    I don't know about anyone else but this song doesn't sound egotistical at all. It sounds (at least to me) like he was a very happy and trusting person at one point in his life but he was crush and betrayed by people he thought were his friends leaving him only to care for himself. He realized that being overly trusting gets you no where and the only person he needs to care about is himself. Sadly I know how that feels, I bet i'm not the only person who has.

      Okay valid point, but Slipknot have made it, Drowning Pool is still growing so why diss Ryan for carrying on Drowning pool if he can bring forward them and still do what Dave was bringing to metal, Even if Dave is not here to witness it, So I guess my valid point is that Dave legacy is living through Drowning pool with Ryan and the rest of the band, like Slipknot is carrying on and living the legacy of paul.

    • @ananivelchev2956
      @ananivelchev2956 Před 8 lety +57

      They are living the legacy because this was their first album without Gray and he was a key member and co-founder of the band. It's the same with Slayer and Jeff Hanneman, Avenged Sevenfold and The Revand etc.

    Sinner will always be one of my all-time favorite albums. Dave's voice was angelic. Losing him was the end of the Drowning Pool I fell in love with unfortunately. It's like if David Draiman or Serj Tankian or Corey Taylor died, and the bands replaced them with anybody else it just wouldn't be right. If Linkin Park tries to find a new singer it won't be Linkin Park, like the magic is gone. Dave was one of those irreplaceable ones too.

When this song came on our internal speaker on the truck it really helped pacify negative thoughts about things that happened. This is how addicts feel most of the time. They dig themselves into a hole while burning the bridges with their friends and families. When they finally hit rock bottom, there is nobody left to help pull them out so they lash out and blame everyone but themselves. Some of Aaron Lewis' lyrics were like this, and he finally pushed his ego away enough to find out everyone still loved him. They were just waiting on him to start helping himself.

    I’m tearing away. You run away? Faster and faster you can’t seem to get away. Hope there’s a reason. Yes, he’s inside you.
    The message here isn’t in the lyrics, it’s in the understanding of what the words themselves mean to you as someone who has suffered great pain and agony. We must tear away from our self doubt, our fears, our own prison we built in our minds. Know thy self and you can set yourself free. Jesus is the way, he is the light, and you are the one who walks the path. For what good is the door if you know what’s on the other side?
    Choice is yours. Thing is you’ve already made that choice, you have to let go of control in order to be engulfed in your truth. The truth shall set you free.
    I love you. Jesus loves you. We are all here to learn lessons and I believe in every single one of you. God bless.

      you know, man, i know you probably dont care, but thats exactly what i fucking do and exactly what i just did when i listen to this song. a lot of nu metal hits me hard with nostalgia and reminding me of different, better, simpler times, but this song in particular really makes me stop, sit back for a second, and just wish we could rewind life.
      nice comment, brother. i dont know how you pinpointed it, but you did. cheers.
