2 Merc's both broke down as the penny dropped Mel. The days of them doing 300k have sadly gone, now their disposable like Peugeot's.
Yay!! so pleased she's back up and running now! Super little unboxing of the battery jumpstart pack - love it xx
Thank you 😊
The benefits of being on CZcams that's why there's so many people on CZcams. I clicked the link and had a look that things got no batteries in it just a capacitor that's why it charges so quick amazing technology. Well done with the manifold that was a good find👍
Thank you 😊
Another great vid Mel , I love watching you no job too big or small .well done Mel 👍👍👏👏
Thank you buddy that’s really kind of you 👍
Another great informative vid Mel! Unlike some who wish to inform and dare I say educate, you don't waste your viewers time with what I'll tactfully call 'padding' of the video to get what I can only assume is a run time they feel is needed.
Good on you mate !!
Thank you Jack that’s a really kind compliment I really do appreciate your feedback and even more your support 👍😊👍🍻
Wow wish I could afford something like that love your content keep doing what you do you’re so impersonal when I’m down I watch you and it brings me back up as your so positive 👍👍
Nice job!!! You saved yourself a small fortune there! Just shows it’s worth having a go yourself when things go wrong!!👍
Thank you and yes definitely worth a go 👍😊👍
Nice job Mel, 👍👍 I have one of those starter batteries for the car and van. It's half that size and works awesome every time. 👍👍 love these starter batteries. Best luck of your travel in may now she's sorted.
Thank you 😊
I would of been out with the hot air gun trying to get the plastic back to it original position but the second hand part is a fantastic cost effective solution! Top job as usual Mel👍
Thank you 😊
Love your mechanic videos, especially when the end result is huge amounts of smoke ... :D
Thank you 👍😂 💨
Well done Mel, nice when you get a job like that done and saving yourself money. Think I’d of been worried about all that water but you were right it cleared in the end. Now I’m going to find your video about the cat security guard.
I have to admit I was really worried at first but then I remembered the last time I had it apart it did the same thing good luck with the cat shield I definitely sleep better at night knowing it’s safe 👍🍻
Nice one👍amazing little things, you never mine works a treat,👍
Cheers 🍻 I’ll be keeping mine in my kit 👍
Another great vid Mel, keep making them :)
Thank you I’ll do my best 👍😊👍🍻
@@BigVanSmallWorld Do your worst will still be great 😊
Nice driving gloves..Ha..Glad your back up & running..what a cool jump starter..✌🏻
Thank you 😊
Awww hail Mary. Well done to super Mel he can fix her. Very informative and a super talented guy. Well done x
Thank you 😊
Great fix mel 👍
Thank you 😊
So glad I opted for an old merc 609d instead of a sprinter for my camper conversion. They just don’t make vans like they used to irrespective of brand.
Nice bit of kit! I think they work on the principle that they charge up 4 x 3volt capacitors, then combine the voltage together to make 12v. There is one model on the market that can take all the power it needs from a flat battery to achieve the same results. If you are feeling experimental, you could try making one, but you might end up blowing yourself up!
I've got a TackLife model T8 Jumpstarter, which I tested out by starting up the engine of my 2004 Iveco Daily 2.3 van & I helped a woman, who's car wouldn't start due to a flat battery at my local Tesco's... it's fitted with some USB sockets & has an attachable 12v cigarette lighter lead, so it can be used as an18,000 Mah power bank. It is also fitted with a torch, which came in handy helping said woman start her car... Every vehicle should have one... or one similar... the TackLife T8 looks much more compact than the one you've got though Mel. You've just reminded me to check it out for it's state of charge... cheers... p.s... I've also used it with my 12v compressor to pump up my tyres...
Sounds like a fantastic bit of kit 👍😊👍
Handy guy Mel well done
Thank you 😊
I bought a 1000W Noco battery booster, Smaller than the one on the video, it successfully jumped my flat van battery and was even good for a few more jumps before needing recharging. Make sure you buy the correct size and type for the vehicle you have. The NOCO 500 wouldn’t touch my Van’s flat battery but the 1000W model was superb and still going strong after a year of occasional use.
Thank you that’s good advice really appreciated 👍
Geez, lucky find that. Good on ya Mel.
Thank you 😊
Great job, and a bargain Mel.
Stay well and stay safe everyone.
Ash 🏴
Thank you and you 👍
Hi Mel, you really should refit the cover when you’ve finished checking things over after a few miles, rain water drips on here and the cover directs this water away from building up and corroding the injectors in etc
Keep up the good videos mate 👊😊
Thank you for the tip really appreciated 👍😊👍
nice work pal
Thank you 😊
Had a similar problem with my Vito 113 ( same engine I think ). I had a bad water leak which turned out to be the plastic fuel filter housing which bolts to the side of the head. It has a water channel running through it and it sela to the head with an O ring. Over the years the joint and the O ring deform. Result ...water leak. £38.00 from Mercedes, but completely inaccessable and involves a big strip out. Glad your smoke cleared up....
