I put well over 1500 hours into this game back in the day exploring every cave and location and portal on the map + DLC Custom mods like castles and funny commands this game is amazing.
My biggest recommendation if you are going to play Morrowind, is to use cheat command line and set your Speed to 100 right at the beginning. This is literally required to play the game at normal modern speed, it's not even a cheat, otherwise you will literally spend 50% of the game time walking around very slowly. Daggerfall had fast travel, Morrowind was actually the odd one of the bunch that removed the feature. There are in-game "fast travel" such as boat and magic transport. Morrowind do not have quest markers so half of the quests are finding the location, there are online detailed Morrowind game map, I recommend just using it. But I actually enjoy this walking aspect of the game which forces you to explore and it make the game world feel bigger. You should play Morrowind with the OpenMW frontend, it is better than the original launcher and also fixes bugs. Another tip is that you need to play this game with a certain mindset. This game is very open for players choice, you are meant to take advantage and exploit the game mechanic. If you play with modern games mindset where devs lock players into a narrow playstyle it won't feel as fun. That means you can stack attribute potions, such as using Intelligence potion to massively raise your magic points, and create custom spells that does massive area effect or damages, or jump across the game map in one jump (fast travel). If you feel too strong though I would use the difficulty slider.
@@MrSaviorHDwatch a video called how to enjoy Morrowind without giving up. It gives great advice and tips. Always jump around to increase speed. Once you love faster the game is much better.
I am going to second the "look for an actual map" comment. Morrowind is from an era where games came with physical manuals (and paper maps) and it is assumed you have access to these to understand how to play the game. Even with a map, some directions are really obscure, so be prepared. Nothing that a quick google search can't fix though.
Back in early 2000 I started with Morrowind, played oblivion and now still playing Skyrim and I tell you right now because of your video I have to go back and play Morrowind and oblivion again. I love them all three, unique in their own way but the soundtrack never disappoint's
It was a random recommend for me, too, but I’m having a lot of fun!! Everything seems like a reference from Skyrim to me (although obvs the opposite is true), and now I finally understand why my Reddit friends get soooo excited about things that are callbacks to the other games! It IS exciting and fun! I’m definitely understanding more about certain CC content!
I remeber playing this game when it was released. I sunk hundreds of hours into it and loved it. My girlfriend (now my wife) even made herself a shirt with and Oblivion Gate on it withy phrase 'Oblivion Widow' because of how much sleep I was losing to the game. One of the greatest games ever made. Now go back ans replay it midded. And then play Skyblivion when it's finished.
I don't know if you went back but the DLC Shivering Isles might be the best DLC I've ever played. Its adds like a 1/3 of the map and a whole new big story. Also the main character is fantastic.
Oblivion is one of my favorite games ever. It's just so damn charming, even when it's being a bit buggy. And funny enough, I think the main questline is kind of the worst part of the game. So if you do keep playing (you should) you're in for a wild ride. Also play Shivering Isles (the DLC). It slaps. One of the best ever. Good vibeo happy Savior like game :)
This was definitely my favorite gaming experience of all time. So fun to play, entertaining stories & quests, and the clunky NPCs just make it even more fun & hilarious
I’m almost 30 years old, and when I first got this game, I was maybe 12 years old, it was hands down the best game I ever played at that point. I still play it every few months. To this day, I consider it top 5. Shivering Isles complimented this game perfectly. To see someone play it as if it’s a relic, made me feel old, and proud.
Man elder scrolls is just so timeless and so special. I keep thinking about playing oblivion again but I talk myself out of it lol I’ve sunk so many hours of my life into elder scrolls games, and I’m so happy I had the pleasure of enjoying these games. I truly hope the next one they make is just as special and keeps me playing it for years like Skyrim did to most of us.
Morrowind was my introduction to the franchise. It's a totally different animal. In many ways very old school and clunky compared to Oblivion. But at the same time, it doesn't feel as generic as Oblivion, which reuses assets all the time and has very little variation in assets and landscape. Morrowind on the other hand is very diverse with so many places that are unique and not copied and pasted assets. There is so much to discover and since the game doesn't take you by your hand, you have to search and discover the world all by yourself. You will still miss a lot or never find out a certain things. I for example, never found the entrance to the Morag Tong hide out before looking online years later. You can also skill your character totally free. If you jump all the time (training acrobatic) you will jump higher with time, getting to discover areas other characters couldn't. Or use a cheat to set that skill very high, you could jump a hundred meters high all over the map. Silly? Yes, but also fun.
