One the things I like about your channel is the diversity of location. Alot of people only present one location of the country. It's cool to see the different skills need for different locations. Thanks for the hard work.
I'm from Michigan but living in South Carolina now. It does not seem like anyone does this type of training down here?
@@brianreynolds4552 I live in North Carolina we do we just don't have a youtube channel. Lol
@@brianreynolds4552 mop
Chris, are you serious. I enjoy this gentleman's videos and a few things I could use but I haven't seen much that I can use in the woods and swamps of Florida
I'm goin' back in this channel and lovin' it! Andrew , doin' a good job bro thank you
Best tip i seen in this video is " gloves wearing gloves " small hand injuries are compound fatigue no one thinks of... i learned this years ago backpacking for months as an explorer scout.
someone spending time teaching others to enjoy and safely put their knowledge to the test is such an example of human
goodness,
well done again. and very well put together as usual.
It is interesting seeing how you can improvise to survive based on the location, terrain, available resources, weather and etc. I always learn a little by watching. Thanks for the effort to teach others.
#1 moral booster; hot coffee, tea or coco. Great work Andrew!
Outstanding congratulations on the 100 episode.
Ratings on sleeping bags is the survival rating which means you will be cold but not die. If you want to be warm and comfortable always go with a much lower rating below the outside temps.
I have the same bag and can say it's definitely not warm below freezing (for me) :D
A "Dream Team" season of Alone could start right here. Add in Garand Thumb for the Air Force, Sean Kelly for the Marines, Don Mann for the Navy, throw in a couple of civilian luminaries or show veterans like Chris Weatherman...
Only one problem. The show wouldn't end.
@@trevorcassell6489 😂 Ya. They'd all be out there 5 years! Long enough for Kelly to build a small town, if he had enough bank line.😂 I'm sorry, Happy New Year. 🎆🎇🎉
Good stuff brother! Good luck getting an invite to "Alone". You would win against any civilian. You should pitch a military branch edition. That would be hella-bragging rights.
A bunch of Shawn's fans told him they didn't like the 30min plus videos but I love it.
Gives a whole new meaning to " know your s. h.i.t". Lol. Good job
100 episodes!! I’ve enjoyed every bit of your channel!! Simple, straight to the point, and no BS. GREAT JOB
Shared, when what is coming hits the planet, we will all be looking for a safe place to survive!
Even if something came it wouldn't be with the fear and anxiety that I have seen in many who are involved in preparation that we would be able to resist. I am very interested in survival, self-sufficiency and being able to be autonomous but for pity's sake I reject the mentality of those who prepare themselves (like some preppers) believing that their safety will derive only from their stocks, and from Them, they accumulate with something of fear and a sense of catastrophism. Those who have faith do not be afraid, give their best in every opportunity and believe and will never be abandoned. Therefore no sense of anguish in learning these techniques, or a somehow hidden sense of catastrophism.
Bless you
I'm sure everything will be beyond fine, but I feel smarter for knowing these skills & having some items.
Has it been 100 episodes???
I believe I have watched nearly all of them…😊
What a blessing you are…
This is one of my favorites- love to see you put your tips and information into practice in the field…
Plus, being in Nebraska, this video is extra helpful to me…
Thank you ,thank you ,thank you…
Judging by that smile and demeanor, you must’ve had a very nice Christmas… - you deserve it…
( you have an extremely attractive smile)
God bless you…
😊
I love how you do skill sets for different environments Andrew! Your talents are outstanding brother! Keep up the great content!!!
Great 10 items for long-term survival. I would take all of them, but... sleeping bag couldn't be blue 🤣 Cheers Andrew!
you could always pile some of the dry grass or other surrounding materials onto it
Love sleeping on a grass bed! My version is 1-2' (approx. 6" compressed) below, woobie/quilt/Tyvex folded in half, then another foot or so on top of the whole thing. The next day I pull the quilt section to air out. For that night I lay the quilt on the already accumulated grass, and add another layer of grass over the whole thing. You sleep like a baby.👍
I didn't know I was watching the gourmet channel😇🤔...