Thank you 😊
Aww bless Mary :) glad she’s running well again ;) would I have that on a crafter? That jump start kit looks fantastic :) such amazing it can be fully charged from 12v ;)
Thank you 😊 really appreciated have a good weekend 👍😊👍
Mel’s Van World will do despite the horrible weather tho :( you too bud :)
Great stuff Mel
Let me know when your coming to Australia,
I know some great spots for gold around the golden triangle,in Victoria,
I have a gpx5000,and have been detecting for gold 25 years.
Wow really I’d absolutely love to David that would be incredible what a fantastic experience I’ll definitely take you up on that 👍😊👍
Hi Mel, messaged before about the vans and mine now has the dreaded underboost, changed the little o rings and all sorts of other bits and I'd like to check the inlet, was it much if a job to get it off? Also any idea on the part number for that o ring? Or do you think your best buying another second hand one
The big O ring is probably your problem sorry I can’t remember the part number the manifold coms off really simple just take your time it’s no problem and yes definitely get a new or second hand one of a lower mileage van use parts number off manifold
Amazing things capacitors. There the little cylinder like objects you get on compressors and big electric motors and florescent lights. Gives them a little jump start on start up, amazing power but in short spurts unlike a lead alcholide battery
Mind blowing I’m well impressed 👍
Not your day is it . Great video Mel .👍🇬🇧🍺🤣😂
Thank you 😊
Another great video Mel. I assume that your engine is the Om646... It looks exactly like the engine in my 315 cdi. I've been wondering about my manifold as there is a bit of oily residue toward the front of it. Is removal straightforward enough?
I don’t know what the number of my engine is 🤦♂️ I tho it was 906 🤷♂️ so confusing I have twin turbos and yes I could see black oil residue running down the and out the front of the inlet manifold i thought I had an oil leak but it’s actually the manifold leaking my van would go into limp mode every now and then flick of the key off n on back to normal hope this helps you 👍
Hi Mel I think your vids are a jinx was watching one of your vids with transmission stuck in park and same happened to mine.
Nx went up to Scotland and can you believe it same issue same fault code so please don't let anything else go wrong with it.
But joking aside great vids mate keep it up been a great help.
Ps 2010 5tonne twin wheel auto sprinter
I’m h no I’m sorry I’ll try not to upload anymore breakdown videos 😂🙏
Ive jump started a DAF XF lorry and 3 others with a 12 volt car jump pack smaller than that and it was still fully charged afterwards , only to one of the batteries.
That’s impressive well done 👍 😊👍
Hi bloke, I lost my power yesterday driving on my 2008 and all of a sudden I lost the turbo power. I checked the turbo visually and resonator there was no leak or hose damage. Could it be EGR or the boost pressure sensor? How could I tell? Please advise. Thanks.
Plastic parts !!!!... they just don’t make them like they used to Mel ... glad you solved the problem...
Thank you 😊 👍🍻
Mel . Good Job Robbie U K
Thank you 😊
Hi Mel I've just replaced the air cooler on my van as it was leaking but when I took the old 1 off it was full of oil I'm guessing it's the turbo seals is that something I should be worried about it seems to run ok
I think the real black residue is caused buy the exhaust and the EGR I wouldn’t worry about it if your turbo sills go you will know about it your will get smoke coming out 👍
It could be from your oil breather pipe, depends how much oil, might be oil bypassing turbo seals sometimes you can put a heavier oil in but not sure with that engine.
Hi Mel.could you tel me the name of the shower that you fitted on the back door so I can find one on ebay.as for some reason I can't find the link as they don't come on the mobile app on you tube.THANKS !!!
I’m sorry it’s unbranded if you can try copying and pasting the link to the browser good luck 😉
Nice video, glad you got your problem sorted, is that the 646 engine?
Thank you i dont know 🤷♂️ about 646 I thought it was 906 but you’re the second person to ask this it’s got twin turbos though 👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld ahh okay, they changed engines in 2009 i went to buy a Haynes manual for mine and it turned out I had the 646 engine which isn't covered by the manual
I wanna see it that jump start the van or a diesel engine. Seems a decent boost pack
Me to but I’m not going to flatten my battery just to try it out lol 😂 👍
Some self adhesive Gortex 3 or 5mm would seal that instead of the o ring and holds to high temps and pressure
I’d rather fix it properly than risking it going again my turbo boosts at over 30 psi that’s a lot of pressure
❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙#supportvanlifers
How have you found the sprinter on burning engine oil ? Had a Vito a few years ago and was burning oil a litre every 1000 miles ! Mercedes say this is normal. Thinking of buying a mwb Sprinter same as yours, around 2014 and do a self build conversion on it. Will check for water in the sills, if buy one lol 😊
John Philip I got to say my van hasn’t used any oil at all I did oil change last year and it’s exactly the same hight on the dipstick 👍😊👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld Great thanks Mel
your battery is ok you have lights on lol. wasnt flat and i would avoid these companies who offer stuff mate
yay
👍😊👍🍻
Is this becoming a shopping channel Mel? Looking forward to the electric bike and lawn scarifier.