The reason you can fast travel is because the player character is from Cyrodil. Whatever race you choose doesn’t matter, you were born and raised in Cyrodil. That’s why you “know” how to fast travel there. Champion of Cyrodil is one of my favorite video game characters of all time
The number of playthroughs I've done of this game is unrivaled. Even almost 20 years later I still find myself coming back to it. Despite its flaws, I love this game. So many great memories, and the OST never fails to take me back.
There's something about Bethesda's games, from their older days all tbe way to Skyrim, their games have charm to it, you could see their vision even with the limitations.
I love oblivion. Im glad you tried it. Im actually doing my second full playthrough of it currently. I still find it so immersive even nowadays because the atmosphere is so calming. Great comfort game.
I sunk so much time into this game during college. It was a blast until the enemy level scaling just took all the fun away in the later levels. I also lost hours of gameplay one time after getting stuck under some stairs. Still lots of good memories though.
Can we talk about the most underrated and overlooked part of oblivion at the start is the fact all major cities were already unlocked for travel. Bethesda remembered that your character has had to live in the world a while and learn things before they are thrust into the story arc at 20+ years old. Like yeah bro you got the innate knowledge of a few spells, trained in basic sword and shield/ bow work, can read at like a doctorate grade level, understands cartography, able to manage a small business and the art of economics, a master debater, and has the stamina of the man from Marathon. God forbid they remember where their countries capital is or what roads lead where
When I heard about the closing of the xbox360 store , I went to it and found this jewel , bought it and the dlc , the big one, and like it very much.... After playing for 13 years with like 2.500 hours and countless characters created on skyrim wanted to cry when I get this game on my old , fat xbox360. This Elder scroll have , for me at least, more of the original RPG games that have a lot of dungeons and texts , a very solid story . As Nords and Imperials are in someway protagonists in Skyrim, here in Oblivion found that my fav race , the bretons are the best. Nice to have more ppl playing this awesome game. Thanks a lot. By the way ... Do you know some tips about this Elder scroll ... Still searching for a good guide.
When I played it for the first time back in the day, I was so excited with the whole Crusader thing (which is a DLC) that I finished it thinking it was the main questline, hahaha, for a moment I was so bummed, before realizing I have barely progressed on the main quests... So cool to see people giving it a go and actually liking it...
Oblivion was peak gaming and is still up to elden ring level today ❤ I am glad someone still plays it because its really better than everything nowadays ❤ except elden ring. And skyrim. But... to many skyrim releases.
As someone whos put thousands of hours into this game, and i love this game so much! i really enjoyed this video, it had some hilarious moments too hahaha
Definitely finish the Dark Brotherhood questline with your stealth archer. The Fighter's Guild and Mage's Guild are fun too. Crafting spells can get wild, I wish that was part of Skyrim. Morrowind is worth trying, keep in mind each swing of your weapon gets a dice roll to see if it hits or not. That can be off-putting if you don't expect it.
I currently have about 2000 hour plugged into one playthrough. Been systematically doing everything in the game. And I still have so much content to complete. That being said I think you should watch Wilburgurs play through. He really shows you the full extent of what you can do in that game.
I beat it this year. Not for a video but because I love it. I remember the day my older brother brought it home and watching it him play. I loved revisiting the memories along the way. And one day my kids will watch me play it too
Always nice to see someone's first reactions to my favorite RPG. :) This was my first Elder Scrolls game way back on the Xbox 360, and I still play it a fair amount to this day.
Oblivion was badass. I played it after my first Skyrim playthrough, and loved it. It nade me appreciate Skyrim so much more on my next playthrough, as I now understood the lore so much deeper than before.
The graphics on Morrowind can make it hard to play but it’s more difficult to play since it doesn’t have the map markers and fast travel like Oblivion and Skyrim. With that being said it’s still a great game worth playing.
I have always told ppl that if you played it you gonna like it there is no hate or boring here and tbh i dont think today's open world games would be the same if it's not for Oblivion and FO New Vegas.. how characters were responding to you and how the world moves with you was something incredible to have 18 years back and i didn't even talk about the story and the designs. You gotta love it bro
Oblivion was my first time I was completely lost in a game world. Hardcore played it for months. Did the same with Skyrim post launch with mods. I still go back to modded Skyrim from time to time and am keeping an eye on Skybilivion and Skywind. Would love to see you try Morrowind.
