First Cadillac I ever rode in. It was a triple white with a sunroof and the d’elegance package. Belonged to a neighbor. It truly was a living room on wheels. I remember vividly to this day despite being a child. Loved that steering wheel. It was the ultimate car at that time.

Truly the LAST luxury car from GM. You felt like you were in a living room. They kept that car for 10 yrs in a garage because my folks couldn't get rid of it for sentimental reasons. Wish I still had one today!

I remember my parents having his and hers of this car and they both sat in our circular driveway! I had to take my driving test in one… no way to really parallel park between those cones! I got as far in as I could without hitting one and passed though!! I have to admit I really didn’t appreciate the cars back then because I wanted at least one of them to be the sexy Cadillac Eldorado! Still dreaming of the ‘76 mat blue Eldo convertible! Lol! This is a beautiful car though! My parents were/are beautiful and fun though. Being Texas in the 70’s I cruised around on my 1978 Suzuki RM. Those were the days! The cars would not fit in a modern garage and I would arrested by the time I rode out of the garage on that noisy dirt bike in Dallas today. 😄😄😄❤️❤️❤️

Yes, it is a huge car, but IF only GM can revive and upgrade its suspension, steering feel, and have an eight or ten speed automatic transmission among incorporating many other modern engine and electronic technology we have today to improve fuel efficiency, etc. and turn it into a perfect modern sedan.

My grandmother owned this exact model in triple white. No spoke wheel covers or chrome trim above the grill. I bought it from a cousin that bought it from my grandparents when they were going to trade it in and kept it for about 5 years. Still kicking myself for ever letting it go in the early 2000’s. When this beauty rolled down the highway people rubber necked to see if they could see who was in the back seat as if they were hoping for a glimpse of a movie star or high ranking politician. It was used in many parades and borrowed for weddings. One of its last trips was to carry the pallbearers for my grandfathers funeral. Would seriously love to have it back.

The wire wheel covers are a retro upgrade. Cadillac didn't introduce them until the 77 or 78 model year but lots of people thought they were cool and put them on prior year models. Personally I liked the stock wheel covers, especially if they were veined and had the black lacquer centers. Don't care for the chrome accent above the grille either... @Sonny Haskins design-wise there were some good ones, like this Brougham. But on the whole, the 70’s were a low point for quality, including Cadillac. GM in particular began cost cutting in the late 60’s, and continued this practice right into the ground. And it almost killed them, when import competition was strong, the economy was weak, and nobody was buying GM’s bean counter bullshit anymore.

I thought I heard him say "nice little car". And I'm not the only one either. I had a 1972 Chrysler Newport, four door sedan. It wasn't quite as big as this car, but it was still huge. I called "Mabel" my two bedroom sedan; my four wheel barge.

    1976 Fleetwood Brougham
One of the best Cadillacs ever made, back then most popular color combo was the Red with white top and white interior.
1976 Sedan deville did not have the pillar in between side doors
The Fleetwood had the leather vinyl padding roof which wrapped around rear glass window it was much more appealing than the sedan deville.
Cadillac should duplicate this model in the future. I remember driving in one in the late 1970s sitting in back seat , It felt like you were floating on a cloud.

    • @stevealexander3764
      @stevealexander3764 Před 4 lety

The base fleetwood roof was not padded all that much. The D'Elegance and Talisman were more padded.

      steve alexander
      You’re right about that
D’elegance and the 1975 Talisman did have much more padding.
The Talisman was made for the 1974/ 1975 model year only. The 1974 had the round headlights with square frame around headlight, The1975 introduced the square headlights which carried on for the 1976 model.
The 1976 only had “Fleetwood Brougham” -Talisman 1976 did not have a d’elegance package.
Fleetwood Talisman came with the crush velour seating, and more padding around rear glass window.

Thats one of the best cadillacs made for sure. However, it should idle smoother than that, looks like its jumping around a bit - watch the wires in video, sounds like a cylinder is missing. These old cars only had up to 100,000 mile odometer then it rolled over again to 0 so it could have 119K miles and read 19k. With 19k miles on it, that engine should idle perfectly smooth.
