Blake sits down with car collector Magnus Walker for a wide ranging discussion about cars, guitars, watches, and life. Magnus is a true enthusiast who uses the things he collects, whether that’s watches, cars, clothing, or anything else. Magnus talks about what draws him to the objects he’s interested in, and how he takes a design first approach but is also highly focused on things like tactile feel and why he’s interested in something. This is a really fun conversation, and Magnus has a lot of insights about the car world that will ring true to watch collectors (and collectors of just about anything else).

Experience Enthusiasm
I have watched many of Magnus’s video stories and they resonate with me because his spirit of adventure and freedom. He marches to his own beat, does his thing and it works for him. In today’s world we need more of that. What I especially like is his things don’t own him, he owns and uses those things for their intended purposes.
Hello Worn & Wound. Until this video/podcast, I hadn’t heard of Magnus. I listened to this while I was wearing my well loved SKX007J and spring cleaning my acreage. I unfortunately don’t drive Porsche or anything fun, just basic cars to get me from A to B 😢. But that’s me. However I do love watches and appreciate his easy going manner, wearing what he loves and wear it while you do everything…fixing your car etc. That Mark II is spectacular and to own several, I’m sure he’s wearing a beat up version while working on his cars 😂.
But this interview made me realize my fear of wearing some of my better watches while doing the things I love. I have an IWC Mark XII that I purchased last year in amazing condition. I don’t own a dress watch so on it’s bracelet, I consider it my dress watch. But shame on me, it’s not a dress watch, it’s a tool watch. So yesterday, I took it off it’s bracelet, put it on a nato and wore it while doing errands. I jumped on the trampoline with my youngest daughter and I never thought to take it off my wrist.
My take away: just like those expensive Porsches he drives and says they get better with the miles, watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed everyday. Sure, collect things, nothing wrong with that, but also enjoy them. Don’t let them collect dust!

As a watch and car fan, I really enjoyed this. "The value is in the miles and the memories and the shared moments"; absolutely spot on and resonates hugely with me; the joy in all the watches I have is that each have memories associated with them. Wear, and drive, and play, and enjoy. I'm a Porsche guy too by the way!
My son and I ran into Magnus at Werks Reunion last year. He signed a 277 Hot Wheels car and offered to take a photo with him. He’s the real deal.
I was under the impression Magnus typically wears a very well worn Omega Mark 4.5 Speedmaster. Magnus is an interesting and eclectic personality.
In a world where everyone has to have the latest thing, be it watches, fashion, electronics or whatever.....I found Magnus so inspiring and refreshing. Great interview W&W 👍

Magnus Walker (born July 7, 1967)[1] is a British former fashion designer and car collector. He emigrated to the United States in 1986 at the age of nineteen and eventually established a clothing brand, called Serious, with his late wife, Karen Caid Walker. Having been fascinated with Porsche since childhood, Walker started collecting and customizing vintage Porsches, mostly the air-cooled 911 model. After the documentary Urban Outlaw about his life, Walker became one of the world's most visible faces of the Porsche and car collecting scene. He has since been featured in a multitude of media, such as The Joe Rogan Experience (2015), and Jay Leno's Garage (2017), and the 2015 video game Need for Speed.
In 2014, Walker completed a Tedx Talk called "Go With Your Gut,[2]" which has since seen more than 9.5 million views. Walker has more than 25 Hot Wheels cars in his signature line, including multiple variations on his signature "277" race car.

Magnus, appreciate your thoughts on driving these cars, I had an Intermeccanica 356 Replica that I loved to drive, the memories were great. I think many modern Porsche owners look at these cars as investments, and don't drive them enough.

I'm native born(Harlem) and real old school NYer's only call Manhattan New York, but because my Mom is from BK we spent a lot of time with my Grand parents in Brooklyn when we were Children and I can tell "Youse" no self respecting real Brooklynite says they're from NY, they say "I from Brooklyn"

Find the dinosaur
Maybe this guy has had some interesting experiences but definitely needed a better introduction to set the stage. Without it he comes across like a cast member from a knock off Harry Potter film. His inability to communicate effectively in this setting and/or the interviewer not redirecting the conversation made this a mindless ramble.
Might know a lot about Porsche but not sure of his expertise on most other topics including watches. Overrated in my book.
