One thing that I have learned over the years is that sometimes you can counter act the decisions of the judges by personally getting to know them. When you have a judge that doesn’t seem to like your horse, get them to like you. After an event, like dressage, go n talk to the judges. Explain that you would like their input on what you could do better n how you can improve your score. Find out what they think you can do to improve your riding n what you can do to help your horse get better scores. You will find that most judges would love to help you n will encourage you on the things you need to improve on. The more the judges realize that you are serious about wanting to improve, the better your scores will become. Even if they really don’t like your horse, they will like you, because you are willing to learn. Awesome video n congratulations on your engagement.
Zeb is a very honest horse. Dressage judges are fickle fickle fickle. Some judges are looking more at the whole picture, forward, consistent, accepting of the contact. Some judges are fixated on the poll must always be the highest point except in the free gaits. Some judges hate certain breeds. Dressage is the most subjective "objective" sport I've ever competed in. You are very positive Ashley, and I appreciate that you always have praise for your horse.

@@ashleyharrisoneventing Thank you! I won't get to ride shows, as I have a chronic illness, and my part loan horse has a triangle tattoo, which means she can't compete. I wish I could do a mini-cup at some point in the future. Not on her obviously, but it would be so fun, it's just 60 cm, but if I got to do that I'd probably cry with joy.
Here in America I've only seen medial and lateral studs. Noticed that you and Meg at Elphick are using lateral studs only. Curious why? Seems that would increase torsion disproportionately.
I think Zebade don’t know if that’s how you spell it I think he was great especially for his first run out of 2021 judges are fickle people they like certain horses and never change there minds but I think he did a good job and you both enjoyed yourselves that’s all that matters and congratulations to you both on your engagement
