    I feel like I need to give a bit of an update about the kit as I am building it right now.
    I found that there are a lot of badly placed ejector pin marks and a lot of seam lines on almost all of the parts. These kind of problems should be very rare, non-existent even, from such a big manufacturer like Italeri in 2023. So it is a bit of a let down personally that a kit that costs this much, feels lower in quality than kits like Kotare, Border Models, Takom, Tamiya, etc... who can produce almost immaculate kits with crisp detail, free from flashes, seam lines, ejection pin marks, etc... in the same price range or even cheaper.
    I don't want to discourage anyone from buying it, as it is still a great kit in my opinion, but it doesn't come close to some of the kits out there in this price bracket.

      Welp, I just ordered it, 89 euros, no going back now.
      I'll be interested to see what it's like up close.
      I'm sure I'm a lot less picky than you but then again the point is how much you get for what you are paying so I hear you.
      It also helps this is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built, that alone should count for something extra!

      @christosswc I wouldn't call myself picky. I was just expecting better quality for something this expensive, based on other experiences.
      I like this plane too much to be mad about it.
      Do agree, it is one of the most (if not THE MOST) beautiful aircraft. And it's finally not another Spitfire, or Bf-109.

      Personally, I'm not going to worry too much about a few little problems. Good kits of WW2 Italian fighters and nearly nonexistent, plus the fact is I grew up in the 1960s and 70s and it quite a bit of work to get those kits to turn out decently. When Hasagawa started bring out their kits it was a real blessing. Have fun modeling!🤠

    Someone once told me that "Italeri" is the Italian word for gaps and seams. And your update seems to confirm that 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    I wouldn't worry about rivet detail, on the real aircraft they disappear from any distance at all when the aircraft is painted. You can only see riveting when you stand right next to it, and panel lines are only slightly more visible.

      @rogueplastic  Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah, I know this whole debacle around rivet details, panel lines etc...
      On one hand, I agree that not seeing the rivets is not a problem and in fact, it is more realistic, given that most riveting is made flush with the surface and even filled with putty and such.
      On the other I do understand why people do it and like it, as it is an extra bit of detail on the plane's surface that can give a bit more interesting look.
      It's just sad that a cheaper kit like the Ju87 from Border Model in 1/35th scale has more surface detail than this 100 euro kit.

    Version C is from the "limbo" period After the 1943 Italian armistice, but before they reformed as the Italian Co-Belligerent AF with roundels - All Fascist insignia were painted out (the Wings have empty circles and the Fasces on the fuselage were obscured and the House Of Savoy coat of arms deleted from the white cross on the tail. This period only lasted a few months at most. On the bright side, you could leave the markings 'Pre-armistice' as the right emblems are ALL on the decal sheet, and it would still be correct. This is a Kit I especially have wanted for a long time - I have the old 21st Century 1/32 kit of both the C202 and C205 - which are more like a toy, but have really nice decals and are basically accurate in shape, but the detailing is rather crude and sometimes overscale in the finer parts.

      Thanks for the information. I thought it is going to be the case.
      The Orange Series book on the Folgore does have a picture with a Series XII painted over markings. That even has the squadron insignia and numbers removed.
      It is a nice kit, but as I've been working on it, there are some things I am disliking and makes it feel like a bit overpriced. So if you''re not in a hurry I would wait until it drops in price a bit.

    Super MODEL !

      Indeed. It is a looker.
      Although as I am building it right now, there are quite a lot of ejection pin marks and seam lines.

    I bought it too and I think it is a wonderful model, the riveting is quite tricky since on the real plane you can see a tiny tiny tiny amount of riveting, in particular around the white band of the fuselage, but the rivets have plate top parts so they cannot be seen except from extremely close... I do not know if it is worth redoing them by hand or not. Excellent video!

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  Před rokem

      Thank you! I am happy you liked the video.
      I did look at a lot of old images, lot of closeups from the two remaining ones and the rivets are really almost invisible. I don't have experience yet in riveting and probably this kit is not going to be my guinea pig.

    it is way too expensive for what it offers. The molding quality seems pretty disappointing compared to other manufacturer's offerings in this scale.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  Před rokem +1

      Happy to hear others feel the same. I have the first video of my build process in the making and I do voice this concern.
      It's nowhere near the quality one should expect in 2023 for a hundred euros.
      The only saving grace of this kit is, that it's a MC.202. If this would've been a Spitfire people would be furious.

      @@rogueplastic indeed. Look what Arma Hobby, a relatively new company can do with their kits. They are awesome. And Italeri a company with so many years behind their back just can't provide something up to today's standards. But anyway I'll follow your build and after my rant I still consider getting one some day, just because I like this aircraft a lot. I'll probably wait until the aftermarket guys jump to this subject.

    • @rogueplastic
      @rogueplastic  Před rokem +1

      Good thinking. Definitely wait until that and for it getting cheaper.
      I feel more let down by the fact that it was Italeri. I thought that an Italian company would go and perform above and beyond when it comes to their own aviation history.
      Should've known. The 1/72 Veltro I've built back in the day is to low standard as well.
