When I first started this channel, one of the first skills I learned was to juggle. I did that in around 3 hours and 44 minutes, which I thought was a pretty good time. In this episode Iâve enlisted someone to learn the same skill to compare times with. That person is my wife, Kim. Sheâs usually the one behind the camera, this week we swapped roles! Hope you guys enoy!

I learned to juggle in probably 6 or so hours over a week and I thought I was hot shit and then I taught my girlfriend and she learned in like 45 minutes
It took me like a month and a half or so like half an hour to an hour a day. To be fair I have dyspraxia so that I learned it at all impressed me
But she had you to guide her through. That means u not only learned a skill, but also became good at teaching it.
@@nabila9689 that's a good way to put it
Yeah bro you're just a master teacher
@@godpinch
That's pretty much me atm Ian, still haven't succeeded but am taking about a month and a half. I am autistic so like dyspraxia my fine motor skills aren't the best, it takes a lot for me to learn how to do skills that require very fine motor skills, tying notes, cutting things quickly for dinner, WRITING (oh my god, I share your pain so much there), and of course, juggling. I actually decided to take up juggling to have a daily exercise for my fine motor skills, I know I'll get there eventually.
"Am I that fast at learning? I've enlisted somebody to learn the skill in the same way as I have to compare the times"
2 seconds in: Let me give you advice that I didn't get as I was doing this.
He's probably better at doing research than his wife. Remember for all that this is a straight comparison he still has more experience simply imitating the internet. I assume he found something along those lines on a website when he was trying to learn it himself.
@@lowkey_Ioki sure, but that was still him learning it. the fact that he stepped in and helped kind of skews the results of the experiment because Kim could've researched by herself the same way Mike did, but Mike didn't have someone to show him in person who could see what he needed to improve on
These are fair criticisms. However, realize the exact time doesn't matter due to the influence of luck, the number of days spent, her comfort in front of the camera, her probable inexperience in learning stuff quickly, knowing she has a time to beat (his), her motivations of doing this versus his reasons, etc. Then factor in how different the average human is.
These things are still within a reasonable margin of error. The point of these videos isn't that you can learn how to juggle in 3 hours or 4 hours. It's to show how pure persistence, good training, and self-reflection can make the hardest tasks seem reachable.
And also, he probably doesn't want his wife to struggle as much as he did (even though she probably did).
I think one factor could be that many people (both men and women) have a tendency to treat woman a bit like children, i.e. they don't want them to be challenged too heavily, so they often get additional help.
@@jacobshirley3457 e

How fast can I learn to write a book report on a book I never read?
@@bonniejunk Pretty fast! You wont get a good grade... but it'll be fast!
you're a different kind of master. Master half-asster
I mean let's be real, it's not really mastering. It takes years to master something. I mean you can search master juggler on youtube right now and see dudes juggling anything to razersharp swords, heavy as hell bowling balls and fragile eggs. Actually look up "Michael Davis Ford's Theater", he juggles for Reagan and it's fucking hilarious even today.
I feel like confidence has a positive effect to learning something new.
It's really helpful to show the actual depiction of the "learning curve" Strangely enough many people mention it but never show it. The concept of the dip is good to see as then you can appreciate that it's only a temporary state and that with a bit more practice it'll become satisfying again......and maybe even fun ;)
Do a competition where the 2 of you race to learn something
Thatâs what I thought this video was
