I've had a red-eared slider "taste" my finger. It hurt a bit. 😆 I was actually removing turtles from a tank to clean it. I removed two at the same time. One had bitten the other and the bitten turtle retaliated by biting me.
Before watching yourvideos I thought turtles were boring pets. but now I know they have a lot of personality. I also got to appreciate mallards a lot, I hope the ducks are still alive somewhere

I'm in MD and found a really cool little Red Eared Slider the other day, about 6inches across the shell. Looks like a predator got ahold of the turtle and it's missing the front left foot. It eats very well, not lethargic, and totally gets around fine. The nub seems pretty much healed. The problem is the Red Eared Slider is invasive to MD and no rescues in the area will take him without just euthanizing him. I also can't keep the turtle. Wish I could get the little guy out there to you so he could go into one of your ponds and live the good life!!!
This is great! We have turtles in our pond out back now, and I would love to feed them to keep them around. Of course, that upsets the natural balance and behavior which is not good, but it’s in a developed, suburban area, so the balance is pretty much destroyed anyway, and I am sure the turtles aren’t doing better because of the development. So, I would like to help them.
man turtles are so cool. i saw one in my yard a few months back. looked like it was headed to a pond that a ways from my house. i've enver seen it in person but the turtle was headed in that direction. I want to pick it up and carry it closer to help it out, but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea so i just watched it without bothering it. making sure at least there weren't any wandering cats or dogs that might try to get it. I never see turtles around here. Just rabbits and squirrels and the occasional stray cat and dog that got loose. The not sure what kind of turtle is was. but the shell was taller than the ones in this video but it was like half the size. it was almost like a grape fruit and shape and size. the shell was black or very dark green/brown i guess. looked like it could be someone's pet that they just let go or something. or maybe it ran away? No idea.
Wish i was in Texas with you to help feed the turtles. I love how soft and gentle you are with them. Guess that's why they call you the fish and turtle whisper.
