And then comes Season 3, where Rick destroys the Galactic government and cripples the Council of Ricks in a day, and primarily out of spite. You really have to wonder how many of those atrocities happened because Rick wasn't putting in the effort.

This scene is good because it puts beths problems and issues in perspective. Beth is trying to win sympathy from strangers instead of enjoying life while bird person is very clearly telling her (in a very kind, drunk way) that her problems are nothing. Hes telling her that no one here would care about her missing her dad and that they've all experienced and lost far more than she ever has. He doesnt let her have a single ounce of sympathy where anyone else would say "That so sad, im sorry". Her character is displayed when she chides him for not giving her the sympathy before leaving.
Beth is literally as pathetic as Jerry. This is why she (or her clone) decides to stay with jerry.
Her or her clone, they both would have made the same choice in the other's position.
I felt like what he was saying was more like "your dad didn't abandon you to go on a vacation beth, stop acting like he was having a party away from you"

Wow this scene hits really different once you know Ricks backstory. Birdperson is telling Beth all about Ricks past but he can't respond to the stuff she says about being his daughter because he knows that she really is not and its not his place to tell her that. Instead he tells her all about his and RIcks past that he is able to. Beth is just entirely self centered and clueless in this scene, but Birdperson was actually responding to her thoughtfully.

The reason why theres a photo of baby Morty with Rick is because Rick teleported into Baby Morty's nursery room and he became emotionally attached to baby Morty so our Rick basically had been in Morty's life without Morty actually remebering it because he's only a baby when Rick's been seeing him without Beth or Jerry or young Summer noticing our Rick's presence.

Scenes like this really make me hate Beth. She so deluded about Rick and what he thinks of her. It's pretty obvious that Rick left because he felt that raising a family was just a waste of his time and the only reason he came back was to just hide from the government.
Beth can't accept the fact that he abandoned her and the only thing she wants now is to keep Rick in her live, regardless of how harmful he is to her and her children. She goes by with this fake image she has of Rick. In her mind, he loves her more than anything and that's why he came back, when in reality, it's clear that Rick probably sees Beth as being beneath him like he does with everybody else.
Morty is the only person to see Rick for who and what he is, but he's still willingly to accept him and knows not to expect something that Rick won't give him.

A theory to the backstory of BP:
I assume that Bird Persons real name is not Bird Person, it was just Rick who called him by that name like he did with Gearhead aka Revolio Clockberg Jr. but unlike Gearhead, BP kept the name due to his respect for his friend Rick.
Poor Beth, I feel so much empathy for her. Drawing her missing father in with a crayon?! Her father who she's idolized since forever almost walked out of her life 3 times (kind of once when he almost committed suicide) and has left her a broken person. Rick is broken almost beyond repair, but he better not die before he fixes one last thing and that's Beth, saying things she needs to hear like why he left, how he's always loved her, and how proud he is of her for never giving up.

The ending of season 2 was pretty depressing, this season had some real moments pulling at your heart strings.
Considering that in the second Universal TV episode (I forget the name), it's shown that gunshots or lasershots are INCREDIBLY treatable (or at least at that super space hospital), it's entirely possible that Bird Person survived, got treatment, and is now in a holding cell, probably, like, two cells above Rick. And when the Smiths rescue Rick, they will all act surprised and Rick will berate them for not remembering when Jerry basically got fire-squaded and survived.

That would be missing out on what could be a potentially exciting 3rd season premiere. You get people hyped up on the the idea of prison escape possibilities for an entire year and then scrap everything that happened in the previous episode? I don't think so. Just seems like it'd piss people off.