Merry Christmas MMXXI
Major... If you went on the "alone" show, I truly believe every other contestant would go home when they found out who they were up against.
You'd probably win it in 4 days.. 😂🤣
Awesome video! I really enjoyed watching the 10 item kit being used. I also loved the fact that you snared a rabbit 🐇 while afield. A variety of snare setups, and how to configure them would definitely be a valuable piece of knowledge if faced with a survival situation. I appreciate another great video!
I was hoping to see more detail on how to tie the snares. Still an awsome video though!
A commercial snare will always be the best option, as they can be loaded to maintain a circular shape, have a lock that will keep the prey from escaping, close very quickly and smoothly. Snares, though are a one-time use trap, as the animal twisting as it tries to escape will cause it to kink and never close smoothly again. A better option is the small conibear body grip traps, as they will last many years, and can be reused thousands of times. They're small, and weigh little. A good source of trapping for food are on the Meat Trapper channel.
Handmade snares will work, but not as efficiently as a commercially made snare--they're dirt cheap--commercially made snares can be loaded to keep them round (not teardrop shaped), they close with lightning speed, and have a lock which will keep your prey from escaping. The downside is that they're usually a one-shot, as the animal's twisting to escape will kink the wire, making it slower to close the next time. A better choice are 110 Conibear body grip traps. You'll want a swivel between the Conibear (or snare) and either a snare extension--ordinary baling wire will work on small critters--and the tree to which you tightly tie it. Don't want a coyote to steal your prey AND your trap. Conibear 110--perfect for rabbits and similar sized game--these traps will serve you well for many years, weigh practically nothing and are also dirt cheap. You can find them on eBay. For better info on trapping for survival, check out The Meat Trapper on CZcams--he doesn't trap for fur, just meat.
@@Joe_Goofball He is going through items they let you carry on the show "Alone". I'm sure commercial snares are not part of the items they allow. Only snare wire
That is the most outside-the-box survival kit I’ve seen to date. 😳 Thanks for stretching our brains!
Love the thicket and grass shelter. Great idea.
It took 100 episodes for you to prove you really know your $h!t. All kidding aside, congratulations and I look forward to the next 100 episodes.
He conveys complexities in simplicities, let's try to get him another 10k subs this week!
Congrats on the milestone of 100 videos! Now that’s a saw. I got to have it
Hello, merry Christmas 🎄☃️☃️🎄
36 minutes 22 seconds until I come back to comment
He said, “ what!!, I’m not a complete heathen. “ 🤣🤣🤣
Outstanding!
Love the 10 item challenge.
I like the fact that you don't just say bring this or bring that but you actually use your tools for shelter, food and survival. I think it's very important to not only see how to catch game but also how to process it. Keep up the good work.
At 19:44, you should’ve seen the look in your face, I was crying 😭 and screaming, YOU ANIMAL!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yours is the best channel on YT for this information and I have and look forward to seeing all your videos and putting all I have learned good use. Congratulations.
We would absolutely be rooting for you should you ever be chosen for Alone. I personally have a goal of active training to get to that level myself. A huge thank you for everything you have done for all of us this year. Its been a busy year for everyone and I always appreciate the time and energy you put into your work. Happy Holidays to you and your family. Wishing you a prosperous year in 2022! Rangers Lead The Way!

Another interesting and very informative video. Keep them coming, please. One comment regarding your boots. When I was a Boy Scout, decades ago, I slept outside on the ground in a sleeping bag and left my boots on the ground beside me, as you did in the video. One morning I got up, put my boots on, laced them up and started walking. Almost immediately I felt a sharp, stinging pain in one foot. I couldn't get that boot off fast enough. When I did, I discovered that cause of the pain. A large spider had bedded down in the boot sometime during the night. Ever since that incident I have taken off my boots and slept with my boots inside the sleeping bag with me .
