(This tradition exists in Punjab, Sindh also, a girl is forcefully married off to a guy from the opposing tribe or family due to the fact that a male from her family committed a wrongdoing against the other family, so the girl is "punished" by being given in marriage, the men of her family can go free then, she pays the price for the sins the men in her family committed. A local rural jirga/panchayat makes this decision (which is usually all made up of men, not women when making this decision.))
Edit: This is Islamically wrong, I did read this tradition is also practiced in India some form (but called by a different name). This is illegal and punishable by Pakistani law and people have been arrested and sentenced for this when caught. But people hold on to customs/traditions over religious values, so then again this is practiced in some capacity in rural areas sadly. Also read about karo kari if you can (honor killing). I feel this drama talks about these topics to some extent, so just writing about this here.