If someone kindly sent me one then yes I’ll do a review on it lol 😂
I've got a problem with my Renault traffic at the moment just fitted a new timing chain and gearbox and clutch put it all back together started it up and it knocks I know the timing chain is fitted properly with a correct tool but my engine is very noisy at the moment but runs really well very noisy knocking noise listening to your nice quiet engine made me a bit jealous because I've got this problem to sort out and I've no idea what's causing it. Anybody out there have any ideas.
Oh no 🤦♂️ good luck with it
Oh dear.. 💙
It’s ok all good 👍
Bloody hell Mel are you sure your phone isn't reading your mind lol, I've heard of em giving targeted advertising but it looks like Santa is early this year..
Happy days gonna have to get one of them devices.
Its probably bumping up some beefy capacitors from a lithium cell.
Hey Mel. Hope all is well. My Mercedes Sprinter is throwing the same code. At the moment we are going into limp mode when going up hill. Did you experience this or did it just fail completely? Cheers, Lou 👍
Mine went into limp mode so randomly up hill down hill was a right pain
@BigVanSmallWorld Thank you Mel. Much appreciated. We will get the air intake manifold looked at 👍

It’ll only take an hour and a half to refit your manifold, is that also known as “three Virgoe’s” ??? Great bit of kit that jump pack - pity they didn’t offer you a discount code.
Brilliant made me chuckle 👍😊👍🍻
You could drain the a bathtub with a garden hose, it would just take longer.
mel............. don't leave the engine cover off to long that's there to stop water getting in.... water comes in from the bottom of the windscreen.....
thats why injectors get rust on them witch makes them difficult to get out....
Ohhhh thank you 😊
That can’t be a battery. It must be a bank of capacitors or something. Looks really good.
Your absolutely rite Bruce I latter found out it got a super capacitor in in whatever that is 🤷♂️🤦♂️ 😂👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld basically ap battery that dumps it's entire load all at once, so your little usb will take several minutes to charge the capacitors, but the capacitors only take a few seconds to off load all that energy at once, which is why you need to charge it every time.
turn all your interior lights off . for better charging of a flat battery .
Man your as mad as a box of frogs LOL
mr grumps I like to think so 👍😂👍
Had the same problem Mel with my vito (same engine),, common faults with these engines,, injectors o rings, boost problems,,diff bearings,,oh and the scab marks of rust problems, I wonder what the head of merc think now years down the line,,,,
When there running rite they are the dogs but when they go wrong there poo 💩
@@BigVanSmallWorld very true Mel,,,,
Stop shilling for Chinese tat, you're losing respect
Agree it’s not a question it’s a Chinese crap. 1 jump start before having to recharge it is definitely not a product you can rely on. NOCO BOOST PLUS GB40, this is brilliant well reviewed on YT it’s on amazon Halfords. Will jump a tiny car like yours probably 9/10 times before changing. You make your minds up guys.
@@VanlifeHQ check out project farm's video on jump starters, the NOCO unit turned out to be one of the worst.
Forename Surname ok mate I will watch thanks, however doesn’t take away this unbraided nasty pack bud in all due respect.. 1 jump is pretty useless in my opinion of course
Its not a battery you don't need to pre charge it it tell you that on the box cars for paul done a review on this item too sorry but he explains it a bit better 👍👍👍
Don’t be sorry I’m not a tech guru I just show it works and that’s all I need to know cars for Paul does great reviews 👍
No wonder battery flat with inside lights on while filming? 😂
Blimey didn't expect that part to be made of plastic on a turbo charged engine, if you want to stop that gunking up fit an egr blanking plate, some don't throw error codes but some do and need deleting out of the map.
Its worth it more power, one less thing to go wrong and no sending dirty exhaust gas in the engine which mixes with oil from your oil breather.. Making a tar like substance that decreases engine life .. Its meant to be a save the planet valve lol.
I was thinking about doing that shocking how much gunk is on the inlet manifold 👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld it will drop your intake temperature down a bit, cooler denser air and it should be a bit easier on that plastic part heat wise.. Worth also venting your oil breather to atmosphere or a catch can, catch can won't effect mot.
Is she an automatic Mel?
Yes she is 👍
Oh my, 700 for a piece of plastic intake. That's insane....
That’s for the complete manifold way to much 👍
Yep that’s what I thought, it’s not even cast alloy ...German stuff isn’t like it used to be ... I’ve Audis and Beemers... they are just money pits ... unreliable..
brazen
i've made my mind up never to buy a sprinter , it's always going wrong
I’m loving it rite now 👍
Not more ad's
absolutely bizzarre that mercedes make such an important part out of plastic.I suppose even the best companys sell their souls these days.
A flat battery is not a breakdown 😂
No but blowing inlet manifold and split pipe is
Stop on mel
