave me the confidence to DIY! now that i've seen you do it, doesn't make much sense to me to pay someone else to do it for hundreds of dollars. some idiot side swiped me a week after i purchased my 335i n54. replacing with M3 style fenders. thanks again!
Awesome! I love when people start doing diy. It's very doable and if you like the work, who knows, maybe in a while, you're doing engine swaps!
That's man. Good video
Thank you for posting this. I am new to working on cars and there were a couple of wrenches (or wrench attachments) you used and I was wondering their exact names? Specifically the one you used for the last of 4 bolts on the top closest to the hood hinge? 2nd wrench that looked like it had an extension piece (you taped it) and a third one. Additionally, are there any Canadians who can comment on any good places to get 2010 (or 2007-2011 BMW 3 series) parts) specifically in the London or southwestern Ontario area? Thanks again and in advance for any help.
Did you add that bracket and drill new hole in the fender? I've been working on my wife's 2012 e93 (bmw 328i conv) and reinstalling rf fender is driving me $#@%$@ nuts. I can not even visualize how the factory robot could install that bottom bolt with that res in the way. Thank you for making the video BTW . Your instructions are to the point and I truly appreciate this. Many lesser videos tell us about the multiverse and string theory when you only asked what time is it. The irony does not escape me that i complimented you for being direct in a very long winded manor.
Appreciate it! For the bracket, I just flipped it around so the bolt would face the door side like the upper one. Yeah it seemed crazy as they designed it. I used a little electrical tape to hold it in position while I lined up the bolt to get it started.
I'm getting ready to do mine today. Even though I've done fender changes in the past, this was a very helpful tutorial, thank you. Previous owner had a fender bender and did a really sh..ty job putting everything back together. The top bolt behind the door is loose, looks like I'll have fun removing it, I'm preparing for other surprises. You've done a beautiful job with plastidip, I love the color. I wonder if you did it yourself or a shop did it. I have a 2008 E90 which I plasidipped myself about 7 years ago, still holding up well, thinking about doing this one (2007 E92) in the Spring. Sending best!
Yep, did it myself. I've done about 4 cars now and enjoy the process. This is the blue quartz color (a blue metallic premix) from dipyourcar.com. especially when just washed, it does turn heads! Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
I'll be doing this Tomorrow.. great idea about reversing that bottom bolt!! Cheers buddy!!
That bottom bolt is already the correct way on my vehicle. Not sure what the heck happened with his.
Interesting. Maybe I have an early build and they changed it (June 2007). Definitely never been off before, the factory seam sealer was over the front bolt. Same situation on both sides but the driver side is easy due to no washer fluid reservoir.
@@OGPedXing I recall doing the driver side, I had an original paint OEM fender and the bolt was accessible from the open door. I COULD be loopy and be wrong, ill check the passenger side tomorrow; because that would be interesting considering mine is production date May 08' .
@@OGPedXing I stand corrected, My bolt is also on the inside of the fender. Currently changing the fender since I have a new one painted ready to go, and flipping that screw over. Although with my bad luck... The lower screw at 4:50 is spinning with the bottom u-clip and my hands are too big to fit 2 tools in there to hold the clip still. Seems like my only option is a 10mm flex head ratcheting wrench with some sort of needle nose to hold the u-clip from spinning. Then I look at my phone; severe weather alert for tomorrow... extreme winds and rain. What a pain haha.
@@willjay9808 I was lucky and didn't have to do this but you can loosen the bottom rocker trim which may help get to that lower bolt. The trim is held on by several plastic screws if I remember correctly. If you take out about the first couple it will let you move it back for better access.
Good job! Where do recommend getting replacement fenders?
I got this set from carparts.com, not sponsored but seemed decent.
Wheres the front part of removing? The bracket issue and metal plate location?
There's a bracket under the plastic wheel liner right where the fender meeting the bumper section. It's a little annoying to get to without taking out the liner, but you can do it.
What is the screw on the right at 3:15 called? I have lost mine and need to buy some.
I think the longer one is the fender screw, part number 07143428231. The shorter ones are the liner screws
how was your experience dipping it?
The fender was super easy, the whole car...not so much. The main things that were annoying were the window trim which are a pain to remove or tape off cleanly and the door handles. I've learned since that the 335 door handles pop off easily, lol. Should have done that to get better coverage behind the handles. But got it done. I also did an Acura MDX SUV and that was easy, no issues. My Miata was also easy since it's so small. I used a gloss top coat which is more difficult to spray but it looks decent. I recommend that first timers stick with matte dip, it's normally very forgiving and easy.
Bro it’s a whole different case for the e92, took me well over 3 hrs to replace mine
Wow, that sux. Thanks for letting me know!
Can anyone verify if the E90 4 door fenders fit the E92 coupe? Non-M models.
The coupes and coupe convertible have the same part number but it's different from the e90 part number. So looks like no.
@@OGPedXing yeah I just noticed the difference or at least one of them from e90 to e92. The E92 has two bolts at the bottom that connects to the skirt and E90 doesn’t.
Paint or wrap ?
Plastidip actually! It's sprayed on like paint using fairly cheap equipment but does not harm the oem paint underneath and peels off in big sheets if you want a change.
If this took you 14 minutes in a video, it will take me at least 2 hours in real life 🤌🏻
