Zotero is great! I've been using it with LaTeX, and that's been working amazingly for me. The AI however: I hate it! I'm going to come off as a bit of a luddite here, but reading papers, comparing what different people are saying with a critical eye and communicating that effectively is, like, half the job of being a scientist. That's where our skills are! And then I haven't even mentioned that the AI may not even be trustworthy. It may take the papers in your directories as input, but does it *know* what it is saying? Maybe a paper has a critical point that can be easily overlooked (maybe even by the authors themselves!) but that might be crucial for your reading of it. The point is, I don't trust AI to do this job, because I will have the sense that I should check whether it is even doing a good job. At that point, I may just read the papers myself! Anyway, I hope that my point comes across. I understand why you like it, but that's my two (well okay, three) cents.

Dear Andy, I got your lecture while I was struggling to install mendely. Since three years back I used to apply frequently. But, I couldn't properly install the Mendeley web importer and Mendeley citation plugin after I removed the mendely icon to update my PC.
Thanks! Is ARIA able to read the documents you have on Zotero? When I ask about something, it refers to Zotero metadata. So, I wonder if the answers provided by ARIA are based on something other than assessing the content of the papers you downloaded in your Zotero Library. If not, is there any Zotero plugin that can read the text, and which would you recommend?

But it is still unclear to me how quickly the API credits I will have to buy with OpenAI will be spend.
As OpenAI states: I can buy API usage for just $5 but any API usage I incur will first be deducted from these prepaid credits. And if my usage exceeds the credits I have purchased, I will be billed for the additional amount.
What will I be able to do for this $5,- ?
Thank you Dr. Andy. I have been using Zotero for some years. However, a free version has limitation of 300MB storage of the library if things havents changed. Because of this is was compelled to migrate my stuffs to Mendeley though Im not happy at all!!! Andy has things changes since my departure?😅
You can connect it to your external hard disk. And you can sync on any computer.

Hi Andy. I love the video. Not so sure about ARIA. Took an age to set up. It is cool and I see your point. But it seems fiddly and you need to have uploaded your pdf's (I do not often do that in Zotero as it duplicates my files which I like to keep on my hard drive in proper folders) and then you have to remember the exact name of the book when you do the prompt. I think Jenni AI is better for this if you need to ask a quick question. I might be wrong?
You could use Zotfile to solve your PDF folder problem
I might try this, but rather than use an OPEN AI api, I might try to use my Ollama api for local AI.
Quick question - in order to chat with my Zotero's library using ARIA - do I need PDFs for all the references or are DOIs enough for the references that are in open access? I mean, is it possible to effectively use ARIA with free version of Zotero (only 300 MB of space)? Thanks in advance!

API and ChatGPT are two different paid subscriptions, that's why I got this error
You need to pay at least 5$ as an organization on the open ai platform. Just having premium chatgpt account doesnt create the Key you need.
Zotero collections are not folders. They are labels. You can have the same document in multiple collections.

It depends on which citation style you select. Whatever your style requires, Zotero can do it.

If you're interested in using AI in Zotero, there is no need to watch anything besides 04:52 - 07:56. Everything else is a run-of-the-mill Zotero tutorial. And you'll have to pay for GPT-4 tokens to use the integration, making the video useless for probably the majority of people watching this.
