    As somebody that has beaten the Torna DLC, I highly recommend people do not play this first, it spoils so many of the good plot twists and eludes to a lot of things that more context is needed. The thing that makes the story in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 work so well is that it slowly peels back what happened in the past. Basically I'm saying that if you play this first, some of the key storytelling elements will not hit as hard. Technically if you play the base game, you know the big key points of what will happen, but there is plenty to see and learn in the past that the base game does not go into (and even goes into more detail on). Though I wished it didn't end so soon (it took me 20 hours). I recommend playing this after beating the main game. This reuses some music in the base game, and sometimes those songs had very important meaning in the main game and are used for other purposes here (which is OK). Really fun DLC, wish there was more.

      I agree, but at the same time it would be a really interesting experience to play Torna first. Instead of being surprised by certain events, you'd understand and be like OH FINALLY

    • @IchHassePasswoerter
      @IchHassePasswoerter Před 6 lety +6

      Chapter 10 intro would still hit like a brick, though. And the fact that Torna is a stand-alone DLC is also a smart marketing strategy. If you get new players interested in the DLC and they play it, they might get a taste for the main game. As an additional incentive, the stand-alone expansion has a key code for the entire expansion pass.

  • @legodawg2001
    @legodawg2001 Před 6 lety +12

    I think my favorite part of Xenoblade 2 Torna the Golden Country is how your party interacts with the community. In XC2 base, your party rarely interacts with the people they are helping (mainly due to the fact that there are multiple party members + and infinite amount of blades) meaning any optional character development is restricted to the Blade Quests (which focus more on the blade than the party) and the Heart-to-hearts. However, in Torna, I was shocked just how integrated the party was. Quests weren't to-do lists. They were actual conversations, amongst people with very different ideals and philosophies. Addam would know several of his subjects, Mythra would always chime in with her sarcasm to how stupid a situation sounds, and it was great! It made the world feel lived in. These weren't just NPCs, they were people that your party knows personally, and wants to help. ON TOP OF THAT, most quests would end with a last conversation with just the party addressing the lore of the world, character development, and/or the themes the game is trying to explore. One time after building a shelter for the Tornan Capital, Lora has a private chat with Haze and Jin about wanting to build a house to support war orphans, and Haze says it will be like they have a big family. Another time, when trying to play matchmaker, the guys of the party start teasing Hugo about being the age to start dating. Another time, Minoth and Jin have a conversation about atoning for the past, especially from the perspective of a flesh eater, and yet another time Addam and Hugo discuss the incredible pressures of being part of royalty. These (and many more) are optional scenes of incredible development that happen at almost every side quest, and become more and more prevalent as the game progresses. Its absolutely phenomenal, and it made me fall in love and try and do as many quests as I can, and it shows. I'm gonna take on the final boss tomorrow, and I'm at 26 hours.

    My dream is a Pokémon game that takes Xenoblade as an inspiration
    Monsters roaming around (but still separate random encounters in grass maybe just patches that are small or easily avoidable so the player can avoid if they don’t want and can seek out if they do want), vast beautiful land (maybe not too vast that it feels empty), a classic Pokémon adventure with full 3D camera control, a real world to explore with all kinds of Pokémon rare and common, and awesome Legendary encounters (Dungeon dwelling ones, roaming ones, quest based ones)
    Remember the feeling of running around Johto, in a patch of grass you suddenly hear eccentric music as you encounter a Pokémon....it’s a legendary electric tiger looking creature or fire lion looking creature that absolutely awes you
    Imagine that scenario in 3D
    Or climbing the Sky Tower to find an all powerful dragon (Rayquaza) waiting for your challenge.
    Anyway sorry for the geek rant, it’s just this gameplay makes me think of my dream game

    • @MasonOfLife
      @MasonOfLife Před 6 lety +2

      Natural86 Yeah it’s definitely tough....I think it could be possible over time, say after the 2019 games, when they have an engine to work off of, or even later on as they get better at developing for the switch, as they get more employees, as the technology gets more efficient in the development process
      And maybe things work out to where all parties involved understand a delayed game is only delayed temporarily but a bad game released early is bad forever. And that it could be in their best interests to aim for 3 years of development time put into a new Gen or whatever it takes to make the best game

      i tried it. on my vita but it felt a little too immature. Also the cinematics in more modern games really help to pull u in, which xenogears doesn't have. Did u play it recently or year ago when u were younger? I do find a lot of games, like say final fantasy. Are real cool, when your like 8-13. But when u get older, u start to see that they're mostly recycled cliches stolen mainly from the original star wars.

      The only one here I agree with is Xenoblade, and that's specifically with Xenoblade 1, not X or 2. Bioshock was eh, Dragon Age Origins was god awful with it's story, and I never heard of the last two. Also, how was Gears immature? I don't even care much for Xenogears and found it mature and well written.

    • @MrGnuh
      @MrGnuh Před 6 lety

      it's not that hard. it just seems overwhelmingly complicated at first.
      how much did you play?
      for a start. keep checking the top right of the screen and follow the elemental combo. if there's water, use water etc.
      some people thought you'd have to use the opposite element. sadly they don't really explain it ingame.
      when you finished a combo. there will be an elemental orb floating around the enemy. so, next combo you want to end with a different element, to get many orbs on the enemy.
      on long fights you can later break those orbs using the opposite element for massive damage. idk... sucks to explain in plain text. i'm sure you find a tutorial video showing you exactly how.
      it is really really super satisfying to pull of these combos, obliterating some bosses. if you do it right you can pretty much burn them from like 40% hp to 0 with one finisher combo and wake the neighbors. lol

      Octopath is OK. If you're into old school JRPGs, you'd probably like it. The plot's alright, though it ends up looking messy near the end with how everything meshes together, and the characters aren't bad, but they tend to not really have any connection to group them together/ Personally, I'd recommend the Bravely games over Octopath, but Octopath isn't bad by any means.

    I don't agree with your opinion on the Community Lv 4 requirement. You're playing an JRPG. If you're npt doing sidequests along the way (and I'm not saying you have to do everything) you're playing it wrong, I'm sorry. It's better to do sidequests and unlock the blades' Affinity charts to grow and explore instead of mindless grinding. If you do everything before the requirement comes up, you're basically at Lv 3. Thus, the ending is behind 1-2 hours of more sidequests which at that point you are at a high level and don't need to grind or explore at all. Plus, all the sidequests you get from Auresco, the capital of Torna have many dialogues between the party (effectively removing the need of Hearts-to-hearts to see the interactions of the party).