Congrats on the 100th episode Andrew! I'm sure your not surprised but I'm subscribed to you but CZcams never notified me about it. Just thought I'd leave my comment and support in hopes that changes!
Great video, love the sights and sounds of those honkers.
As I've said before , surviving off the land (eating wild game) is what makes this channel. One of the main concerns is food, there may not be $40 worth of groceries to depend on for a warm meal. Excellent video!
Robert, I'm a South African Pensioner getting R2090 per month. I get a great kick out of peering into other people's shopping carts. People don't buy food - they buy shit. I buy food - and cook for my deep freeze. I have every rand I spend cowering in a corner begging for mercy.
@@susanp.collins7834 wild game is healthier than store bought.
@@robertdodd9623 Maybe but I don't hunt.
@@susanp.collins7834 Owe , I thought that was why you replied to my comment. Don't know what a rand is or what you're referring to?
WELL DONE THAT MAN!
Bro, you need to apply for “Alone” you’re a Ranger, Hooah, Apply man, I know you can win, you’ve got Class, keep it clean, and My wife and I love your videos, we would love to watch you compete in alone.
That was brilliant, not many channels teach anything about the details of preparing snared or found animals
That's the Rambo knife of Silky saws 👍😆
So much faster than an axe !
Great to see the Leatherman in outdoors use 👍
“What?! I’m not a complete heathen!” 😂😅😂
Now that's a coffee cup right there. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
Great video! Would love to see your techniques on exactly how you use the snares with a little more detail. Also your knots. I'm new to the channel, so I may have missed previous videos where you describe those techniques in detail. Either way, I appreciate what you do, and the knowledge you share!!!
Great content as always. Liked seeing how you can process the rabbit even if you don't find it until it's frozen stiff. Congratulations on a great channel.
Another Awesome video!!!! Great show of primitive gear and skills.
Lol.... You made the shelter and I started laughing, someone sees it and will think that they found a sasquatch nest..
Ranger, Thank you for showing that segment on cleaning the FROZEN rabbit..My Dad lived in a small Kansas town where we spent many happy hours hunting cottontails. Never let a good bunny go to waste! I Learn something NEW each video! You do...Andrew!
Your Channel is amazing! I am passing it on to my own grandchildren!
I'd switch out the trip wire for a shovel. (Could make your own traps out of other materials).
A shovel could help build a shelter, dig a well, build pit traps, could possibly be an alternative axe, could be a frying pan, weapon, .............................
This is the best channel and the coverage is amazing. New ideas for shelters. New ideas to catch and dispatch wild game
Excellent video my brother! The shelter was simple but very effective. That my friend is realistic. God I love this stuff!
I would like to see you do "Alone" I have already learned a lot from your videos since finding your channel just two days ago.
Thank you for teaching your skills
I like this change up a bit :) I didn't care much for the season of Alone I watched, but would def enjoy it with you or others like you on it.
Congrats on 100 :D
Outstanding AF !
Congratulations #100 looking forward to many more to come .
Hooah sir!
Always a great inspiration to tackle this survival scenario before it becomes a necessity.
Cool video! Thanks for the in depth info and use of your 10 piece kit. Archery is the way that is for sure. Thank you!!!

Excellent video showing real world layout scenarios and terrain.
Congrats on the 100 Episode, I thought the rabbit was not dead, just pining for the fjords. Thanks for sharing.

Great to see you made 100 videos to teach others. Congratulations on this milestone.
Excellent as usual. And Mountain House is one of my favorite instants.
Keep on kicking ass on theses videos!!!!! A person learns and picks up new ideas when watching your videos.... Thank You!!!!
During 25 years infantry I never once left my boots out in the open especially in Africa as they would either be gone or have occupants our boots were laid sole outwards under our hips which actually made the night more comfortable and meant that you put on warm boots that were dryer in the morning or when our day started, and they were easily found never kicked away by a passing roving patrol or taken by some animal or anything else joined by elastic so they stayed where put.
More good stuff Andrew! Very cool ❄️❄️🤠
Congrats on 100! Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us and the time you spend on it!