If you can find it, use the mod that doubles the tree height. It's useful to see the main city all the time for navigation, but amazing for immersion if you can't.
Talking about figuring out how to level up, I played the whole game through not completely understanding you had to sleep. I think i was probably level four when i beat the story.
When Madias glitched you could have killed the enemies with "killall" command, kills all nonessentials and helps often when things fall into floors and such. EDIT: reloading on console was your friend.
Imo Oblivion is way better in terms of "RPG" than Skyrim.. Skyrim on the other hand has the best mods to date its not even close, which also means endless playthrough.
Disagree. Oblivion might seem deeper, but it’s really not. Skyrim is more streamlined, but things matter more. Leveling didn’t matter in Oblivion. You never felt any progression, which is why I think Morrowind is the best. You go from being a complete weakling, to a literal GOD!!
@@billywilliams957 no I don’t. I’ve put hundreds of hours into all of them. Oblivion’s leveling is broken. It literally doesn’t matter, you can just go through the game at level 1.
@@ElGaby323 well that's interesting about playing it all at lvl 1.
I will be giving Morrowind a shot soon in the future. So I appreciate the tips and help!
I love them all three, unique in their own way but the soundtrack never disappoint's
what a great channel, thank you youtube recommendations. Keep up the good content, man!
Thanks gamer!
I forced myself to play as well. Never played. I played Skyrim but Oblivion is my first time. Still playing and it is amazing so far.
The shivering isles is like being able to travel to the storie lands of tolkien that you only hear the main characters whisper about
This is the game that melted my Xbox on Xmas. Very special game and close to my heart.
Been hearing good stuff about the DLC. Maybe I will actually try that.
@@MrSaviorHD Shivering Isles is so good. If you liked the deadric quests in Skyrim then Shivering isles is that times a hundred.
The Dark Brotherhood questline in this game is one of the my favourite in the series and in any RPG
The Dark Brotherhood questline in Oblivion is one of my favorites in the entire series and in any RPG ever!
10:23 well thats ONE way to get Uncle Lucies attantion. IYKYK
I just started playing a couple weeks ago and got hooked, was not expecting to enjoy such an old game so much.
0:37 Man looking like Ego from Ratatouille.
LMAOO
Man elder scrolls is just so timeless and so special. I keep thinking about playing oblivion again but I talk myself out of it lol I’ve sunk so many hours of my life into elder scrolls games, and I’m so happy I had the pleasure of enjoying these games. I truly hope the next one they make is just as special and keeps me playing it for years like Skyrim did to most of us.
Ngl the Martin arrack on the bear killed me 😂 so casual, so fast, and then just dead still staring at the body lol wtf Bethesda
One of the greatest games of all time ❤
It was pretty nice. Especially for the time when it came out.
@@MrSaviorHD In my opinion it still holds up today bro, a timeless classic.. countless hours after school playing it on the og 360 … pure bliss ❤️
Morrowind and Oblivion were pretty dope. Yes, Skyrim was as well, but there's something about the immersion of III & IV that still rival Sky5's.
Accidentally becoming a vampire is an oblivion graduation requirement
Oblivion was my first elder scrolls game. I worship that game so much.
Fun fact the best way to enjoy oblivion is by either never leveling up or just breaking the spell creation system
The last Elder Scroll I've played is Daggerfall. Maybe I should give a newer one a chance.
Try it out!
There's something about Bethesda's games, from their older days all tbe way to Skyrim, their games have charm to it, you could see their vision even with the limitations.
I have to say I have played oblivion a ton, got it when it first released but your commentary legitimately made me laugh
Appreciate it gamer!
Almost 20 years later and I still laugh every time I hear the classic "This is the part where you fall down and bleed to BLAGHHHHGH!!!"
I love oblivion. Im glad you tried it. Im actually doing my second full playthrough of it currently. I still find it so immersive even nowadays because the atmosphere is so calming. Great comfort game.
This guys narration of the video game is legendary and hilarious 😆
Please put out more footage and commentary of you playing. This was amazing
I sunk so much time into this game during college. It was a blast until the enemy level scaling just took all the fun away in the later levels. I also lost hours of gameplay one time after getting stuck under some stairs. Still lots of good memories though.
One of the few physical copies I ever owned that i purchased as a University student ~22 years old
It was an amazing experience back in 2006. It hasn't aged well, but still has its charms. Also the soundtrack is among my favorites of all time!
