Love this song!! Loved it from the beginning, but after the birth of my special needs daughter it became our anthem. It has gotten us through some tough times, can't wait to see GBS tomorrow night in VT!!!!!!!!!!!

This song was one of two theme songs for my secondary school. Every event and assembly started with one or both songs. The other was Its my Life by Bon Jovi.
This is really great footage. It's really too bad they had to call it quits, but I understand why. I still have my fingers crossed for them to get back together!

It's called a bodhran.
That was pretty funny about the producer saying they needed an electric guitar solo in order to get it on the radio! Ummmm, it's Canada - it's hard NOT to get on the radio up there since the MAPL system requires that at least 35% of all content on the radio be created by Canadian artists (though most stations are licensed at 40% these days). So, basically, you have to suck pretty bad NOT to get on the radio in Canada. Lucky for us, Great Big Sea are extremely talented.

This is still one of the best GBS songs ever, but this isn't the best version. Not long after this recording, Séan decided to put his family ahead of the band. Alan then did some interviews where he said he had "tried to help Séan" with substance issues. Look at this video and tell me who is high/strung out? Séan remains clean and sober, and has written a cool book with his wife Andrea. Alan, on the other hand, is still "up and can't get down..."
