Andrew, I love corporals corner. But one of Shawn Kelly's best videos was when he plugged you and your show. Between the two of you, people can get ready to survive in the woods under adverse conditions ... And on a tight budget. My thanks go out to you both. God bless you and yours.

I keep a package of the gag birthday candles in my EDC fire tin. The ones that you can’t blow out. They resist wind better than a regular candle, don’t take up much space and if the woods are wet, they burn long enough to help get that initial fire established. That trick with the plastic tent stakes is a new one. Brilliant! Lotta good stuff here. 👍👏

Great tips, but Never again will I use tape directly on anything for the field. Ever try to sew with tape residue on a sail needle, It SUCKS. My needle rests inside a melted ends plastic straw now. I would do the same for the small feral rod and cut the razor blade straw length wise and then insert the edge into the straw then tape around it. The tape residue on the top that you hold may help holding it while you use the sharp edge to cut ( without reside ) on the sharp edge. Yet all great ideas on this vid. Love the uses of all the items.

When I discovered the lighting a candle with a ferro rod about a year ago, just blew me away (especially when it proved to be repeatable). Along these lines, the use of a piece of metal tubing, stuffed with a piece of jute, in conjunction with a ferro rod, also works very well (better in fact). The cool thing is, the dried cambium layer from Cottonwoods, etcetera works just as well.👍

In doing some research I found that really good candles have an additive, so I went looking for stearine candles which burn a long time are dripless...and found them at church supply stores! Plus they had many different sizes! We have a local store but I haven't been able to hit it up yet. That trick lighting the candle with the ferro rod...I watched that part twice, like a magic trick. But overall that seems like a lot of gear to hide in the ol' prison purse! LOL

So much good stuff. I use the plastics to get fires going in the yard all the time to burn refuse. People really forget that most plastic are petroleum based. It'll get your fire going real hot for a short period of the. This really helps if u need to dry out some wood when first getting a fire going if that's all that's available.

Andrew , I am a big fan of small rare earth magnet rods, for navigation so small they can be concealed anywhere and cheap. The north end can be painted with red paint. Also in the anti-theft tags found on products, there are small magnetic strips that can cut into an arrow, and be used as a compass needle, and put on a floating leaf or twig.

Great to see you back on trail Andrew! Outstanding tutorial on a homemade SERE fire kit, great ideas!
The military magnesium block fire starter has always been an excellent self contained fire tool that isn’t utilized to its full potential by some… I remember watching across a few seasons of a TV show, we will call it “ Nude and Scared”… a lot of the self proclaimed experts brought the magnesium block with to start fires. The vast majority of them just utilized it as a ferro rod leaving the magnesium untouched, and often not getting a fire started either. Perhaps a case of overselling ones skills for a shot on tv, lol…
Ahhh Chem Lights…never leave a bunch of Privates alone in the barracks when the power is out up on the DMZ…. Chem Light nunchuck fights will bound to happen. I like the buzz saw signaling technique for night time, very simple and effective.
Fabric maps have always fascinated me, since seeing Silk SERE maps for pilots… lots of possibilities.
Great presentation again Andrew!!! Keep up the Fire!

Would you consider doing a video about general evacuation for people living/working with family near conflict zones? I know that is a huge topic to cover, but it seems important given current events.
Lots of people assume blankets, containers, and hygiene supplies will be instantly available when they arrive at a refugee center, but those supplies can take days to arrive. Blankets, pillows, and extra socks are rare in the first days and even weeks of an evacuation.
There doesn’t seem to be any videos that cover realistic preparations for possible evacuation. Most of the content on CZcams seems to be small scale personal survival bugout kits.
A good video might include what to expect when arriving at a FEMA center or refugee center. Documents, processing, sleeping situations. Certainly you would have more knowledge of this stuff than most of us.
Thanks for all the great videos you already provide. This is a superb channel.