The nearby Settlement of Weynon Priory needs your help. I’ll mark it on your map.
Man, I really cannot wait for Skyblivion.
That Eddie Munster character creation is right on point
Can we talk about the most underrated and overlooked part of oblivion at the start is the fact all major cities were already unlocked for travel.
Bethesda remembered that your character has had to live in the world a while and learn things before they are thrust into the story arc at 20+ years old.
Like yeah bro you got the innate knowledge of a few spells, trained in basic sword and shield/ bow work, can read at like a doctorate grade level, understands cartography, able to manage a small business and the art of economics, a master debater, and has the stamina of the man from Marathon. God forbid they remember where their countries capital is or what roads lead where
Oblivion made elder scrolls mainstream
Awesome video ma, really glad you appreciated it this much! But how on earth can it be that you didnt mention the wonderful music?? :D
"Noooooo, he can't be dea- ohh, he's got some good armour" pretty much sums up every Elder scrolls game ever.
Oblivion was peak gaming and is still up to elden ring level today ❤ I am glad someone still plays it because its really better than everything nowadays ❤ except elden ring. And skyrim. But... to many skyrim releases.
Thank you for reliving my childhood!
Of course gamer!
As someone whos put thousands of hours into this game, and i love this game so much! i really enjoyed this video, it had some hilarious moments too hahaha
It is I, the emperor. And I thank you. Ill see you tonight again in my dreams
"Jean-Luc? Is... is that YOU?!"
"...There... are... four LIIIGHTS!"
11:50
The Wii Sports music in the background almost killed me 🤣
Definitely finish the Dark Brotherhood questline with your stealth archer.
I subscribed because of the crack when Martin killed the bear. Too funny
Thanks!
i didn't know that some 2006 games looks that good, it's almost 20y old game, makes me feel old (im 22)
I don't understand the FORCED title other than to grab attention. Why did you need to force yourself as if it's a bad game.
Love the ability to throw spell without taking of your weapons/shield
I currently have about 2000 hour plugged into one playthrough. Been systematically doing everything in the game. And I still have so much content to complete.
That being said I think you should watch Wilburgurs play through. He really shows you the full extent of what you can do in that game.
I beat it this year. Not for a video but because I love it. I remember the day my older brother brought it home and watching it him play. I loved revisiting the memories along the way. And one day my kids will watch me play it too
I played both at launch and had way more fun in Oblivion than in Skyrim. It was a beautiful looking game too.
I'd like to try Morrowind someday.
"Crabs hate you" Oh sweet Oblivion never changes XD. You can be level 100 and the leader of every Guild, but the agro NPC's won't ever bat an eye XD
Always nice to see someone's first reactions to my favorite RPG. :)
This was my first Elder Scrolls game way back on the Xbox 360, and I still play it a fair amount to this day.
Oblivion was badass. I played it after my first Skyrim playthrough, and loved it. It nade me appreciate Skyrim so much more on my next playthrough, as I now understood the lore so much deeper than before.
The shivering isles dlc is one of the best of all time
The graphics on Morrowind can make it hard to play but it’s more difficult to play since it doesn’t have the map markers and fast travel like Oblivion and Skyrim. With that being said it’s still a great game worth playing.
"oh noooh, he can't be dead!..... he's got some good armor though.."
How tf this channel has only 51k subscribers, incredible quality
Thank you!
@@ElGaby323 i think you have it switched my man
@@billywilliams957 no I don’t. I’ve put hundreds of hours into all of them. Oblivion’s leveling is broken. It literally doesn’t matter, you can just go through the game at level 1.
@@ElGaby323 well that's interesting about playing it all at lvl 1. But if you did choose to go past lvl 1 you would lose on points by not working on the right skill so it forced you to do those more. like if you went for being unga bunga but lvl'd magic oreiented stuff you would get a diminishing returns. maybe ill do lvl 1 run lol
@@billywilliams957 yea Oblivion would actually punish you for leveling up lol
On paper the RPG elements look much deeper than Skyrim, but in reality it’s not when you realize how broken it is.
Man really went and got a literal weapon of immense power that was once wielded by an elf genocide enthusiast and proceeded to unleash it on 3 argonians who HAD to fight him in order to be let out of prison sentences XD
Will never forget first getting into oblivion! Those were the days 🥲
I’m so curious what killing uvani does for the later dark brother hood missions
