This clip of Ísland (Iceland) Got Talent - Pauline McCarthy is provided with subtitles in English for all of Pauline's fans around the world who do not speak Icelandic.
Pauline McCarthy performing at the second auditions of Ísland (Iceland) Got Talent. Unfortunately some of the judges were not happy that her Icelandic was not so good and did not translate for her. That is why she looks like a deer trapped in the headlights :)
Pauline was born in Glasgow, Scotland into a family of Irish descent. She was a missionary for many years traveling around the world, finally settling in Iceland at the end of 1992. She is married to an Icelander and they have 2 sons.
Pauline suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fybromyalgia and other auto immune diseases. Just a few short years ago she was 98kg and had to use walking sticks. One day she woke up and decided that enough was enough. She was fed up being an invalid so dramatically changed her lifestyle, lost 18kg, threw away the walking sticks and has dedicated her life to inspiring middle aged women to fulfill their potential and blossom.
Pauline is not cured but has decided to find joy in life instead of feeling sorry for herself. Pauline is well known in Iceland for her charity and volunteer work. She was awarded the Hvunndagshétjan 2012 award (Everyday Hero of 2012) by the Icelandic national newspaper Fréttablaðið.
She is currently working on a new live stage show "The Pearls of Pauline - Pearls of Wisdom, Compassion & Joy for Menopausal Women (and their families)" which includes self help talks, humour, fun songs, a live oil painting demonstration where she compares the layers of the paint to the layers of our lives until we get to that certain age where we "begin to see the picture" and a live flower arranging class where she compares the various flowers to the different types of women and the different types of care they need. At the end of the show there is a lottery and someone wins the oil painting and someone wins the flower arrangement and everyone goes home happy and inspired.
We will post here when dates and venues are available.

Well done Pauline. We are all proud of you. If Iceland does not appreciate your talent, perhaps Britain will. Just sent this video to Britain's Got Talent. It is not fair that they rejected you because you could not speak Icelandic well. You won't have that problem here at home.

Thanks dad, It is quite fraustrating not being able to understand everything in Icelandic, or being able to express myself fully. That is why I am always so grateful to perform in Scotland and other English speaking countries :) Still, I love living in Iceland and am trying every day to improve my Icelandic.
      LoVe P.

Thanks Specter, I had a laugh doing it. Was recently in London doing my show The Pearls of Pauline - Pearls of Wisdom, Compassion & Joy for Menopausal Women. It was the first time my audience had nearly as many men as women.

Thanks Joker :) I'm not exasperated, I'm having a ball at all the lovely comments and support from all over the world. I was at the gym this morning and in the changing room some school kids were so excited to talk to be about my performance. I am becoming a wee bit of a celeb for not getting through :) Haha ain't life magical :)
