"Bell Bottom Blues" is a song written by Eric Clapton and Bobby Whitlock and performed by the band Derek and the Dominos. It is an expression of Clapton's unrequited love for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his friend George Harrison, and appears on the 1970 double album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs".
"The Promise" is a song by the British band When in Rome, and was written by all three band members, Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann and Michael Floreale. First released in 1987 on 10 Records, "The Promise" is the lead single from their self-titled debut album. - Hudba
Something about vocals like that and a Hammond organ....gives me the freaking chills in the best way
Whoever made this video deserves a gold medal
One of the best songs ever written and the best album ever record Layla and other assorted love songs
Sometimes that man's music just puts peace in my head. Sing on song bird
That guitar! My heart! 😍
This is the first time I've ever heard Bell Bottom Blues covered. It's the keening in the original that makes it so brilliant.
Really? Do yourself a favor, some guy, and listen to the Tedeschi Trucks Band version on "Layla Revisited," a live album released in 2021.
@@toddstone9727 weird that you reply today. Yesterday YT offered me a live version from Tedeschi Trucks, and I remembered making this comment. She has that keening in her vocals. so, yeah, thanks.
Keep believing you will be the next icon. Your friend Rufus Irvin
Damn good Clapton song and awesome hearing sturgill do it.
One of my all-time favorites. He does it justice, and his version of The Promise is absolutely second to none!
I don't country often, but when I do I listen to Sturgill more than any other.
Same here
@Rose Hawk Not a country song, but you think Sturgill ain't country? He's country as hell! Listen to High Top Mountain or his new bluegrass album for God's sake. Sturgill can literally do it all, but to say he's not country is just stupid.
@Rose Hawk Self classification is kind of moot. I've listened to everything he's ever done, as well as Possum and Haggard. Country is more than a type of music. A man born and raised in rural Kentucky who knows how to hunt and fish, is country. Just in the way I am. I'm not saying everything he's ever put out is a Country album. I'm well aware that Sound and Fury, and Sailor's Guide are far more Rock oriented. But to suggest that he's not country in any way is just silly. Rather you see yourself as that or not, it is what it is. As a black guy from rural NC I know good and damn well that I'm country rather I like it or not. It doesn't matter than Led Zeppelin and The Ramones are my favorite bands. Country is a part of my identity. Can't hide roots.
ty for this gem

I agree❤
Great job by Sturgill!!
Clapton song from the 70’s

Thank you so much for viewing, Michelle. I adore Sturgill’s work so much also. He is just the best. It has been a great pleasure and honor to be able to film some of his amazing concerts and share them with you and the rest of the world. Many thanks for the opportunity.❤️
Alright, how about this dude's talent? Lyrics, music, WOW! I can't wait to see him and Tyler Childers in Knoxville this month!!
Turtles all the way!!!!! Good night to all!!
He’s great! You do realize neither of these are originals to Sturgill though...he made them his own though!
Not his lyrics.
Some songs are better left uncovered
Was at this gig and it was superb. Great Celtic Connections this year in Glasgow and saw some excellent artists including Tyler Childers, Ryan Bingham and The Milk Carton Kids to name a few. Keep sending such talent over to Scotland, we're loving it.

My wife and I had this played at our wedding. Absolutely breathtaking to be on top of a mountain and see my bride walking towards me to take our vows! Doesn't get better than that!!
Man I love being at front of the line! Amazing performance
Thanks for documenting and sharing, especially since he's not playing it on his current US tour...and fuck the haters he sounds fantastic.
Derek and The Dominos... nice
The Layla and Assorted Other Love Songs double album is perhaps my favorite album of all time.

This might be the greatest video I have ever seen. Thank you so much for posting it.

Thank You, Amy, for sharing. So happy to find this and really appreciate someone as Sturgill that can convey the emotion of this song. Loved your SR shout out- would love TTB to add SS to a Wheels of Soul tour. That's a dream.
Thank you Chris! Wow, Sturgill and Derek on dueling guitars- it would be mind blowing!!!!!
@@AmyKaribian It would be perfect. Especially with a Dap Kings connection.

If I ever get to grow up i need to be Sturgill RESPeCT
Thank you Amy! This is terrific footage of a truly amazing gig. I love how you overcame the red lighting with your recording. I have some not-so-good clips :-)
The sturg can do most anything except, possibly, hit the high notes in bellbottom Blues
Was there. What a fucking gig x
Thank you @amykaribian for all the great videos!
Thank you Bryan ❤️❤️🎼🎼
Not throwing shade but what happened to your video of him at the the Newport Folk festival playing Brace for Impact (live a little) that is hands down the best version online and the one that introduced me to Simpson and that video is very much missed. Thank you so much for posting it if I never see it again I will still be a better human because of your gracious contribution.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, William. Sadly we had to remove that video, along with 16 others, due to copyright issues. I am hopeful that one day these issues will be resolved and that video can be run again on my CZcams channel. I am also seeking alternative platforms where that video may be shared without breaking copyright rules. We shall see. Stay subscribed to my channel, and/or friend me on FB for future news about that awesome video. And in the meantime, share the Sturgill love!!! Thanks a million😊
No offense to Sturgill's guitar playing, which is quite good, but he used to have this amazing lead guitarist named Laur James, also known as Little Joe. Are they no longer playing together?
That’s correct. Laur left the band back in 2017 and Sturgill took over lead guitar
Sturgill you gotta hit that falsetto in the chorus bro. Jk good stuff
I love that he’s too tormented to go into falsetto; he nailed the angst. Really unbelievable to me.
Seriously though. It's not as good without the falsetto.
@@hillbillyhansforlife2763 let"s ask Eric.
Check out Amos Lee. Cup of Sorrow
Good cover. The omission of the E chord in the pre-chorus section is kind of off putting though.
Keep your mouth near the mic. I’ve seen him do this multiple times live where I could barely hear half of what he sang.
Jack Wilson it’s live music, it should be more about the performance and energy not standing perfectly still and achieve the best sound

This was good...imagine if they practiced it and didn't blow the changes and the turn-arounds. Would be amazing.
This is a great version, but like every cover of this song it’s woefully short of Bobby Whitlock
Now I must immediately listen to Derek and the Dominos version
Bell Bottom Blues is a fantastic song and an incredibly difficult song to cover. Maybe No one should attempt to no matter how much it means to them
Or maybe they should.
Lets ask Eric.
And Robert
And Jimmy
And Kurt
And Kirk
And Eddie
And Janet
Its not that difficult. I watched three vids on how to play it. Its just intricate. But playable. Maybe not all the way sing able. With the falsetto. Unless you can pull it off.
Then i guess its safe to say, it should be heard live, still today, to show what music really is. And heart felt lyrics.
Sturgill don’t cover Clapton
Why not? This is gold!
Why not?
