Thanks for a great video. I just got mine from e-bay and had it setup in less than 20 minutes. This is my third LP2844, but first with Ethernet. I was ale to follow your directions to get it connected, then went into my other printers settings to get size, etc the same.

I just got one of these and am having a terrible time hooking it up over USB, the setup stuff just isnt finding my USB ports, I was wondering if you knew if I could connect my laptop directly to the printer using an ethernet cable instead of connecting the Zebra to my router?
my printer came with an IP 10.x.x.x. which is not how our switch is installed it should run with a 192 IP address. Do you know how we can do a static address or change it in the website?
Hey Eric... question for ya friend. I have this printer ( thanks again for the vid on it before to reintroduce it) and currently use my laptop to print labels. I bought a adapter to plug into my iPhone that has a female USB port so the printer cable can plug into so I can print front my iPhone a lot quicker than starting up my laptop. So my question is will this method work? And will I need to down the zebra drivers the same way I did with my laptop? Thanks again for all the knowledge man
Appreciate the support man. Good question. I have not been able to get them to work with iPhone. I have a video coming out next week about one that works with Android plugged in. Apple uses airprint and the only airprint compatible one is the brother ql1110nwb. 😟 Apple likes to control things, one of the downfalls. But they make a great product. 🥰
Hi, I bought one of these printers (LP2844), and set up the Ethernet. I got it working and printing, but each time I print a PDF label, I cannot print anything else for about 5 minutes. The label prints quickly, but the green light on the back keeps a steady flash, showing that it is still processing, and if I try to print again, it is about 5 minutes before the next one comes out. If I print from ZDesigner, or a small text file, I don't have this issue.
I only saw you print one label in the video over ethernet, have you seen this happen, or can you print labels over Ethernet back-to-back with no problem?

Should be usable with the dymo software on their website no? Might have to run a compatibility mode on windows. Testing soon! =)

NICE VIDEO THANK YOU..... I am having problems with return labels on ebay? I dont know if you know anyway of fixing that? they always print small and in the wrong way
Return labels are formatted for 8.5x11 without a setting to change it. I have a laser printer for those, but you can also open the PDF in adobe pdf viewer and take a snapshot of just the label and print it cropped. More work but for a label here and there it's not too bad.
thecollegepicker yea i figured a way in linux to change fonts still small but its legible and the barcode works. Working on getting my Ebay and Offerup online going. Just got the label printer online on Windows and Linux. Saved me a headache ! Thank you

thecollegepicker not advanced. I just dont own much software. I like the free stuff. And hate installing trial software liking it and suckered into buying it. Way to much money in my opinion.
thecollegepicker ill try it. I bought the label maker for like 70-80$ trying to use it as much as possible. Although i should of just bought a printer lol.
Hey Eric, How do you reset IP address on Zebra LP 2488-Z?
I got a used Zebra LP 2844-Z from eBay, everything works fine except when I try to put it on my network. The IP address on the device is 10.10.x.x,
I tried connecting the LP with Ethernet cable to my PC, as suggested on Reddit, but that where I’m not sure what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Eric, thank you for replying to my message. Your instruction is excellent!! It just the problem that I’m having is different. The IP address from the Zebra LP 2844-Z is 010.010.057.094, I can’t ping it or get access via web page. I’m not sure what type of IP address that is, but I want to rest it. According to Zebra’s website bit.ly/3cIeyyh that’s how it should be done.

Can't get my Zebra LP 2488-Z to reset or change its IP address
I figure of anywhere on reddit, you guys are probably the most qualified to help here. I bought a Zebra LP 2844-Z (off ebay) and a roll of adhesive labels (4"x6"). I plugged the printer into my laptop via USB and installed the configuration software to set it up. Updated the firmware, did a factory reset /wipe, etc. It prints great (config pages and stuff) but I still can't seem to wipe some of the internal settings off of it. It appears to be hardcoded with a name "datacenter test printer" and with a 10.x.x.x IP address. If I try to use the Zebra software tools to change the IP, it doesn't change anything. The factory reset / wipe does remove the configuration for what size labels are used, etc, but I can't get it to set an IP (DHCP or static) for use on my home network.
Any advice?

Plug your pc into the Ethernet port of the zebra give your self an ip in the same range on the zebra see if you can ping it If you can see if you can get to the web interface

That worked great, thank you!! Turns out there's a password to make some changes (but not all), and the print server settings are behind the password wall. Once I reset it to defaults, even though some settings didn't change (like IP and device name) it restored the default password of 1234 which I could then use to reassign the IP.
Working great now, just printed a label over the network to the Zebra!

Plugging it directly into the router may be my issue. The IP in the print out is not on my network. I'll try plugging it directly into the router to configure. Can I move it after it's configured? I need it by computer in back room, not by my router.
Hi, if you move it from your router it won't be on the network. In that case it would just be USB install and the whole video would be unnecessary. You would just do a normal install, I have videos about that on my channel also.
@@thecollegepicker are you familiar with mesh networking? I can plug it into the mesh hub in the back room but not the router...but now in the mesh hub it won't pickup its own IP. Which is really wierd bc my TV is plugged into mesh, my TV set top box, my Xbox. And all work fine and pull unique IP. This is the first that won't. Strange isn't it?
I haven't messed with the mesh 😭🙏 apologies. Lemme know if you get it going. I'm curious now.

ExcelIent question! I cycle through them all to run different tests and compatibility so I can make an ultimate comparison video. I recently traded my brother to someone on IG for a laptop. Will buy another Brother soon brand new tho. 🙏🙏 Currently Meihengtong is hooked up and working with my Android phone 🤣👍 haven't made the video about it yet.
Your instruction is working fine, however printing 2 or more label will give an print error. I have to turn off the printer every print job. Any idea. Thanks in advance
Thanks, It sounds like it possibly is overheating. Can you turn down the print darkness and then down the print speed in settings?
@@thecollegepicker I dont think its over heating. Like for example if I have 3 label to print. the first label is ok, 2nd and 3rd I have to turn off the printer then clear the queue and it will work again. I also tried creating word doc and I make it 3 pages and thats no problem. The problem each print job. Any idea, much appreciated
That's very strange. I would try a hard reset then recalibration and reinstall and see if that helps. Hold down the forward feed button on the front panel. The indicator light will start a flash sequence: 1, 1-2, 1-2-3, and so on. When it flashes four times, release it. This resets the printer to factory defaults.

Yo Eric! I bought an LP2844 off eBay and could not get it work at all. Zebra Support told me they no longer supported the printer after 2015 BUT was nice enough to spend over an hour on the phone with me trying to troubleshoot the thing. I am running Windows 7 on my PC and laptop and neither would connect (Do you think Windows 7 could be the issue??). The printer would just print a bunch of gibberish. I was so pissed that I could not use that work horse of a printer. I let the seller know the next day after delivery what happened and they gladly accepted the return and gave my money back. I ended up buying a ZP450 and hope to have better luck with it.
How do I set this up on a chromebook
Calibrated but will not for the life of it ever print out the network configuration page.
