My biggest memories of this movie back when it was originally released have nothing to do with the movie itself. I was ten at the time and, about a week or so after it came out (it might've even been the opening weekend), my Sunday School class went to Six Flags Over Georgia. Needless to say, it was being advertised up the yin-yang there, with billboards, commercials on every monitor you came across (I can still remember the announcer saying, "The Bat, the Best, the Bold, the Beautiful, and... the Cold,"), and such. I remember seeing a Batman stunt-show, as well as my cousin trying to talk me onto a Riddler-themed rollercoaster, the Mind-Bender, which I refused to ride, making him throw a tantrum. And then, late in the day, I threw up, likely because I got overheated. I never have and I never will eat funnel cakes ever again.
So, that's what Batman & Robin means to me... that and it's a piece of shit. The last time I watched it, I was braindead the entire time.

I was 20 when it came out. I didn’t want to see it. The trailers looked terrible. But a buddy was insistent we go see it, so we did. We spent almost the entire runtime cringing. The only time we had any entertainment value was towards the end when Bane is placing explosives and burps out “BOOOOOOOOOMB”. I don’t know why, but that broke us; we just started laughing uncontrollably.

Another good review. Just like Batman Forever, it's definitely the bottom of the barrel. In fact if Burton's third and final Batman were to happen, we wouldn't have even gotten this. Everything about this movie is awful and it is a toy commercial. The only good thing we've ever gotten out of this movie in general was your intro 😆 funny as hell. I will say, though I don't think Clooney at all was good in the role or even fit in the role, his reason for his performance as Batman / Bruce Wayne makes total sense. He says he purposely got away from the dark side of Batman because at this point in his life, he's in his forties and he has billions of dollars, he has cool gadgets, a mansion, a butler, can date any woman he wants, and best of all, he's Batman. Then he stated something along the lines of he doesn't need to be brooding or have anybody feel sorry for him. He wanted to portray somebody who clearly moved on from his trauma and I respect his explanation but it still is no excuse for how horrible the performance was.

I was 15 when this hit theaters and I remember even back in '97 thinking it was my least favorite of the Batman movies. I enjoyed it enough at the time but it was the only Batman movie that I didn't go out and buy on VHS. My favorite scene with them was in batman when alfred is telling vicky about giving bruce riding lessons when he was a kid and the 3 of them have a sweet moment together. Honestly though it's apples and oranges you're opinion is just as valid because despite my feelings on batman and robin, Clooney and Gough had great chemistry as well. I laughed after realizing you literally said nothing about Bane in the movie except for that one joke, but it’s understandable because they literally just had him be Ivy’s bitch the whole movie 😂
Also I have to kinda disagree on Arnie cast as Mr Freeze, because I feel like with the right script and the right director, and if he took a more dark approach to the character, then I think Arnie would make a great Freeze

Uma Therman as poison ivy was honestly great casting and this movie goes into the so bad it’s good category for me like one of my best memories of this movie was when I was watching clips of this movie on a computer my mom saw me watching the scene of Poison Ivy kissing the two guards thought I was watching porn so she grounded me💀 then years later we rewatched the movie together I straight up told her remember when you grounded me for watching this 💀

It's funny how forgiving we can be of the 60s Batman with Adam West, as ridiculous as it was, and this movie just crosses the line into pure garbage.

Patrick Stewart is the ONLY person who should have been cast as Freeze.
I never understood the "make a movie to sell toys" thing. Has Batman had a problem selling toys EVER? Did the other three Batman movies not manage to sell toys? I don't get why they dumbed down the movie to sell toys when I'm pretty sure I remember a shit ton of toys being released for the other movies as well. Not to mention happy meals and glasswear, etc. Plus, what kid wasn't watching the Batman movies in the first place? You had the movies, the animated series, and the animated movies. I'm pretty sure the kid angle was covered.

I actually know ONE person that this is his favorite Batman movie lol(mainly because of Arnold)...but to answer your question I'd rather see a grounded version of Mr Freeze slightly over Poison Ivy because I think you can tell a better more complex story with him doing what he's doing trying to save his wife.

A couple things. Firstly, there’s the part where Batman tells Mr. Freeze he could “save the man his wife once loved.” Um what? There was a whole subplot of Mr Freeze’s wife being Alfred’s ex that was abandoned. Secondly, the line “This is why Superman works alone.” I dug that. Everyone says “oh so they’re in the same universe as Superman?” I always took it as meaning “no, but Superman is a comic character in their universe like he is in ours and people will use him in figures of speech and whatnot like in ours.” I made this meme of George Clooney saying that to send people when they get on my nerves lol

Again, like Batman Forever, this movie was from my early childhood. I was 4 when it came out and remember Mr. Freeze, Batman and Robin. Completely forgot about Batgirl and didn't even realise Bane was in this movie until after TDKR came out.

    1) The problem with this movie isnt that its a silly kids movie. Lego Batman was a kids movie. Heck look at how many Pixar films are still enjoyable as an adult. The problem is that it is a BAD kids movie that just exists to sell toys, and even kids can tell that. As a kid I felt like this was "Just another batman movie".
    2) Anyone who says this is the worst comic superhero movie doesnt know what theyre talking about. Supergirl movie.

    Cody,
You forgot Barbara was from London and had zero English accent.
To piggy back on Alfred letting people in the bat cave: Alfred said something about secrets being super important at that house as soon as Barbara gets there.
This movie sucks so much ass.
