@Bridgette Dallas Davis...unfortunately, I think Jody got derailed before she even got started because everyone said "Looking For A New Love" was a copy of Janet's "What Have You Done For Me Lately". I didn't see it...but I think that really hurt Jody's momentum out of the gate. Maybe if that would've been the 3rd or 4th single off the album it would've turned out different. Real shame, though. I think Jody could smoke 99.9% of today's female "artists".

My late Dad is a Alto Saxaphone player. This song permeates my soul. My Dad and I used to have jam sessions with the music I wrote in the 80's. It was cool to listen and watch my late Father learn the Christian music I composed.
Woke up with this jam on my mind this morning. I remember her doing a BET interview for her debut album. Dude asked her why there was no slow jams on her album just one banger after another. Jody replied it was done on purpose & that she wanted her 1st album to just go 100 mph. She said there would be plenty of time for slow jams. We had to wait a while...but this gem was DEFINITELY worth the wait.

Jody Watley. This is what I’m saying. Right here this music right here. Was beautiful. She put her heart and soul into the song. This is real R&B music and real music like this made so much sense. Because it was truly from the heart and soul. The music of today does not bring that the way music in the 80s did such various singers like Jody Watley, and even Karen White. Best female singers. If you ask me. Of the 80s. That I enjoyed and that I grew up listening to. I love this song. It’s so sweet, thank you Jody Watley. We enjoy your music. And plus you’re beautiful :-) 3:49

Got this on repeat right na.😔 One of my favorite songs! Just beautifully written and sang! Luv Jody Watley 🎶🎼🎤❤
Was listening to Howard Hewitt and remembered this was my jam. In 1989 I was only 14 but I knew it was deep. A few relationships later at 44 it’s even more meaningful
Hey we were born around the same time! I was born 1977, sounds like you were born 1976. How lucky we are to experience those days!
